Abstract

Background: The choice of birth attendant is a crucial factor in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates. In Indonesia, there are still mothers who choose traditional birth attendants (dukun/paraji), thereby increasing the risk of complications. Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and family support and the choice of birth attendant among postpartum mothers in Sirnaresmi Village, Sukabumi. Methods: A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. A sample of 150 postpartum mothers (≤12 months) was selected using proportional random sampling. The instrument consisted of a questionnaire. Data analysis used the Chi-Square test and Odds Ratio. Results: There was a significant association between knowledge and choice of birth attendant (p=0.001; OR=4.815), attitude (p=0.001; OR=4.876), and family support (p=0.002; OR=3.965). Mothers with good knowledge, positive attitudes, and good family support tended to choose professional health personnel. Conclusion: Knowledge, attitude, and family support are associated with the choice of health personnel as birth attendants.

Abstract

Background: Integrated health posts (Posyandu) are community-based health services that play an important role in monitoring child growth and development. The effectiveness of Posyandu largely depends on mothers’ adherence to regular visits. Maternal knowledge and attitudes are predisposing factors that may influence this health behavior. This study aimed to analyze the role of maternal knowledge and attitudes in adherence to Posyandu visits among mothers of under-five children in the working area of Jabung Primary Health Center. Methods: This analytical quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design and was conducted from April to May 2026 in the working area of Jabung Primary Health Center, Malang Regency, Indonesia. The study population consisted of 60 mothers with under-five children who were registered as active Posyandu participants. All eligible mothers were included using total sampling. Knowledge and attitudes were assessed using structured questionnaires, while adherence data were obtained from Posyandu attendance records. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of 0.05. Results: Most respondents had good knowledge (75.0%), positive attitudes (75.0%), and were adherent to Posyandu visits (86.7%). Maternal knowledge was significantly associated with adherence to Posyandu visits (p = 0.016). Maternal attitudes were also significantly associated with adherence to Posyandu visits (p = 0.014). Conclusion: Maternal knowledge and attitudes were significantly associated with adherence to Posyandu visits. Strengthening health education and promoting positive attitudes may improve mothers’ participation in community-based child health services. Keywords: adherence, attitudes, knowledge, mothers of under-five children, Posyandu.

Abstract

Background: Dysmenorrhea is a disturbance of discomfort or pain during menstruation that causes disruption of daily activities. Dysmenorrhea is caused by an increase in the hormone prostaglandins that cause contact of the uterine muscles. Warm compresses and lavender aromatherapy are non-pharmacological methods that are often used to reduce dysmenorrhea pain in adolescent girls. Research shows that both therapies can help relieve pain by improving blood circulation and providing a relaxing effect. Objective: To determine the reduction of dysmenorrhea pain with the administration of warm compresses and lavender aromatherapy. Research Methodology: This study was conducted with a Quassy Experiment with a One Group Pretest and Posttest design. The sample size in this study was 78 respondents who suffered from dysmenorrhea on the first day and the second day with the Purposive Sampling Method. Data analysis was carried out univariate and bivariate. Results: The pain level after treatment between the Warm Compress and Lavender Aromatherapy groups did not differ significantly Because p-value = 0.491, so H₀ was accepted. Conclusion: The level of pain after treatment between the Warm Compress and Lavender Aromatherapy groups was not different in the adolescent girls of SMK Kesehatan Letris Indonesia 2 Suggestion: It is expected to increase knowledge about reproductive health and its problems and be able to determine the correct and safe attitude to problems in adolescents. Keywords: Dysmenorrhea Level, Warm Compress, Lavender Aromatherapy.

Abstract

Adolescent reproductive health and child marriage remain global health problems influenced by limited access to health services, inadequate education, socio-cultural factors, and gender inequality. These conditions increase the risk of adolescent pregnancy, reproductive health disorders, and psychological problems. This literature review aimed to analyze the quality of adolescent-friendly reproductive health services and their role in preventing child marriage. The study used a systematic literature review method based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Literature searches were conducted through ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, PubMed, ResearchGate, and accredited national journals using keywords related to child marriage, adolescent reproductive health, and health service quality. Articles were selected using inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in 12 articles published between 2021–2026. The findings showed that the quality of reproductive health services is influenced by the quality of health workers, service systems, service accessibility, health education, family support, and socio-cultural and psychological factors. Programs such as PKPR, Generasi Berencana (GenRe), and reproductive health education were proven to improve adolescent knowledge and support child marriage prevention. The review concludes that strengthening the quality of adolescent reproductive health services is necessary as a preventive strategy to reduce child marriage rates. Abstract

Background: Lower abdominal pain during menstruation (dysmenorrhea) is commonly experienced by many adolescent girls, including female boarding school students. In East Java, the prevalence of primary dysmenorrhea is 71.3%. Complementary interventions to reduce menstrual pain include exercise and provision of carrot juice. This study aimed to determine the effect of dysmenorrhea exercise and carrot juice consumption on menstrual pain in adolescent females.. Methods: This study used a one-group pretest–posttest design. The population comprised all female students at Pondok Pesantren Annur Kalibaru Banyuwangi who experienced dysmenorrhea (43 individuals); a sample of 30 was selected by simple random sampling. Research instruments were a standard operating procedure (SOP) and an observation sheet using the Numerical Rating Scale. Statistical analysis was performed using the paired t-test. Results: Before the intervention, menstrual pain scores were moderate: scores 4 and 5 were each reported by 9 participants (30%). After the intervention, 19 participants (63.3%) reported mild pain. The paired t-test yielded a significance value of p = 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating that dysmenorrhea exercise combined with carrot juice significantly reduced menstrual pain. Conclusion: Support from educational and medical staff at the boarding school health post (Poskestren) should be optimized to identify dysmenorrhea early among adolescent female students. It is recommended to form adolescent groups to perform dysmenorrhea exercise three times per week for one week combined with consuming carrot juice twice daily. Keywords: dysmenorrhea exercise, carrot juice, menstrual pain, female boarding school students

Abstract

Abstract Background: Preeclampsia is one of the pregnancy complications that contributes to maternal morbidity and mortality. Excessive gestational weight gain (EGWG) during pregnancy is suspected to play a role as a risk factor for the occurrence of preeclampsia. This study aims to analyze the relationship between third trimester EGWG and the incidence of preeclampsia in pregnant women. Methods: A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted on 40 pregnant women selected using a total sampling technique. Data were obtained from medical records and Maternal and Child Health (MCH) books, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of 5%. Results: A total of 18 respondents (45.0%) experienced third trimester EGWG and 19 respondents (47.5%) experienced preeclampsia. Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between third trimester EGWG and the occurrence of preeclampsia (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Excessive gestational weight gain in the third trimester is significantly associated with the occurrence of preeclampsia in pregnant women. Monitoring weight gain during pregnancy needs to be optimized as part of the early detection and prevention of preeclampsia in antenatal care. Integrated monitoring of weight gain in antenatal care services and strengthening education related to diet and healthy lifestyle need to be optimized to support the prevention of preeclampsia and improve maternal health. Keywords: Excessive gestational weight gain, pregnant mother, preeclampsia, third trimester.
