Abstract

The current moral decline is predominantly driven by teenagers. The highly unstable lives of teenagers lead many to direct them in both negative and positive ways. Adolescents are still unstable and have yet to discover their true identity. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to provide insight so that they can have a clear concept of self-identity as they move towards physical and spiritual maturity. This research usesmixed method concurrent triangulationThis is a combined study using qualitative and quantitative methods simultaneously and in a balanced manner. The findings from the two studies will be combined for simultaneous interpretation and discussion. In the final stage, the findings from the two studies are summarized, deepened, expanded, and provided meaning in the discussion. The method of learning the science of faith in classical books is carried out through reading classical books in a modern way by interpreting the books as well as translating the book's intent. Abstract

This study developed and conceptually validated a research-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model for preparing master's students in Islamic Religious Education to investigate instructional problems and use evidence to design Islamic Cultural History (SKI) instruction. Educational research and development used a qualitatively dominant multimethod design because the central task was interpretive: explaining how documented gaps, artefacts, stakeholder accounts, and disciplinary requirements should be translated into design decisions. Descriptive quantitative data were used to indicate salience and expert consensus rather than population effects. Needs evidence showed weak alignment among outcomes, project milestones, research activity, historical reasoning, assessment, feedback, and revision. The integrated analysis generated eleven design requirements, five competence dimensions, and a nine-stage course syntax linking alignment, authentic diagnosis, SKI-context analysis, theory-evidence synthesis, project planning, concept selection, prototype construction, academic review-revision, and reflective communication. Four experts rated 400 items; 355 received a score of 5 and 45 a score of 4, producing a mean of 4.89 and 97.75% conceptual feasibility. The study contributes a traceable postgraduate design architecture, while practicality, fidelity, assessment reliability, equity, and effectiveness remain to be tested empirically.

Abstract

This article examines how the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are interpreted and implemented at the village level in Indonesia. While the SDGs are designed as a universal, target-based global policy framework, their implementation varies significantly across local contexts. Drawing on qualitative case studies of ‘Kampung SDGs’ and ‘Pesantren SDGs’ in East Java, this study explores how global norms are localized through social, cultural, and institutional processes. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with government officials, village facilitators, civil society actors, religious leaders, document analysis, and field observations. The results reveal that the SDGs are well-internalized as genuine developmental values and are hardly achieved in terms of their original technical specification. Instead, local subjects reinterpret the SDGs in terms of their moral, religious, and cultural values, and this leads to the decentring of global targets and indicators. Because of policy vagueness and state capacity deficits at the local level, the interpretation of policy implementation lies not only in the local government apparatus but also in other non-state subjects. This paper confirms and contributes to the discussion on norm diffusion, norm localization, and its implementation, and shows that the internalization of a policy does not always require its technical implementation.

Abstract

This article examines Malay manuscripts as media of cultural memory in the transmission of Islamic knowledge in the Malay-Indonesian world. Rather than treating manuscripts only as philological sources, material objects, or historical documents, it asks how material form, textual patterning, and social use jointly stabilize knowledge across generations. The study employs a qualitative manuscript-based design integrating codicological description, philological and textual-critical reading, thematic coding, and Jan Assmann's cultural memory theory. Three analytically contrasting texts are purposively selected: Syair Dang Sarat, Hikayat Hang Tuah, and Hikayat Bayan Budiman. The analysis identifies three genre-specific memory regimes: ritual-poetic memory in Syair Dang Sarat, exemplary-political memory in Hikayat Hang Tuah, and dialogic-didactic memory in Hikayat Bayan Budiman. Comparison shows that Islamic manuscript epistemology is produced not by textual content alone but through the interaction of Jawi script, material support, recurrent formula, narrative structure, recitation, and circulation. Malay manuscripts therefore function as epistemic infrastructures that localize Islamicate knowledge while shaping moral pedagogy, authority, and communal identity. The study further argues that preservation should retain provenance, material and textual metadata, and evidence of use rather than treating digitization as image capture alone.

Abstract

This study aims to understand students’ experiences of receiving rewards (targhīb) and punishments (tarhīb) in everyday learning. To achieve this aim, the study employed a qualitative approach using Edmund Husserl’s transcendental phenomenological design. This approach was selected for three interrelated reasons: to explore the lived experiences of students, teachers, and administrators regarding the implementation of targhīb and tarhīb in Islamic education; to apply Husserl’s concept of intentionality in understanding how participants construct meaning from their experiences; and to employ transcendental reduction and bracketing to identify the essential structures underlying those experiences. The findings show that targhīb and tarhīb at MHM, Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School, function not merely as behavioral control mechanisms in the behaviorist sense, but as transcendental pedagogical practices that cultivate moral and spiritual awareness. Punishments such as performing 100 cycles of repentance prayer, doing push-ups, or receiving a light finger flick are understood as forms of tazkiyah and expressions of teachers’ care, while rewards such as taking photographs with the masyāikh are perceived as symbols of blessing and spiritual prestige.

Abstract

This study examines the epistemological problems involved in applying the concept of necessity (darūraḥ) to determine the legality of medical abortion under Islamic law. To date, darūraḥ has often been treated as a binary condition (either present or absent), without clear gradations, thereby giving rise to interpretative ambiguity and legal inconsistencies. This study aims to develop a graded typology of darūraḥ through the concepts of hadd ̣ al-akhaf (minimum threshold) and hadd ̣ al-asqal (maximum threshold) within the framework of Maqāsid ̣ al-Syarī‘ah as the epistemological foundation of Islamic law. Using a qualitative method with a normative-empirical approach and deductive analysis, this study found that a graded typology of darūraḥ allows for the systematic differentiation of levels of necessity based on the degree of danger, threat to life, availability of alternatives, the affected Maqāsid ̣, and the proportionality of maslaḥ aḥ and mafsadah. At the minimum level (hadd al-akhaf̣), abortion is permitted on a conditional basis (rukhsaḥ) in cases such as severe foetal abnormalities or rape, prior to 120 days. At the maximum level (hadd al-asqaḷ), abortion becomes obligatory (ibāhaḥ) to save the mother’s life, even after 120 days. This research contributes to the development of contemporary usul al-fiqh by providing an operational and measurable analytical framework, whilst bridging the gap between classical Islamic legal theory and the challenges of modern bioethics. Its practical implications include guidance for fatwas, clinical decisions and Sharia-based health policies.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a conceptual model of digital learning innovation management in Islamic education through the integration of educational technology, Project-Based Learning (PBL), and gamification. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research design by analyzing relevant scientific literature from reputable journals, books, and international reports. Data were collected through systematic literature review and analyzed using content analysis techniques, including data reduction, categorization, synthesis, and interpretation. The findings indicate that the effectiveness of digital learning innovation is strongly influenced by technological accessibility, student engagement, and the integration of pedagogical strategies. The use of digital platforms such as Learning Management Systems enhances interaction and flexibility in learning, while PBL and gamification significantly improve students’ motivation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. However, challenges related to digital inequality and resource management remain critical issues in the implementation process. The novelty of this study lies in the development of an integrative conceptual framework that connects technological accessibility, student engagement, and learning outcomes within the context of Islamic education management. This study contributes both theoretically and practically by providing a strategic model for managing innovative learning in Islamic educational institutions.
