Abstract

Globalization is an inevitability that cannot be avoided by humans living in this era. The effects of globalization can be both positive and negative. An example of a positive effect that can be enjoyed by society is the rapid advancement of technology. In addition, they will be able to obtain information very quickly. However, if society is not ready, many negative effects will arise, one of which is a decline in morals and ethics. Therefore, this article attempts to offer a philosophical study related to moral education according to Ibn Miskawaih, which hopefully can answer contemporary educational challenges, especially those related to moral education. The author chose a qualitative approach with the type of Library Research using the book Primer Tahdzbul Akhlak (Primer on Moral Education) in its translated version and the book Filsafat pendidikan Islam membentuk Pendidikan Karakter (Islamic Philosophy of Education Shapes Character Education) by Prof. Dr. H. Maragustam Siregar, M.A., combined with other secondary sources. The results of the study explain that Ibn Miskawaih's thoughts on moral education were influenced by Greek philosophy, the Buwaih Dynasty period, and Islamic religious foundations. Furthermore, Ibn Miskawaih's educational model tends to optimize reason based on Islamic religious studies (foundations) in the process of forming Islamic morals. Meanwhile, the moral education material offered is the Middle Path, namely Qona'ah, Syaja'ah, Hikmah, Iffah, and 'Adalah.

Abstract

This study seeks to examine the development of Islamophobia around the world following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that destroyed the World Trade Center in the United States and killed 2,977 people. The 9/11 incident triggered a "war on terror" campaign by U.S. President George W. Bush that focused on Islam and extremist groups such as Al-Qaeda. In addition to China and Russia, the United States—as a superpower—perceived Islam as a significant potential threat to global stability, given Islam’s historical role as a major power. This campaign indirectly fueled hatred toward Islam, known as Islamophobia, which influenced many countries in the West, Europe, and Asia. This study aims to analyze the various forms of Islamophobia in India, France, and Indonesia between 2013 and 2024, using a qualitative method and primary data sources such as books, journals, media, and research reports.

Abstract

Baitul Maal wa Tamwil (BMT) is pivotal to Islamic financial inclusion and MSME resilience; however, digital disruption, financing risks, and governance gaps challenge its sustainability. A clear sustainability strategy is crucial for BMT's competitiveness and its contribution to the national Islamic finance agenda. This study formulates an integrated Islamic management framework to strengthen BMT sustainability in the digital era. An integrative literature review (2021–2025) with thematic synthesis was employed. Sources include peer-reviewed national/international journals, as well as pertinent regulations. Studies were identified through keyword searches ("BMT," "digitalization," "Islamic management," "risk management," "human capital," "maqasid al-shariah"), screened at the title/abstract level, and their full texts assessed, coded, and synthesized across five themes. (1) Islamic governance grounded in tawhid–amanah–'adl–ihsan, strengthened by Sharia Supervisory Boards and SAK-EP, enhances accountability and trust. (2) Digital solutions—mobile apps, sharia e-wallets, lean core banking, and big-data analytics—improve efficiency and access despite literacy/infrastructure constraints. (3) Islamic risk management using partnership contracts, financing diversification, and digital credit scoring helps reduce NPF. (4) Human-capital upgrading—fiqh muamalah, digital literacy, and Islamic leadership—builds a productive and ethical culture. (5) Maqasid al-shariah integration balances financial, social, and spiritual objectives. The study integrates five critical pillars into a cohesive, operational framework for BMT sustainability—an approach that has not been comprehensively articulated in prior works. Managers should institutionalize Islamic governance, scale prudent digitalization, and invest in capacity building. Regulators/local governments are advised to provide incentives, infrastructure, and consumer-protection standards. The proposed framework offers actionable guidance and a policy basis to bolster Islamic microfinance competitiveness.

Abstract

Web series is a popular and relevant digital series format for Generation Z. This study aims to analyze the Expectancy Violations Theory (EVT) phenomenon in the friendship dynamics of Dian and Rian in the Setapak web series, while also applying EVT to contemporary digital media narratives. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection was conducted through in-depth content analysis of verbal and non-verbal interactions in Episode Two of the web series on YouTube, supplemented by unstructured interviews with the production team. Data were analyzed using Thematic Analysis. The results of the study indicate that a negative expectancy violation occurred in the episode. This violation was triggered by Rian's job offer at a photocopy shop to Dian after her graduation, which Dian perceived as an act of belittling her competence and bachelor's degree. These findings specifically confirm three core EVT: Dian's higher career expectations, negative Violation Valence, and a decrease in Rian's Communicator Reward Valence. Setapak successfully reflects how misalignment of assessments of individual aspirations can trigger significant conflict in Generation Z friendships. This study emphasizes the importance of empathetic communication and support for personal goals as the foundation of harmonious relationships

Abstract

In a situation where market price fluctuations often harm vegetable farmers, a fair and sustainable empowerment model is needed. This study examines the role of the Nurul Ashri Mosque Movement in Yogyakarta in the Vegetable Farmer Welfare Program as a form of religious community participation in responding to the economic crisis faced by farmers. The research approach is qualitative, employing a case study method, utilizing in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The results indicate that the mosque serves as an initiator and facilitator in the direct distribution of harvest produce from farmers to consumers through schemes such as jastip (direct delivery), free vegetable bazaars, and distribution to institutions. This program not only improves farmers' welfare but also revives the social function of mosques as centers of community activity. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of religious values with a community economic approach, strengthening social solidarity. Mosques have proven to be strategic actors in inclusive and equitable local economic development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of Islamic financial literacy among Muhammadiyah scholars in Cirebon Regency. Islamic financial literacy plays a strategic role in promoting the use of financial products and services that comply with Sharia principles. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using in-depth interviews with several Muhammadiyah scholars who possess religious authority and social influence. The collected data were analyzed descriptively through the stages of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, accompanied by source triangulation to ensure validity. The findings indicate that most Muhammadiyah scholars possess a solid basic understanding of Islamic financial principles; however, their comprehension of Sharia contracts and contemporary financial instruments remains limited. Factors such as educational background, experience, access to information, and engagement in Sharia-based economic activities significantly influence their level of literacy. These results underscore the necessity of more structured and continuous Islamic financial education and mentoring programs for scholars so that they can play a more effective role as agents of Islamic economic literacy within society.

Abstract

Arabic for Specific Purposes (ASP) learning is an important innovation in the development of contemporary Arabic language education, especially in the midst of the demands of globalization and the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. This study is motivated by the need to direct Arabic language learning to be more relevant to specific academic, professional, and social contexts, so that students not only master linguistic aspects, but also be able to communicate effectively in their scientific or professional fields. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method sourced from scientific journals and the latest academic literature on ASP. The results of the study show that the success of learning Arabic for special purposes is highly determined by the implementation of needs analysis, the design of relevant curriculum, and the application of task-based learning and content-based instruction. In addition, the integration of digital technology and cross-field collaboration are important factors in increasing the effectiveness and usefulness of ASP in various educational institutions. This study concludes that ASP is able to bridge the gap between Arabic learning theory and the increasingly dynamic needs of the academic and professional world. The relevance of this study lies in its contribution in enriching the discourse on the development of Arabic language education in Indonesia, especially in building a learning paradigm that is contextual, flexible, and competency-oriented in the 21st century. Therefore, the implementation of ASP needs to be made a strategic priority in Arabic language education policies in order to be able to respond to global challenges and strengthen the position of Arabic as a language of science, culture, and international communication.

Abstract

The concept of shāliḥ in the Qur’an is often narrowly interpreted as individual spiritual piety, while in fact it encompasses broader social and leadership dimensions. Such a partial understanding may lead to the neglect of social responsibility and moral leadership in Muslim society. This study aims to: (1) examine the linguistic meaning of the term shāliḥ in the Qur’an; (2) analyze how al-Qurṭubī interprets verses containing the term; and (3) explore its relevance in individual, social, and leadership contexts. This research uses a qualitative approach through library research and applies thematic interpretation (tafsīr mawḍū‘ī). The findings indicate that al-Qurṭubī views shāliḥ as an integrative concept that connects ritual devotion, social responsibility, and ethical leadership. The study implies that the understanding of piety should be expanded beyond ritual obedience toward contributing to social justice. This perspective is relevant to Islamic education, public preaching, and social policy to foster a more holistic vision of piety in contemporary Muslim societies.
