Background: Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by the dengue virus, transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. This illness poses a significant public health threat, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions such as Indonesia. Poor environmental sanitation can promote the breeding of the disease vector, leading to an increase in DHF cases. As a result, public awareness and understanding of sanitation practices are essential for preventing and controlling this disease. Purpose: This study aims to investigate the relationship between knowledge of environmental sanitation and the incidence of Dengue Fever in the coastal areas of Mataram City. Methods: This study adopted a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, collecting data at a singular point in time. A structured questionnaire was employed to observe and measure variables within the target population. Two hundred thirteen respondents were selected through systematic random sampling, adhering to clearly defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The primary instruments utilized in this research included a survey sheet and a validated questionnaire. Results: The findings from the Spearman rank correlation test revealed a statistically significant relationship between environmental sanitation and the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), as indicated by a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The correlation coefficient (r = 0.320) demonstrates a moderate positive association between these two variables. Conclusion and recommendation: This study reveals a statistically significant association between environmental sanitation conditions and the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), indicating a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.320; p < 0.05). These findings underscore the importance of environmental hygiene as a crucial factor in the transmission dynamics of DHF within the population examined

Background: Osteoarthritis is a prevalent condition among the elderly, leading to joint pain. Treatment options for osteoarthritis can include both pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. One promising non-pharmacological approach is dry cupping therapy. Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the effect of dry cupping therapy in reducing pain levels among the elderly in nursing homes. Methods: The research employed a pre-experimental design utilising a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. The sample consisted of all 26 elderly residents diagnosed with osteoarthritis at the nursing home. The intervention involved administering cupping therapy to the knee for 40 minutes. Pain levels were assessed using the Bourbanis scale before and after the intervention, and data were analysed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: The findings revealed a significant reduction in pain levels following the cupping therapy, with a p-value of 0.000, below the significance threshold of 0.05. This indicates that dry cupping therapy may be an effective complementary treatment for alleviating pain in elderly individuals suffering from osteoarthritis in the nursing home. Conclusion and recommendation: This study concludes that dry cupping therapy effectively reduces pain in elderly patients with osteoarthritis. Therefore, this therapy can be considered a safe and practical non-pharmacological method for managing joint pain related to osteoarthritis.

Background: Adolescents often lack information about menarche due to general unawareness. The Indonesian Ministry of Health (2018) reports that the average age of menarche in Indonesia is 12.4 years, with a 60% prevalence rate. Many feel anxious and embarrassed about the physical changes, mainly due to a lack of knowledge. Purpose: This research aimed to assess the impact of a Peer Education Program on menarche knowledge among students at SD Negeri 09 Belakang Balok Bukittinggi in 2022. Methods: The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group from July to August 2022. The participant population included students from SD Negeri 09 Belakang Balok, who made up the experimental group, while students from SD Negeri 07 Belakang Balok served as the control group. Fifty respondents were selected using a purposive sampling technique, ensuring an equal distribution between the experimental and control groups. For data analysis, paired sample t-tests and independent sample t-tests were used to assess the impact of the intervention. Results: Results from the paired t-test revealed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference in the mean knowledge between the pre-test and post-test scores for both groups. Furthermore, the independent t-test results also yielded a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha) and the rejection of the null hypothesis (Ho). This confirms that the Peer Education Program significantly affected students' knowledge of menarche. Conclusion and recommendation: In conclusion, the Peer Education Program improved menarche knowledge among SD Negeri 09 Belakang Balok Bukittinggi students. It is recommended that schools incorporate this initiative into health education.

Background: Anemia is a common health issue among adolescents, particularly due to iron deficiency. Poor sleep quality is believed to contribute to the prevalence of anemia; however, the relationship between the two remains a topic of debate. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between sleep patterns and the incidence of anemia in adolescents at a Junior high school. Method: This research employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 161 students, from whom a sample of 115 respondents was selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection involved administering the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire to assess sleep quality and measuring hemoglobin (Hb) levels using the Easy Touch GCHB tool. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square statistical test. Results: The findings revealed that the majority of respondents (55.7%) experienced poor sleep quality, and 44.3% were found to have moderate anemia. The results of the bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test indicated no significant relationship between sleep patterns and the incidence of anemia among junior high school students, with a p-value of 0.217 (>0.05). Conclusion: Sleep quality does not significantly affect the incidence of anemia in junior high school students. Other factors, such as diet, iron intake, and physical activity, may have a greater impact on hemoglobin levels. Therefore, it is essential to enhance health education related to nutrition and establish good sleep patterns to help prevent anemia in adolescents.

Background: Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) imposes a profound multidimensional burden on patients, extending beyond physiological visual loss to compromise daily functioning and psychosocial well-being. While the clinical progression of DR is well-documented, empirical evidence regarding its specific impact on quality of life (QoL) domains in developing regions remains limited Objective: This study aimed to describe the quality of life and identify specific functional deficits among patients with diabetes mellitus complicated by diabetic retinopathy in West Sumatra, Indonesia. Method: A quantitative descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at the Eye Clinic of Ibnu Sina Yarsi Islamic Hospital, Bukittinggi. A total of 70 patients with confirmed diabetic retinopathy were recruited using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the validated Indonesian version of the National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire-25 (NEI VFQ-25). Descriptive statistical analysis was performed to determine demographic characteristics and domain-specific QoL scores. Results: The study cohort was primarily female (61.4%) and elderly, with 64.3% of the participants being 60 years or older. Most participants had been living with diabetes for more than 10 years (68.6%). Overall, half of the participants (50.0%) reported a moderate quality of life, while 28.6% rated their quality of life as poor. Analysis of specific domains showed that "near activities" and "mental health" were the most significantly affected areas. In contrast, scores for "color vision" and "peripheral vision" were relatively well-preserved. Conclusion: diabetic retinopathy severely impacts patients' quality of life, particularly affecting their independence in near-vision tasks and their psychological well-being. These findings underscore the pressing need for comprehensive nursing interventions that encompass routine psychosocial assessments and education on adaptive self-management, in conjunction with clinical management of glycemic levels, to enhance the overall well-being of this vulnerable population

Background: Asthma is a chronic non-communicable disease that significantly affects the pediatric population. Severe exacerbations can disrupt daily activities, increase morbidity, and even lead to mortality. Effective management of asthma requires a combination of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. The Buteyko Breathing Technique (BBT) is a non-pharmacological therapy designed to reduce the frequency of asthma attacks and improve breathing patterns. Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the Buteyko breathing technique on clinical parameters, specifically respiratory rate and oxygen saturation, in pediatric asthma patients at Panembahan Senopati Regional General Hospital. Methods: This quantitative study employed a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest approach. A sample of 11 pediatric patients, aged 5 to 18 years, was selected through convenience sampling. The inclusion criteria included children who were hospitalized for a minimum of three days, received bronchodilator therapy, and were willing to participate in the study. Clinical parameters, such as oxygen saturation and respiratory rate, were measured before and after the intervention using pulse oximetry and manual counting. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: The analysis revealed that the Buteyko breathing technique significantly reduced respiratory rates on the first day of the intervention (p < 0.001). However, there was no significant effect of the intervention on oxygen saturation levels (p > 0.05). Conclusion and recommendation: The Buteyko breathing technique is effective in reducing respiratory rates in pediatric asthma patients; however, it did not significantly alter oxygen saturation in this pilot study. It can be recommended as a complementary non-pharmacological management approach in conjunction with standard bronchodilator therapy. Further research with a larger sample size and a control group is needed to validate these findings.
