Abstract

Digital transformation has fundamentally reshaped the nature of archives, not only in terms of technological media but also in how archives are understood, interpreted, and accounted for. In this context, archival literacy is often narrowly framed as a set of technical skills or individual competencies, a perspective that inadequately captures the complexity of digital archives that are dynamic, distributed, and embedded in contemporary information practices. This article aims to reframe archival literacy as a conceptual lens within the landscape of digital transformation. Adopting a reflective and conceptual approach, the article situates archival literacy within information literacy discourse while examining shifts in the nature of archives in the digital environment. It proposes an understanding of archival literacy as a layered construct encompassing reflective ways of thinking, institutional capacity, and epistemic foundations. The discussion demonstrates that archival literacy should not be treated as a supplementary element of digital transformation, but rather as a conceptual prerequisite that shapes its quality and direction. This reframing underscores the role of archival literacy in sustaining context, meaning, and accountability of digital archives as integral to institutional memory and legitimacy.

Abstract

Tacit knowledge is implicit knowledge that plays a crucial role in experiential learning within information literacy communities, yet it is difficult to preserve due to its intangible nature. This study aims to identify transfer mechanisms, preservation strategies, and factors contributing to the vulnerability of tacit knowledge in volunteer-based communities. The study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following PRISMA 2020 guidelines using the Scopus database. A total of 10 articles were analyzed through qualitative thematic synthesis. The findings show that tacit knowledge transfer occurs through shared practices, mentoring, and experience-based learning. Preservation strategies include narrative documentation, reflective practices, and community strengthening. The vulnerability of tacit knowledge is influenced by weak documentation, high member turnover, and dependence on individuals. These findings highlight that preserving tacit knowledge requires strengthening social interaction and collective practices, not merely digitalization.

Abstract

This study addresses the prevalent issue of unethical user behavior towards library collections, which threatens their preservation. The main objective is to analyze the forms and underlying causes of these behaviors at the Library and Archives Service (Dispusip) of North Sumatra Province. This research employs a qualitative case study approach, utilizing direct observation, photographic documentation, and brief interviews as its methods. The results indicate a significant occurrence of unethical practices, such as page-folding (dog-earing), underlining or scribbling on pages, and mis-shelving books. These actions are categorized as “covert vandalism” and a lack of systemic awareness, stemming from a low sense of ethical responsibility among some users. Furthermore, the library’s efforts to foster user ethics are undermined by inconsistent policy communication, creating potential confusion. The study concludes that a gap exists between preservation goals and the cultivation of user ethics, recommending a shift towards proactive, consistent user education and harmonized policy communication.

Abstract

The growing availability of large bibliographic databases and analytical tools has accelerated the adoption of bibliometric methods across research fields worldwide. In Indonesia, bibliometric approaches have been widely applied across diverse domains; however, existing studies remain largely discipline-specific and lack a comprehensive national-level overview of how bibliometric research itself has developed. This study addresses this gap by conducting a systematic bibliometric analysis of bibliometric publications produced by Indonesian researchers. A total of 532 publications published between 2017 and 2025 were retrieved from the Scopus database and analyzed using bibliometric techniques, including descriptive analysis of study characteristics, co-authorship analysis, co-citation analysis, and keyword co-occurrence analysis with VOSviewer. The findings reveal that the development of bibliometric research in Indonesia has progressed through two phases: an initiation phase (2017–2020), characterized by relatively few but highly cited publications, and an expansion phase (2021–2026), marked by rapid growth and broader adoption across disciplines. These findings indicate that bibliometrics has evolved into a cross-disciplinary methodological bridge within the Indonesian research landscape, although its future development may depend on stronger integration between quantitative mapping techniques and theoretically grounded domain analysis.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the usage of children’s literature at the Southern Region Alternative Library (PEVITA) based on circulation data. This study focuses on users based on circulation data. It involves observing circulation data and conducting interviews with librarians and library users. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, where this study describes numerical data, such as the number of uses. Data collection techniques use semi-structured interviews, direct observation, and documentation. The results of this study show that first, the collection is evaluated based on user groups, classification numbers, year of publication, subjects and topics, and types of transactions. Second, collection usage based on user intensity: library users often spend approximately 2 hours in the library, user frequency: library users utilize 2 to 6 collections, collection dependency: library users are more dependent on the library location. There is a need to re-evaluate the points of subject and topic, borrowing transactions, and collection dependency. Recommendations for further research using a mixed method.

Abstract

The rapid development of AI has introduced new capabilities, including generating artwork without direct human intervention. However, this advancement has also raised concerns in the art world, such as unauthorized use of artists’ works and the potential decline of human creative labor. This study examines the information behavior of digital artists who are students at the University of Indonesia toward AI-generated artwork, using Wilson’s Model of Information Behavior (1996). A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through structured interviews with five informants and literature review, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings show that participants generally held an anti-AI stance, shaped largely by their social media information behavior. They were influenced by professional artists, both local and international, who expressed criticism of AI-generated art. Consequently, participants tended to reject AI-related content by blocking or reporting accounts and avoiding exposure to such works. This study highlights the need for appropriate policies, as AI directly impacts certain groups in society.
