Abstract

Coronary heart disease serves as the main cause of death in the world. One of the effort to reduce therisk of coronary heart disease is by consuming food containing antioxidant. Red fruit contains high antioxidant, namely β-carotine (700 ppm) and alphatocopherol (500 ppm). This study was intended to find out the effect of red fruit oil (Pandanus conoideus oil) toward the formation of foam cell in wistar rat (Rattus norvegicus) with atherogenic diet. This study was an experimental study, the design applied was complete randomized design with 3 repetitions. The treatment in this study wasthe addition of red fruit oil in standard diet andatherogenic one, comprising 8 groups, namely P0group (negative control), P1group (positive control), P2group (standard diet + red Fruit Oil 0,12 ml/day), P3group (standard diet + red Fruit Oil 0,24 ml/day),P4group (standard diet + red Fruit Oil 0,36 ml/day), P5group (atherogenic diet + red Fruit Oil 0,12 ml/day), P6group (atherogenic diet + red Fruit Oil 0,24 ml/day), and P7group (atherogenic diet + red Fruit Oil 0,36 ml/day). The parameter was the number of foam cells. The process and data analysisapplied Oneway Anova statistical test, followed with DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) statistical test. The result of Oneway Anova statistical test indicated that there was a significant difference of foam cell number among groups (p = 0,000). The conclusion inferred from this study is that the addition of red fruit oil with dosage 0.24 ml/day and 0,36 ml/day may significantly obstruct the formation of foam cell in wistar strain rat with atherogenic diet.

Abstract

During the mental development process, the adolescent will be exposed tonumerous events that might act as psychosocial stressors. These stressors might contribute to the prevalence of depression in adolescent. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of depression description of psychosocial stressor, and the relationship between psychosocial stressors and depression in adolescent. A cross sectional descriptive analytic study was conducted using 458 particiapants from three representative Senior High Schools in Malang district. The depression level was measured  using Beck Depression Inventory while Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale for Youth was used to mesure the  level of psychosocial stressor. It was found that prevalence of depression were as follows 32,5% of respondents with mild depression; 28,2% with moderate depression; and the remaining 11,1% withsevere depression. Of all particiapants, 59,6% experience a high level stressor, while the other 40,4% have low level stressor. The study identify a significant correlation (p<0.001)between depression level and level of psychosocial stressor. . The risk of having depression is 5.87 higher in respondents with high level of psychosocial stressor compare to those with low level psychosocial stressor (OR=5.87). Therefore, a cooperation between school, community and parent is highly advised toprovide a favourable environment for mental development in adolescent. In addition parents, school need to prepare the adolescent in order to anticipate numeros events that influence their mental health.

Abstract

Probiotic bacteria have a beneficial effect on diarrhea. In this study, we have examined effect of Lactobacillus plantarum Strain IS-10506 (LIS-10506) and IS-20506  (LIS-20506) on inhibition of NFκB activation, downregulation TNF Receptor-1 (TNF-R1) and Apoptosis in Epithelial Brush Border of Rattus novergicus induced with LPS. On the first day, LPS was inducedto Rattus novergicus per oral. At the 3rdday, Lactobacillus plantarum Strain IS-10506 and LIS20506 separately were supplemented for 7 days (the 3rdday up to the 9thday). Rat was sacrificed after anaesthetizing with ether to assess NFκB activation, TNFR1 and apoptosis. Result showed the decreases of activation NFκB in LIS-10506 group as well as in LIS-20506 group, significantly different, in NFκB activation at group with only LPS (average 14.33+4.509) compared to group with LIS-10506 induction (average 2.00+1.732)and LIS-20506 induction (average 1.33+1.528), at p( p<0.000). Downregulation of TNF-R1 was significant  at LPS group compared to LIS-10506 induction as well as LIS-20506 induction. The index of apoptosis showed significant of degradation (p<0.000) after induced by LIS, where LPS group (14.67+2.517), LIS-10506 induction (6.33+2.309) and LIS-20506 induction (6.00+3.000). As a conclusion, supplementation of LIS-10506 and LIS-20506 separately will inhibit theNFκB activation, and although the mechanism was not sure, what by significant degrade the expression TNF-R1( as ekuivalen of activity TNFα), and the mentioned give the implication that happened by the degradation of occurence apoptosis at cell of epitel bush border intestine.

Abstract

Dutch study shows that Upar expression content is significantly higher in tubercolusis patient’s psiphsy monosit compared to those in the healthy control group. So far, there is no biologic marker used whichcan accurately observe response improvement in the treatment of lung tubercolusis. The aim of this research is to investigate whether the serum level of soluble utokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) carries information in monitoring TB treatment for Lung Tuberculosis patients. suPAR was measured by ELISA in 21 individuals at the time of enrolment into observational cross sectional based on active tuberculosis  and 5 individuals as healthy control. There were 3 groups, 1). patients who had not started treatment (n=7),2). patients who had been treated for 2 months (n=7),  3). patients who had been treated for 6 months (n=7). Among groups, there were no difference in mean of body mass index, erythrocyte sedimentation rate and monocyte count. Patients positive for TB on direct  microscopy were 29% ( 6 from 21 patients) , 2 patients each groups. The suPAR levels were elevated in patients with active TB compared to healthy control (P<0,001). suPAR levels were highest in patients positive for TB on direct microscopy ( mean suPAR 4.455 ng/ml).

Abstract

Oocyte maturation is mediated by active Maturation  Promoting Factor (MPF) in ooplasma. Maturation Promoting Factor (MPF) is heterodimer protein consists of sub catalytic unit p34cdc2 and sub regulatorunit of cyclin-B. The regulation of maturation promoting factor (MPF) occures throught phosphorylation and dephosphorilation Cdc2 while its activities are controlled by the accumulation and periodical degradation from Cyclin-B during cell cycles development. Leptin inknown has role on oocyte maturation that works at mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK). MAPK belongs to protein kinase family Ser/Thr that interact with MPF in arranging the progresivennes of oocyte meiosis through the help of c-mos. This interaction is initiated phosphorilation of Ser-369 and Thr-577 in p90rsk. Key words:leptin, MPF, and oocyte maturation.

Abstract

Arteriogenesis and angiogenesis contribute both to  the damage and repair in hemorrhagic stroke. Understanding and unraveling the fundamental and mechanisms of these processes should facilitate the development of treatment strategies to improve outcome after stroke. This article describes briefly the basic principles of arteriogenesis and angiogenesis completed with some key molecular players, followed by aperspective of the author on how to use those neovascularization to benefit repair and recovery processes in post-hemorrhagic stroke. Key Words : arteriogenesis, angiogenesis, hemorrhagic, stroke
