Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to provide skills to physics teachers at the Pontianak City Physics MGMP to develop practical-based learning and STEM Phase F applications. The method of implementing PKM is training and mentoring. The stages of implementing PKM consist of stage 1) preparation; stage 2) socialization which includes activities of resource person presentation, discussion, and question and answer; and stage 3) implementation and mentoring, which includes activities; and 4) monitoring and evaluation. This activity succeeded in increasing teachers' insight and skills about the implementation of STEM Phase F in practical-based learning activities. In addition, teachers' skills in compiling STEM-based learning devices also increased. This program succeeded in introducing the application of STEM in practical-based Physics learning in the Lab. The positive response of participants showed motivation to apply STEM and partnerships between universities and schools as the first step to creating an innovative and sustainable learning environment. Abstract

This study aims to describe the process and outcomes of mentoring students in improving their ability to read the Qur’an through the Iqro method at Madrasah Diniyah Al-Islah Karangrejo. The background of this activity stems from the fact that many students still struggle with Qur’anic reading skills, particularly in terms of fluency, articulation of letters (makhraj), vowel length (mad), and the application of basic tajwid rules. The method applied was Participatory Action Research (PAR), consisting of diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 70 students of Madrasah Diniyah Al-Islah Karangrejo, with the mentoring program conducted over one month using observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show a significant improvement in the students’ Qur’anic reading skills. In the pre-mentoring stage, only 21% (15 out of 70 students) could read fluently. After the first cycle, the percentage increased to 50% (35 students), and by the second cycle, it reached 82% (58 students). This improvement indicates that the Iqro method, supported by the sorogan approach and repeated practice, effectively corrected reading errors, enhanced understanding of basic tajwid, and fostered students’ confidence in reading before teachers and peers. In conclusion, mentoring using the Iqro method proved effective in gradually and measurably improving students’ Qur’anic reading skills. Beyond technical ability, the program also nurtured students’ motivation, discipline, and love for the Qur’an. Therefore, similar mentoring programs may serve as an inspirational model for other Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

The lack of competence among Physical Education (PE) teachers in Central Lombok Regency in applying sports massage, as well as the limited use of manipulation techniques in sports learning, has become an obstacle to the development of students’ physical skills and well-being. This community service program aims to improve PE teachers’ understanding and skills in sports massage through comprehensive training. The methods used in this activity are lecture and demonstration/practice methods. The activity was attended by 25 junior high school PE teachers from East Kutai Regency. Evaluation results showed that 92.8% of participants had mastered the sports massage material, while 86.3% were able to apply the techniques effectively. It is expected that this training will enhance the competence of PE teachers in integrating sports massage into sports learning, thereby having a positive impact on physical recovery, athletic performance, and student well-being at the Nurul Iman Islamic Boarding School Foundation, Ujan Rintis, Central Lombok Regency.

Abstract

The implementation of the Book Stall Program at SMKN 1 Kotaraja was driven by the low reading interest among students, reflected in the limited use of the school library and minimal participation in literacy activities. This condition indicated the need for a literacy strategy that is accessible, appealing, and integrated into students’ daily routines. Through a teaching assistance approach, the program was designed to create an open literacy space that allows students to interact freely with various reading materials. The method was carried out twice a week in the school’s outdoor area, using mentoring, interpersonal communication, and direct observation to capture students’ levels of engagement. The findings indicate a clear increase in students’ reading interest, as shown by their spontaneous visits to the book stall, willingness to browse and read books, active discussions about the content, and repeated participation in subsequent sessions. Students also demonstrated greater confidence in expressing their understanding and showed improvement in communicative and reflective literacy behaviors. These results highlight that open reading spaces, consistent exposure to books, and supportive mentoring can effectively stimulate students’ interest in reading. Therefore, the Book Stall Program supported by teaching assistance contributes positively to fostering a sustainable literacy culture in SMKN 1 Kotaraja.

Abstract

Desa Koaraja dikenal dengan adat istiadatnya yang masih dijaga dengan sangat baik oleh para leluhur dan masyarakatnya. Salah satu budaya yang masih ada yaitu upacara betetulak (Tolak Bala) dan persembahan adat di dusun Marang utara dan Marang Selatan, Desa Kotaraja, bukan sekedar ritual semata, melainkan sebuah ekspresi budaya yang kompleks dan multifungsi. Secara mendasar, upacara ini berfungsi sebagai sarana komunikasi religius dengan kekuatan supranatural untuk memohon perlindungan dari segala bentuk bala dan malapetaka. Nilai-nilai spiritual ini terwujud dalam persembahan adat atau sesajen, yang setiap komponennya mengandung makna simbolis dan filosofis yang mendalam mereperesentasikan hubungan harmonis antara manusia, alam dan leluhur. Selain aspek religiusnya, upacara betetulak memiliki peran sosial dan budaya yang sangat penting. Ritual ini berfungsi sebagai perekat komunitas sosial yang memperkuat rasa kebersamaan, sekaligus menjadi sarana untuk melestarikan dan menunjukkan jati diri masyarakat Marang. Betetulaq (Tolak Bala) adalah upacara adat/keagamaan untuk memohon perlindungan dari bencana, penyakit, dan malapetaka yang berlangsung dalam jangka panjang. Ritual ini menggabungkan unsur adat dan agama (doa bersama, pembacaan kitab suci, pengeluaran pusaka, dan prosesi adat). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif, karena objek kajian berupa praktik budaya dan kepercayaan religius masyarakat, yang tidak dapat diukur secara statistik, melainkan perlu dipahami secara mendalam, kontekstual, dan holistik. Upacara Betetulak atau Tolak Bala dan persembahan adat mengandung makna simbolik, nilai spiritual, serta keyakinan kolektif masyarakat Dusun Marang Kotaraja yang hanya dapat diungkap melalui pendekatan kualitatif.
