Abstract

Many industrial devices operate using movements operated by electric motors. One type of motor that is widely used in industry is the three-phase induction motor. In order for the motor to operate according to needs, the motor needs to be controlled, such as controlling the rotation speed, controlling the direction of rotation, braking and starting current. Induction motor control in today's industry often uses power converters packaged in the form of Variable Speed Drive (VSD) modules. The use of this VSD allows control of induction motors with various methods, such as the scalar method (constant Volt/Hertz) or the vector control method. The VSD module also allows remote control and monitoring of the motor using the internet, so that the reliability of motor control can be improved. This study proposes control and monitoring of induction motors using the Omron 3G3JX-A VSD based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The motor is controlled using the scalar method in a constant torque configuration, so that the motor can operate more efficiently. The control and monitoring system is designed using PLC Omron CP2E-N, VSD Omron 3G3JX-A with CX-Programmer software, Node-red and Web server for remote access on smartphones. The design of the three-phase induction motor control and monitoring system based on IoT was tested and validated through laboratory experiments. The test results show that the proposed motor control and monitoring system has worked well according to the objectives. The motor can be controlled remotely using a smartphone and also from a PC

Abstract

Electrical energy has an important role in various aspects of life. Electrical energy is used in the form of alternating current (AC) voltage and direct current (DC) voltage. To produce a direct voltage (DC) that varies and as needed, a power converter is needed that is equipped with a control system so that the resulting voltage remains stable and does not experience overvoltage or undervoltage. In this research, the converter used is a buck converter. Because the buck converter is a nonlinear system, it requires a control system with a dynamic response rate. So it is necessary to design a buck converter by applying a control system that can maintain the stability of the buck converter output voltage efficiently and adaptively such as the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) method. The control proposed system will be implemented using an Arduino ATMega2560 programmed through Simulink Matlab. To test the effectiveness of this control system, several experiments will be conducted with an input voltage of 24 Volts and outputs worth 9 and 12 Volts. From this test, a voltage error of 0.1 Volt was obtained in the experiment with constant voltage and constant load criteria, proving that the control has successfully controlled the buck converter output voltage according to the reference voltage

Abstract

Effective water quality management is the key to maintaining a healthy and sustainable aquarium. The water quality in the aquarium affects the health of fish, plants, and other microorganisms, so it requires monitoring and control. Some water quality parameters that must be considered in ornamental fish aquariums are water pH, water turbidity, and water level in the aquarium. Along with the rapid development of technology, it is expected to make it easier for humans. This study aims to design an aquarium water quality control tool with control using a smartphone. In making this tool, Arduino is used as the control center. In addition, this tool also uses a pH sensor to measure the acidity level of water in the aquarium, uses a Turbidity sensor to measure the turbidity level of water in the aquarium and an Ultrasonic sensor to calculate the water level in the aquarium. The results of the sensor measurements will be displayed on the LCD screen and the Blynk application. The Blynk application display gets data from the NodeMCU ESP32 which is used to send sensor reading data to the Arduino online using the Internet Of Things (IoT). In addition to being used for monitoring, the Blynk application can be used to control water quality control pumps

Abstract

The ballast system is crucial for maintaining the stability of ships, especially cargo ships that generally still use manual systems. The weaknesses of manual systems include low efficiency, long operational times, and the potential for technical errors (human error) that can increase the risk of accidents. This research aims to develop an automatic ballast system using Outseal PLC as the control center. The process begins by activating the system through the start button. Objects are placed on the prototype, and the system's response to tilt angles is measured using a gyroscope sensor. When a tilt angle is detected, the system automatically fills the tank with water to restore stability. The volume of water entering the tank is measured using a flowmeter sensor. Test results show that when the tilt reaches 10 degrees or -10 degrees, the system automatically fills the tank with water. This process continues until all tanks are optimally filled with a volume of 450 ml, after which the system empties all tanks. The research results indicate that the system can effectively manage stability through water filling in the tanks, and the designed program functions according to the desired specifications

Abstract

This final project focuses on the design and development of a prototype waste sorting machine with the goal of aiding the production of ecopaving by sorting plastic waste through digital image processing techniques. The main objective of this research is to address the environmental issues caused by household plastic waste, which has become a significant global challenge, especially in Indonesia. The proposed system uses a conveyor belt mechanism and integrates digital image processing programmed with Python, utilizing a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model for image classification. The prototype sorts waste into three categories: plastic, glass, and metal, using a webcam for detection and a servo motor to push the sorted materials. The automation of this system aims to improve efficiency and accuracy in the sorting process, reduce reliance on manual labor, and minimize processing time. This approach not only contributes to waste management but also promotes the recycling of plastic waste into valuable products such as ecopaving, in line with the 3R principle (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). This final project is expected to provide an effective and efficient solution in reducing waste so that it can be more useful rather than just environmental waste

Abstract

The development of technology, particularly in the field of robotics, is increasingly influencing various aspects of life, including the organization of robot contests which are attracting more participants. The Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI) and the ABU Robocon Indonesia Robot Contest (KRAI) are competitions involving broad participation from across the Asia Pacific. Robots in these competitions are controlled using instructions from operators, where the use of wireless joysticks has become very common to enhance control efficiency. However, in practice, issues such as signal connection loss often occur, especially when using PlayStation 2 joysticks with limited signal range. This study aims to develop a more stable remote control system using an ATmega 2560 microcontroller and an ESP32 to provide Bluetooth signals. The research method used is experimental, including the stages of analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation. The results show that the control system with an ESP-based PS4 joystick can increase the control range up to 15 meters with more stable connectivity compared to the previous system. Testing also indicates that precise IP address assignment can prevent signal interference from other devices, making this system effective for use in robotics competitions
