Abstract

This study aims to examine the relevance of educational values depicted in the comic Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba to the concept of Islamic Religious Education (PAI). The main problem discussed focuses on how the moral, spiritual, and humanitarian values found in Demon Slayer can be integrated into Islamic education, which is rooted in the Qur’an and Hadith. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method using content analysis. Data sources were drawn from the comic’s narrative and visual elements, supported by scholarly literature. The findings reveal that values such as patience (ṣabr), empathy (raḥmah), sincerity (ikhlāṣ), responsibility (mas’uliyyah), hard work (ijtihād), and family love align closely with Islamic moral principles. Although Demon Slayer emphasizes humanistic and empirical learning, its values can serve as contextual educational tools within Islamic Religious Education when directed by divine principles. The study concludes that popular media like comics can function as effective pedagogical alternatives to instill spiritual awareness and Islamic character education among modern learners.

Abstract

This research focuses on improving students' skills in understanding the Quran and Hadith by implementing a contextually oriented learning strategy based on Piaget's cognitive theory. The methodology used involves library research, where information is gathered from various sources, including books, journals, and scientific articles. A contextual approach is believed to connect the material taught to students' real-life experiences and experiences, making learning easier to understand and apply in everyday life. The findings of this study indicate that the use of a contextual approach plays a positive role in improving students' understanding and motivation in the Quran and Hadith subject. Furthermore, this approach also contributes to improving students' abilities through a better understanding of the values contained in religious texts. By connecting religious teachings with everyday experiences, it is hoped that students can internalize Islamic values in their lives. The conclusion of this study confirms that the contextual approach is not only effective in improving the quality of Quran and Hadith learning but also very beneficial in supporting the goal of religious education to build student character in line with Islamic teachings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of Carl Rogers' humanistic learning theory in encouraging self-actualization of Students with Special Needs (PDBK) amidst the challenges of the mental health crisis. The main focus of the study was deaf students at the Marsudi Putra 2 Pandak Special Needs School in Bantul, D.I. Yogyakarta. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of Rogers' three pillars—unconditional positive regard, empathy, and congruence—served as the foundation for resilience for students. Teachers at the Marsudi Putra 2 Pandak Special Needs School adopted the role of facilitators and parental figures to create a safe space that was able to minimize the gap between students' real and ideal selves. The instructional strategies used included the Maternal Reflective Method (MMR), visual methods, lip reading, and total communication aimed at enriching vocabulary and training students' emotional stability. Despite facing challenges such as student learning boredom and complex verbal communication barriers, this humanistic approach proved effective in building a positive self-concept. Integrated social support between teachers, parents, and peers is a crucial factor in directing students' psychological energies toward self-actualization and the development of fully functioning individuals.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of Abraham Maslow’s humanistic theory in the learning process of Islamic Education (PAI) to enhance students' self-awareness and responsibility. Challenges such as moral crises and individualism demand a shift in PAI instructional methods, moving from mere cognitive knowledge transfer to a more humanistic approach. The methodology employed in this study is descriptive qualitative with a library research approach. Data were collected through the documentation of relevant literature and analyzed using content analysis and source triangulation. The results of this study indicate that the application of Maslow's hierarchy of needs in PAI creates a student-centered learning environment, where the fulfillment of basic needs (physiological, safety, and love/belonging) is a prerequisite for achieving self-actualization. The integration of art therapy methods proved effective as a medium for creative expression and strengthening the internalization of religious values and social empathy. Supporting factors include the teacher's role as a facilitator and an inclusive school environment, while hindering factors include a rigid academic orientation and limited teacher pedagogical competence in humanistic approaches. This study concludes that Abraham Maslow's humanistic approach can cultivate a holistic Muslim character through a balance of emotional, spiritual, and social aspects.

Abstract

Islamic Education (PAI) plays a crucial role in shaping students' character, morals, and spirituality. However, the PAI curriculum is often considered inadequate in addressing the evolving needs of modern times. To address this challenge, research and development (R&D) is a critical approach for creating a more adaptive, contextual, and innovative curriculum. This article discusses the importance of R&D in the innovation of the PAI curriculum, focusing on the role of research in uncovering various issues in the practice of teaching, such as the lack of connection between the material and real-life situations, as well as weaknesses in interactive teaching methods. Through a research-based approach, it is expected that the PAI curriculum can be developed to be more functional and transformative, in line with the times and the needs of students. Additionally, this article explores the benefits, challenges, and obstacles faced in the application of R&D in the PAI curriculum, as well as the R&D models that can be used for curriculum development. In conclusion, strong research can ensure that the innovation of the PAI curriculum effectively contributes to improving the quality of Islamic education and the development of students' character.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of madrasah principal leadership in improving the quality of education at RA Plus Darussalam Bojonegoro. The research was conducted using a qualitative case study approach to gain an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon in its natural context. Data were collected through technique triangulation, namely participatory observation, in-depth interviews with the madrasah principal, teachers, and parents, as well as document studies. Data were analyzed interactively using the Miles and Huberman model (data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing) with verification through source and method triangulation. The research findings indicate that the leadership role of the madrasah principal has been carried out optimally, encompassing roles as an educator, motivator, manager, administrator, supervisor, and entrepreneur. Quality improvement efforts were made through strategic planning based on self-evaluation, continuous teacher training, parenting class programs, and the development of institutional business units such as cooperatives and greenhouses. The results achieved include increased public interest, orderly administration, a conducive work climate, as well as improved teacher competence and parental understanding. It is concluded that the transformational leadership of the madrasah principal, supported by the synergy of all stakeholders, is the main key to sustainably improving the quality of education. This study recommends the need for continuous appreciation and support for madrasah principals and the strengthening of partnerships between schools and the community.
