Jurnal ini menerbitkan berbagai artikel tentang kajian ilmiah dan hasil penelitian pendidikan baik dalam pengertian luas (pendidikan secara umum) maupun khusus (menunjuk pada bidang-bidang studi tertentu). Pemuatan suatu artikel diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi pada pengembangan konsep keilmuan dan aplikasinya atau pada pemahaman pendidikan di Indonesia. Jurnal CP terbit tiga kali dalam satu tahun, yaitu edisi Februari, Juni, dan November, diterbitkan oleh LPPMP Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta

Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penguasaan konsep konservasi biodiversitas guru biologi dan cara mengajarkannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan menggunakan angket pada 31 guru SMA/MA di Kota/Kab Serang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 52% guru telah memahami konsep biodiversitas, namun hanya 3% yang memahami konsep konservasi. Model yang digunakan guru dalam mengajarkan konservasi biodiversitas, 58% menggunakan observasi, 45% diskusi, 23% ceramah dan 16% tanya jawab. Untuk tingkat kesukaran, 87% guru beranggapan mudah memahami materi konservasi biodiversitas dan 81% beranggapan mudah mengajarkannya dibandingkan dengan materi IPA lainnya. Guru-guru selama ini hanya 6% saja yang memperoleh pengetahuan tentang konservasi biodiversitas pada saat pelatihan. Oleh sebab itu diperlukan pelatihan-pelatihan melalui Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Kata Kunci: guru profesional, konservasi biodiversitas, continuing professional development (CPD) BIOLOGY TEACHERS’ PROFESSIONAL ABILITY IN UNDERSTANDING AND DESIGNING INSTRUCTION ON BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION IN SMA Abstract: The purpose of this study was to gain the knowledge about biology teachers’ concept mastery on biodiversity conservation as well as how to teach it. This study used descriptive methods with the questionnaires to 31 respondents of SMA/MA in Kota/KabSerang. The research result showed that 52% respondents had mastered the biodiversity concept. However, only 3% of respondents had fully mastered biodiversity conservation. In addition, for the teaching methods 58% respondents used observation, 45% respondents used discussion, 23% respondents used lecturing and 16% respondents used an interactive method. Moreover, for the difficulty level, 87% of respondents argued that it was easy to master the biodiversity conservation materials and 81% said that it was easier to teach the concept than other concepts. Only 6% of the teachers had gained the knowledge about biodiversity conservation when they had the training. Thus, the training is urgently needed to train the teachers in order to guarantee the Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Abstract

Tak perlu diingkari bahwa sampai saat ini kemajuandunia ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi telah mengalami perkembangandengan pesat. Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuantersebut dialami oleh hampir semua masyarakat di muka. bumi ini, meskipun dalam kenyataannya perkembangantersebut memerlukan proses waktu yang berbeda-beda antarasatu masyarakat dengan masyarakat yang lain•.Bahkan untukmasyarakat tertentu perkembangan tersebut 'tetasa sangatlambat.Tampaknya selain kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan danteknologi tersebut dapat mempermudah aktivitas manusiadalam mencapai tujuannya juga memiliki dampak negatifyang kadang-kadang sangat mempengaruhi situasi masyarakattersebut. Abstract

Abstract: Work Preparation and Coaching Intensity to Improve MechanicalEngineering Students Academic Achievement in the Machinery Practicum in theEngineering Faculty of the Yogyakarta State University. This study aims to revealthe effects of the work preparation and coaching system for mechanical engineeringstudents of the Engineering Faculty of the Yogyakarta State University on the 3rdMachinery Practicum. This study was a classroom action research study. Thepopulation comprised all the students and the sample consisted of 19 3rd semesterstudents. The data were collected through questionnaires, observations, anddocuments and analyzed by quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques.The results are as follows. 1) The work preparation and coaching system ran welland was conducted in 10 weeks (2 cycles). The work preparation was made by thestudents before the class started. They consulted the lecturer 10 minutes before. Thecoaching was effective if it was carried out every 30 minutes since that class started.2) The students passed this practicum if they obtained a score of 78.15 andsuccessfully finished 5 of 7 jobs. 3) The process ran well and the students showed agood attitude towards work and worked seriously.Keywords: work preparation, coaching intensity

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor penentu komitmen organisasi kepala SMK di Kota Medan, dan menentukan model teoretik yang dapat menggambarkan hubungan kausalistik antarvariabel laten yang menentukan komitmen organisasi kepala sekolah. Populasi penelitian sebanyak 152 orang dan sampel 110 yang diambil dengan teknik proportional random sampling. Data komitmen organisasi, budaya organisasi, kepemimpinan, komunikasi interpersonal, dan kepuasan kerja dijaring dengan menggunakan kuesioner model skala Likert. Uji persyaratan analisis mencakup uji normalitas data dan uji linieritas regresi, sedangkan untuk menguji hipotesis penelitian digunakan path analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesepuluh hipotesis yang diajukan berpengaruh langsung terhadap hal-hal terkait yang dikaji. Berdasarkan penerimaan kesepuluh hipotesis penelitian, ditemukan s s u u a a t t u u model teoretik yang menggambarkan struktur hubungan kausal antara variabel budaya organisasi, kepemimpinan, komunikasi interpersonal, kepuasan kerja, dan komitmen organisasi kepala SMK. Abstract

AbstractUniversally, various psychological aspects of children develop through certain stages according to their age level. They go through stages of intellectual,moral and emotional developments, stages of personality and language developments, and stages in the growth of their concept about stories. Each type of development is divided into specific stages. Piaget divides childrens intellectual development, for example, into four stages: the sensory-motor, pre-operational, concrete operational, and formal operational stages. These stages come in accordance with their age development.Each stage has characteristics distinguishing it from anya other stage. The difference in characteristics logically implies in turn a difference in their response to reading matter. Consequently, in selecting reading matter for children, one should consider their age in order to make the selection match their psychological development of children of a certain age level would make the reading matter become uncommunicative because it is too difficult for them or make it uninteresting and boring for them because it is too easy or too simple.Key words: psychological development, intellectual development, selection of reading matter

Abstract

Abstrak: Perguruan tinggi vokasi dihadapkan pada tuntutan untuk meningkatkan kontribusi dan relevansinya dalam peningkatan daya saing kawasan industri di Batam dan sekitarnya melalui dukungan sumber daya manusia. Selain itu, perguruan tinggi vokasi di Batam juga dihadapkan pada tantangan untuk menemukan formula yang tepat untuk ditawarkan kepada masyarakat. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persaingan yang dihadapi oleh perguruan tinggi di Batam dan kemudian secara khusus memetakan posisi Politeknik Batam di tengah perguruan tinggi lainnya. Data dianalisis dengan teknik dskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif yang berupa statistik deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil survei kepada 1970 lulusan SMA dan yang sederajat dan studi dokumen kliping koran selama satu tahun, penelitian ini mengindikasikan ketatnya tingkat persaingan pendidikan tinggi di Batam dilihat dari lima kekuatan Porter. Lebih lanjut, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan tinggi vokasi di Batam berada pada kondisi yang lemah dengan kompetitor yang lebih unggul. Abstract

AbstractPronunciation is an essential part in a language, for the nature of language is spoken. But, most learners of English in the environment where a research was undertaken faced problems with the pronunciationof English. This study aims (1) finding out the effectiveness of dubbing as a technique for teaching the pronunciation of English, and (2) identifying the commonly mispronounced sounds of English.The experimental study involved semester 1 students of English Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto in the Academic Year 2005/2006. Out of 120 students that had been split into 5 smaller groups by the managementauthority for practical purpose, 2 groups have been chosen as the research sample groups on the basis of equality in the pre-test result. Group A2 has been the Experimental Group and group A1 has been the Control Group. The teaching and learning process in the former employed dubbing system as the main technique, while the classroom learning activities in the latter used drill in most of the time. After 6 sessions (within 6 weeks) a post-test was administered. Data collectedthrough the post-test were analyzed using descriptive statistical operations of mean, frequency distribution, percentage and the t-test inferential statistical tool.Results of the research data analyses have revealed that teaching pronunciation with dubbing technique has not given a satisfactory outcome and a significant effect on the pronunciation mastery. To this finding dubbing is not recommended for use in teaching the pronunciationof English, but of course further studies on related content are immediately required to confirm this finding. Results of the data analyses have also shown that [], [əu], [ei], and [ə] constitute the most commonly mispronounced vowel sounds of English. Based on this finding, careful attention should be paid to these sounds when we teach the vowel sounds of English.Key words: effectiveness, dubbing, the pronunciation of English, drill

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran kemampuan berpikir terhadap prestasi belajar mata kuliah evaluasi pendidikan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian survei korelasional, dengan populasi mahasiswa pendidikan matematika UNINDRA. Sampel diambil dengan teknik multistage random sampling sejumlah 60 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah angket dan tes. Analisis data menggunakan regresi berganda. Dari pengolahan data diperoleh hasil: (1) terdapat pengaruh kemampuan berpikir lateral terhadap prestasi belajar evaluasi pendidikan; (2) terdapat pengaruh kemampuan berpikir positif terhadap prestasi belajar evaluasi pendidikan; dan (3) terdapat pengaruh kemampuan berpikir lateral dan kemampuan berpikir positif secara bersama-sama terhadap prestasi belajar evaluasi pendidikan.Kata Kunci: berpikir lateral, berpikir positif, prestasi belajar, evaluasi pendidikanTHE ROLE OF LATERAL AND POSITIVE THINKING ON LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT OF EDUCATIONAL COURSESAbstract: This research aimed at analyzing the role of the thinking ability on learning achievement. The study applied a correlational survey research design. The population was the UNINDRA Mathematics education students. The sample, taken by a multistage random sampling technique, involved 60 students. The instruments were in the forms of questionnaires and tests. The data were analyzed using multiple regression. The findings showed that (1) lateral thinking ability had a positive and significant impact on learning achievement; (2) positive thinking ability had a positive and significant impact on learning achievement; (3) lateral thinking and positive thinking abilities had positive and significant simultaneous impact on learning achievement.Keywords: lateral thinking, positive thinking, learning achievement

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the influence of the BrainGym on the improvement of the numerical skills of Year 3 students of elementary school. The research subjects consisted of 40 Year 3 students out of 43 students of SD Percobaan 2 Depok, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. Three students were not included in the study because they were absent when the posttest was administered. The instrument to collect the data on students numerical skills was an informal assessment instrument in the form of an inventory developed by the teacher. The inventory was a numerical skill test, consisting of 10 items and a checklist to obtain information on the use of the BrainGym. The data analysis showed that there was a significant difference in the means of the numerical skill test before and after the BrainGym treatment (ttest = - 2.772; p = 0.008). The mean after the treatment (Mposttest = 12.67) was higher than that before the treatment (Mpretest = 11.70). It was concluded that the BrainGym treatment was effective to improve the score of the numerical skills of Year 3 students of elementary school. The evaluation of the BrainGym movements showed that they were easy and fun. The students felt that they were more relaxed and comfortable, and did not have tensions and boredom so that they kept motivated. The classroom atmosphere was more lively and dynamic, and the students felt fresher and managed to think clearly. Keywords: BrainGym, numerical skills

Abstract

Abstrak: Model Diklat Kewirausahaan bagi Remaja Putus Sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan: (1) model diklat kewirausahaan bagi Remaja Putus Sekolah (RPS) di Propinsi DIY, (2) modul-modul diklat kewirausahaan berdasarkan hasil uji coba, dan (3) hasil pelaksanaan diklat kewirausahaan. Pendekatan kualitatif-interaktif dan penelitianpengembangan digunakan pada penelitian ini. RPS dipilih secara kuota dan purposif. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan pejabat pemerintah dan 30 RPS. Data dianalisis dengan teknik deskriptif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menemukan: (1) model pendidikan kewirausahaan meliputi sistem, struktur program diklat, komposisi antara teori dengan praktik, modul diklat, kriteria peserta, pelatih, metode, dan evaluasi diklat, (2) modul-modul ternyata layak digunakan untuk pendidikan kewirausahaan guna mengurangi kemiskinan dan pengangguran, dan (3) diklat kewirausaahaan terlaksana dengan sukses. Kata Kunci: model pendidikan, kewirausahaan, kemiskinan, pengangguran Abstract: A Model of the Entrepreneurship Training for Drop-out Teenagers. This study was aimed to reveal: (1) a model of an entrepreneurship training for drop-out teenagers in Yogyakarta province; (2) modules of the entrepreneurship training based on the results of the try-out; and (3) the results of the training implementation. The qualitative-interactive and research and development approach was used in this study. Thirty drop-out teenagers and government excutiveswere selected purposively for in-depth interviews. The data were analyzed using the descriptive and qualitative technique. The findings indicated that: (1) a model of an entrepreneurship training included the system, program structure, integration between theories and practices, modules, participant criteria, trainers, methods, and evaluation; (2) the modules were appropriate to be used in the training; and (3) the training was implemented successfully.
