Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan: peran, strategi, pencapaian tujuan, dan kendala yang dihadapi bursa kerja khusus yang dilakukan oleh sekolah dalam rangka penempatan lulusan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif, di mana data dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi dan dengan para pengelola program bursa kerja khusus. Keabsahan data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dan triangulasi. Analisis data menggunakan statistik deskriptif, kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Bursa Kerja Khusus di sekolah menengah kejuruan cukup berperan dalam usaha penempatan lulusan untuk bekerja, hal ini dilaksanakan melalui kegiatan penyuluhan bimbingan karir, magang di industri, seleksi dan penempatan lulusan di industri, (2) penempatan lulusan menggunakan strategi rekrutmen tertutup, yaitu melalui komunikasi langsung dengan perusahaan, baik dalam hal informasi lowongan, persyaratan, seleksi dan penempatan. (3) Bursa Kerja Khusus di SMK dapat mencapai tujuan dengan baik, yaitu dapat menempatkan lulusan untuk bekerja dengan persentase lebih dari 60%, 4) Kendala yang dihadapi Bursa Kerja Khusus berupa kendala manajerial seperti pendanaan, personel, komunikasi dan promosi. Kendala yang lain berupa kendala budaya dari lulusan yang tidak mau mencatatkan diri sebagai pencari kerja, tidak melaporkan diri setelah mendapatkan pekerjaan, lulusan segan untuk bekerja di luar daerah, lulusan masih pilih-pilih pekerjaan, lulusan belum mengenal secara mendalam perusahaan yang akan dilamar.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the influence of students’ interests in choosing the mechanical engineering vocational program. The research method used was descriptive quantitative. The population in this study were all Grade X students in Yogyakarta which total number were 180 respondents. The data collecting technique was using questionnaires which then was analyzed using descriptive analysis and regression. The results of this study were (1) Students’ interests in choosing mechanical engineering vocational program was high. (2) There was a positive and significant influence from students’ own understanding, family, school, and society towards students’ interests in choosing the mechanical engineering vocational program, (3) The four variables, together, have positive and significant influences towards vocational high school students’ interests in choosing the mechanical engineering vocational program in Yogyakarta..

Abstract

Abstract: Work Preparation and Coaching Intensity to Improve MechanicalEngineering Students Academic Achievement in the Machinery Practicum in theEngineering Faculty of the Yogyakarta State University. This study aims to revealthe effects of the work preparation and coaching system for mechanical engineeringstudents of the Engineering Faculty of the Yogyakarta State University on the 3rdMachinery Practicum. This study was a classroom action research study. Thepopulation comprised all the students and the sample consisted of 19 3rd semesterstudents. The data were collected through questionnaires, observations, anddocuments and analyzed by quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques.The results are as follows. 1) The work preparation and coaching system ran welland was conducted in 10 weeks (2 cycles). The work preparation was made by thestudents before the class started. They consulted the lecturer 10 minutes before. Thecoaching was effective if it was carried out every 30 minutes since that class started.2) The students passed this practicum if they obtained a score of 78.15 andsuccessfully finished 5 of 7 jobs. 3) The process ran well and the students showed agood attitude towards work and worked seriously.Keywords: work preparation, coaching intensity

Abstract

This study aims to know the quality of: (1) planning, (2) organizing, (3) actuating, and (4) controlling of mechanical engineering workshop management at SMK in Purworejo Regency. This study is a quantitative study with survey method. The respondents of this study were the practical lesson teachers of mechanical engineering SMK in Purworejo Regency. The data collection techniques were questionnaire, interview, and observation. The data analysis technique used was descriptive statistics. The results showed that: (1) the planning has a good quality with a mean of 2.961; (2) the organizing has a good quality with a mean of 2.947; (3) the actuating has a good quality with a mean of 3.207; and (4) the controlling has a good quality with a mean of 2.874.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research aim at revealing: (1) graduate absorption from bachelor of education Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University (YSU) in job market, (2) information of suitability of competence and job oppportunity, (3) feedback from graduates’ employer/ user, (4) opinion form the alumnae. This study can be catagorized as survey research which was conducted in September till November  2010. The research population was the graduates from the year of 2006 to 2012 and this study employed snowball technique as  data collection technique. The instrument of data collection were using open and closed questionnaire with online or offline process. The online procedure was through website of  http://ft.uny.ac.id/tracer, email of tracerftuny@gmail.com while the offline one was through sending letter. The qualitative data were analyzed by crosstab and percentage and the qualitative one was using categorial analysis.   The findings showed that (1) the graduates’absorption can be catagorized as good catagory, the waiting period for the graduates to get a job was less than 3 months with percentage of 52.8%, for period of 3-6 months was 23.1%, more than 12 months was 7.2% and not giving answer was 5.6%; (2) the students’ competence also catagorized as good catagory, but for supporting aspects such as managerial and leadership aspect still needed to be improved; (3) the feedback from graduates’ employers or users were in case of improving managerial ability, leadership aspect, foreign language competence, information technology skills, and soft skills (4) the suggestions from alumnae or the graduates of Faculty of Engineering YSU in order to develop graduates competence on education field were the separation between students community service and teaching practicum though it took in the same location of school,  enhancing the guidence process with the  lecturers such for scientific writing, enhancing the experience of teaching on the real context especially for the students with educational background, enhancing learning based multimedia, developing the curriculum which was suited with Vocational High School, and the teaching methodology also needed to be reviewed and improved.Keywords: bachelor of education, graduates absorption and graduates’tracer study

Abstract

Unemployment rates producing by vocational high school (VHS) is still high. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to develop an entrepreneurship learning model in accordance with students’ skills. This study aims to: (1) develop project-based entrepreneurship learning media integrated with productive practical learning in VHSs; (2) design project-based entrepreneurship learning integrated with productive practical learning which had the criteria of validation, effectiveness, and practicability. The research procedures consisted of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) model. The product of the learning model development was validated by experts. The subjects of the research involved eleventh grade students of automotive engineering study program in the second semester, entrepreneurship teachers and automotive engineering teachers in VHSs. The products of the study consisted of: (1) a guided learning book and learning media (lesson plans and learning assessments); (2) the teachers’ and students’ positive and objective responses toward the implementation of the learning model which was proved by their comments that the developed learning model fulfilled the criteria of validation, effectiveness, and practicability to be implemented in VHSs.

Abstract

This study was aimed to identify the profiles of teachers' expertise and professional development in Technology and Engineering Expertise Program (TEEP) of Vocational Secondary Schools (VSSs). This study was conducted with a survey approach. The population consisted of 1025 teachers of TEEP at VSSs in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The samples were 280 teachers selected with proportional random sampling. Data were collected by an open-ended questionnaire and analyzed with a descriptive method. Results of the study identified the profiles of expertise that included the majority of teacher’s employment status is government employees and scanty non-government employees. The range of working time is mostly from 7 and 18 years. Teachers mostly participate in the teachers’ certification through the professional teachers training program.  A few number of the teachers have the additional expertise certificates, and none of the teachers has the dual expertise certificates. Furthermore, types of the teachers’ professional development activities that followed by most of the teachers are seminars, journals, learning media, and participating as members of teachers association.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the development and the usability of a video-based learning media on the subject of lathe metric threading. The study was carried out in class XI of Machining program study. This research is a Research and Development using ADDIE (Analysis-Design-Development-Implement-Evaluation) learning design. Data collection techniques that was used were questionnaires and research documentation. The development process of video models is carried out by observation and validation from material experts, media experts and subject teachers. The development of the media resulted in the video-based learning media products in the form of an mp4 video formats. The evaluation of the video media resulted in an average usability of 78.85%, which lies in the "˜very good' category. In conclusion, the video-based learning media can be used in the teaching and learning process.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengembangan dan kelayakan media pembelajaran berbasis video pada proses pembuatan ulir metris dengan menggunakan mesin bubut pada kelas XI Teknik Pemesinan. Penelitian ini merupakan Research and Developtment menggunakan desain pembelajaran ADDIE (Analyze-Design-Development-Implement-Evaluate). Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian ini menggunakan angket serta dokumentasi penelitian Proses pengembangan model media video dilakukan dengan cara observasi dan melalui validasi dari ahli materi, ahli media dan guru mata pelajaran. Hasil pengembangan media diperoleh produk media pembelajaran berbasis video berbentuk mp4 pada materi pembuatan ulir metris dengan proses pembubutan. Hasil evaluasi produl media video diperoleh persentase kelayakan rata-rata sebesar 78.85% yang termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik. Dengan demikian media pembelajaran berbasis video pada pembelajaran praktik pemesinan bubut dinyatakan layak digunakan pada proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the geometric quality of lathe machining product and what causes the low geometric quality of the lathe machining practices. This research is a descriptive study using a quantitative approach. Data were obtained by documentation and direct observation of the studied object, and then were processed using descriptive statistical analysis. Results show that the average value of the geometric quality of lathe machining products was relatively low, amounted to 67.14. The aspects that caused deficiencies and low geometric quality are, among others, incorrect spindle speed, incorrect feeds, incorrect depth of cuts, improper use of measuring tools, and lack of awareness ofthe Occupational Safety and Health equipment.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas geometris produk hasil praktik pemesinan bubut dan penyebab rendahnya kualitas geometris hasil praktik pemesinan bubut. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan menggunakan dokumentasi dan pengamatan langsung pada obyek yang diteliti kemudian diolah menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata – rata nilai kualitas geometris hasil praktik pemesinan bubut siswa tergolong rendah yakni sebesar 67,14 serta aspek-aspek yang menjadi penyebab kekurangan dan kelemahan kualitas geometris diantaranya meliputi, kesalahan dalam menentukan putaran mesin, kesalahan dalam menentukan kecepatan gerak pemakanan, tidak tepatnya pengaturan kedalaman pemakanan, kesalahan dalam menggunakan alat ukur serta kurangnya kesadaran akan pentingnya penggunaan perlengkapan K3.
