Abstract

This study was motivated by the urgent need for adaptive leadership in integrated Islamic schools to respond to the fluctuating dynamics of teacher performance. The main focus of this study is to analyze the implementation of contingent leadership by the principal in carrying out his functions as a leader, motivator, and educator at SDIT An Naajiyah Kubu Raya. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through a case study design, data were collected through non-participatory observation techniques, semi-structured interviews with the principal and five teachers, as well as curriculum and management documentation. Data analysis was conducted interactively, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the principal functions as a leader who demonstrates the ability to adapt his leadership style to various situations that occur at school. The principal functions as a motivator through the creation of a positive work climate, the giving of rewards, and moral and spiritual support. The principal functions as an educator through the implementation of academic supervision, professional development, and ongoing mentoring. Overall, the principal is able to comprehensively carry out his role as a leader, motivator, and educator in improving the quality of performance and the learning environment at school. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of Fiedler's contingency theory with Islamic leadership values in the context of elementary schools. The implication is that this model has proven effective in creating a conducive work climate and significantly improving teacher professionalism amid the challenges of 21st-century education.

Abstract

The Safari Dakwah Ramadhan initiative represents a concrete manifestation of community engagement undertaken by students of the Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Bahasa Arab (STIBA) Ar raayah. The program seeks to revitalize Islamic values, strengthen ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood), and cultivate social awareness within Indonesian society. Implemented concurrently across various regions during the final ten days of Ramadan 1446 H, the program reflects the institution’s commitment to integrative religious and social development. The activities encompassed free iftar distribution, Islamic lectures, Qur’anic study circles, recitations, speeches, charitable contributions to orphans and the underprivileged, as well as interregional online discussions. The successful execution of these activities was made possible through the support of donors, local communities, and the collaborative spirit of the participating students. The community demonstrated strong enthusiasm and warmly welcomed the presence of young preachers, particularly due to the program’s tangible spiritual and social contributions. This study adopts a descriptive qualitative approach through field research, which aligns with the contextual characteristics of the Safari Dakwah Ramadhan program. The findings reveal that the Safari Dakwah program produced a positive and multidimensional impact on both the community and the student participants. The community exhibited heightened religious motivation and social awareness during Ramadan, while the students gained experiential learning that enriched their competencies in da’wah and leadership. This study concludes that a collaborative, humanistic, and educational model of da’wah can serve as an effective instrument for fostering a society grounded in faith, knowledge, and noble character.

Abstract

This study examines the Arabic language curriculum at the Mutawassiṭah level in relation to the development of listening skills (maharah istimāʿ). As one of the fundamental receptive skills, listening competence serves as the foundation for students’ overall language acquisition. Therefore, analyzing how the curriculum structure, objectives, and instructional content support the development of maharah istimāʿ is essential. This research employs a qualitative approach using document analysis of curriculum documents, syllabi, and Arabic language instructional materials at the Mutawassiṭah level. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and descriptive-analytical conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the curriculum incorporates objectives and content relevant to the development of listening skills across the affective, cognitive, and psychomotor domains. In the affective domain, the curriculum fosters students’ motivation and positive attitudes toward engaging in listening activities. In the cognitive domain, it emphasizes mastery of phonological features, vocabulary, and grammatical structures that underpin listening comprehension. In the psychomotor domain, structured listening exercises and guided practice are designed to enhance students’ ability to identify sounds, interpret spoken texts, and respond appropriately. Overall, the curriculum demonstrates alignment between learning objectives and instructional content in supporting the systematic development of maharah istimāʿ at the Mutawassiṭah level.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the dominance of conventional tarkib (Arabic grammar) tests that emphasise rule memorisation and iʿrāb analysis, so they do not yet reflect learners’ ability to use sentence structures communicatively. It aims to describe the conceptual development of a CEFR-oriented evaluation instrument for tarkib and to map syntactic ability indicators across proficiency levels. Using qualitative, descriptive library research with content analysis of key works on Arabic language testing and language assessment design, the study formulates hierarchically ordered indicators of tarkib ability from A1 to C2 based on accuracy, structural complexity, and contextual appropriateness. The findings also organise representative item formats multiple choice, completion, sentence transformation, error recognition and correction, iʿrāb analysis, and productive sentence-making into a coherent blueprint for communicative tarkib assessment that can guide teachers and curriculum designers in constructing more diagnostic, level-sensitive tests.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the design of the Arabic language curriculum by examining its components and relevance to 21st-century learning needs. The background of this research is based on the increasing demand for education that is responsive and adaptive to global challenges, particularly in the digital era and the Industrial Revolution 4.0. The research focuses on aligning Arabic language learning with essential skills of the 21st century, including critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, digital literacy, and cross-cultural competence. A qualitative descriptive method was employed by reviewing relevant literature, research findings, and policy documents on Arabic language education and curriculum innovation. The results indicate that the Arabic curriculum needs to integrate technology, project-based learning, and culturally contextual materials to enhance communication skills and real-world application among students. Furthermore, periodic teacher training is essential to master modern teaching methods and utilize supportive technologies effectively. Evaluation systems should also be more comprehensive by incorporating both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. This study concludes that the design of the Arabic language curriculum should not only serve as a guide for teaching but also as a strategic instrument to equip students with global competencies aligned with the demands of the 21st century.

Abstract

Current global higher education is undergoing a transformation toward the Research University model; however, in the context of Islamic education, this discourse often falls into a technocratic approach that neglects the Quranic epistemological foundations. This study aims to discuss how concepts within the Quran can serve as a basis for building and developing research universities in the global era. The method employed is qualitative library research with a philosophical-epistemological analysis approach. Data sources consist of relevant primary and secondary scientific works, analyzed using thematic and descriptive analysis techniques. The results show that the "Iqra" command in the Quran is a theological mandate for research activities that must be based on the name of Allah (bismi rabbika) to maintain a moral compass. The development of an Islamic research university can be operationalized through four pillars: dynamic knowledge production (Al-Harakah al-Jawhariyyah), publication integrity (Ittehad al-Aqil wa al-Ma’qul), innovation through creative science (Al-Hikmah), and intellectual openness (Tajaddud al-Amthal). Strategic steps include curriculum reconstruction based on Ulul Albab, strengthening a critical culture (Burhan), interdisciplinary approaches, and implementing research ethics based on Akhlakul Karimah. This study concludes that a Quran-based research university is not merely an academic institution but a form of intellectual worship and "Modern-Day Ijtihad" to realize the welfare of the people (Rahmatan lil 'Alamin).

Abstract

The implementation of character education at Al-Wildan Junior High School and Al-Wildan Senior High School through an overseas program at the Islamic University of Madinah is designed to comprehensively internalize Islamic character values among students. This program integrates religious instruction with international educational experiences to foster students’ moral integrity, independence, and global competitiveness. This study adopts a qualitative research design. Data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, involving teachers and students from Al-Wildan Junior and Senior High Schools. The data were analyzed descriptively through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the program effectively integrates academic learning with character development within a supportive educational environment, resulting in significant positive changes in students. These improvements are evident across several dimensions, including Arabic language proficiency, diniyah studies and Qur’anic competence, worship practices and moral conduct, as well as independence and learning motivation. Overall, the program contributes to enhancing students’ quality and capacity and is expected to produce graduates with strong character who are well prepared to face global challenges.

Abstract

This study investigates ḍa‘īf (weak) and mauḍū‘  (fabricated) ḥadīṡ by integrating classical ḥadīṡ sciences (‘ulūm al-ḥadīṡ) with the perspective of the philosophy of science. The research is motivated by the concern over the prevalent use of ḍa‘īf and mauḍū‘  ḥadīṡ among muslims, particularly in religious activities. Employing a qualitative library research method, this study analyzes primary data consisting of classical texts on ḍa‘īf and mauḍū‘  ḥadīṡ, alongside secondary data covering epistemology and modern philosophy of science literature. The findings reveal a significant distinction between ḍa‘īf and mauḍū‘  ḥadīṡ from both ḥadīṡ science and epistemological perspectives, despite their shared failure to meet the requirements of authenticity (ṣahīh). Ḍa‘īf ḥadīṡ retains an empirical existence within the transmission chain that can be traced through the science of narrators (rijāl al-ḥadīṡ) and offers spiritual utility, albeit limited to virtuous deeds (faḍāīl al-a’māl). In contrast, mauḍū‘  ḥadīṡ is categorized as pseudo-knowledge or false information that threatens the purity of Islamic teachings.

Abstract

Contemporary Islamic education faces a range of serious challenges, including moral crisis, the widespread practice of corruption, the strengthening of intolerant attitudes, and the weak integration between religious knowledge and social realities. These conditions indicate that education which emphasizes cognitive and normative aspects alone has not been effective in shaping students with strong integrity. Therefore, a more holistic and transformative educational approach is required through the integration of humanistic education and anti-corruption education within the context of Islamic education. This study aims to conceptually examine the integration of humanistic education and anti-corruption education in Islamic education, identify relevant Islamic values as the foundation for this integration, and analyze its implications for the practice and policies of Islamic education at various levels. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected through document analysis of books, journal articles, and other relevant scholarly sources, and were analyzed descriptively and analytically. The findings indicate that humanistic values in Islam—such as justice (‘adl), compassion (rahmah), honesty (ṣidq), and trustworthiness (amanah)—are strongly aligned with the principles of anti-corruption education. The integration of these two approaches can be implemented through value-based curriculum development, contextual and reflective learning approaches, educators’ role modeling, and the cultivation of a school or madrasah culture grounded in integrity. The relevance and implementation of this study demonstrate that the integration of humanistic and anti-corruption education contributes to strengthening the role of Islamic education as a means of forming insan kamil—individuals who are humanistic, moderate, and possess strong integrity. These findings are expected to serve as both theoretical and practical references for educators, administrators of Islamic educational institutions, and policymakers in developing Islamic education that is responsive to contemporary moral and social challenges.

Abstract

The primary purpose of this research is to comprehensively elaborate on the distinctiveness of fundamental issues in the science of usul al-fiqh and to purify this discipline from external elements that cause confusion among students. To achieve this objective, the research employs a qualitative method through inductive and deductive approaches to analyze classic texts, specifically focusing on data collection from Ibn Rushd's Mukhtasar Al-Mustashfa. The results and discussion clearly demonstrate that Ibn Rushd Al-Hafid significantly contributed to the trajectory of istidrak and scientific correction. Specifically, he corrected Al-Ghazali's views on eleven different issues encompassing theology, jurisprudence, and grammar that were inappropriately incorporated into usul al-fiqh. The analysis concludes that Ibn Rushd's perspectives in these corrections are precise and accurate. The impact of this research lies in its specific focus on reaffirming the epistemological boundaries of usul al-fiqh, ensuring it remains pure and unmixed with other disciplines, which provides a fresh perspective in analyzing classical literature critically
