Abstract

Childbirth is often accompanied by perineal tears, also known as perineal rupture, which can cause significant bleeding. Perineal tears occur due to rupture of the tissues in the birth canal during the delivery process. This condition can lead to postpartum complications and negatively affect the mother’s recovery. One preventive measure is to strengthen and maintain the elasticity of the perineum through pregnancy exercises. Pregnancy exercises can improve blood circulation, enhance muscle flexibility, and prepare the body for the birthing process, thereby reducing the risk of perineal rupture. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of optimizing pregnancy exercise education for pregnant women in improving their knowledge regarding perineal rupture incidents during health crisis situations at the Antang Perumnas Community Health Center in 2024. The research employed an observational analytic method with a quantitative approach, using a cross-sectional design to assess the relationship between the provision of pregnancy exercise education and the knowledge level of pregnant women. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to participants, followed by statistical analysis. The results showed that pregnancy exercise education had a significant effect on pregnant women’s knowledge of perineal rupture during health crisis situations. Statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05, indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. This finding suggests that education on pregnancy exercises can substantially improve awareness and understanding of perineal rupture prevention. In conclusion, pregnancy exercise education is an effective intervention to increase pregnant women’s knowledge and awareness about preventing perineal rupture, especially in health crisis conditions. Implementing regular education sessions in community health centers may contribute to reducing the prevalence of perineal tears and improving maternal health outcomes.

Abstract

Breast cancer remains a major contributor to female mortality in Indonesia. One effective method to enhance survival rates and avoid delayed diagnosis is early detection through breast self-examination (BSE). Despite this, the level of awareness and understanding of BSE among adolescent girls is still insufficient. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of an educational intervention on improving the knowledge and practical skills of female adolescents in conducting BSE as a preventive approach to avoid potential health crises. A pre-experimental research design was used, employing a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. The participants consisted of 50 eleventh-grade female students from SMK Negeri 4 Makassar, selected through purposive sampling techniques. The educational program was delivered through lectures, interactive discussions, and practical demonstrations. Data collection instruments included a structured knowledge questionnaire and a checklist to assess BSE practice. Results revealed a notable increase in the average knowledge score, rising from 5.86 before the intervention to 8.78 afterward. Similarly, the average score for BSE practice improved from 3.74 to 7.62. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test produced a p-value of 0.000, signifying that the educational intervention had a significant positive effect on students’ ability to recognize early signs of breast cancer. The findings suggest that targeted health education can significantly enhance both awareness and self-examination skills among adolescent girls. Therefore, integrating BSE education into school health programs is strongly recommended to foster preventive behaviors and empower young women to monitor their own breast health proactively. It is recommended that BSE education be included as a regular program in schools as part of preventive health promotion.

Abstract

Stress is a psychological condition that occurs when individuals perceive the demands they face as exceeding their ability to manage or adapt. Final-year students, particularly in health-related fields, are highly vulnerable to stress due to multiple academic responsibilities, including completing coursework, meeting grade targets, writing scientific papers, and preparing for competency examinations. These combined pressures can affect mental health, academic performance, and professional readiness. This study analyzed the relationship between coping mechanisms and stress levels among final-semester students of the Diploma III Nursing Program at the Pelamonia Health Science Institute Makassar in 2024. The research was conducted from August 12 to 24, 2024, involving 31 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through standardized questionnaires distributed online via Google Forms. The variables measured included coping mechanisms (adaptive and maladaptive) and stress levels (mild and severe). Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square statistical test. The results showed that the majority of respondents (83.9%) experienced mild stress, while 16.1% experienced severe stress. Regarding coping strategies, 83.9% of respondents used adaptive coping mechanisms, whereas 16.1% used maladaptive coping mechanisms. The Chi-Square test yielded a p-value of 0.004 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between coping mechanisms and stress levels. These findings suggest that students who employ adaptive coping strategies tend to experience lower stress levels when facing competency examinations. The results highlight the importance of integrating stress management training and promoting adaptive coping strategies within nursing education programs. Such efforts can help strengthen students’ mental resilience, improve academic performance, and better prepare them for professional practice in the healthcare field.

Abstract

Breast care is a critical aspect of ensuring optimal breastmilk production during both the prenatal and postnatal periods. Adequate knowledge and proper practices related to breast care play a vital role in supporting successful breastfeeding, which directly contributes to infant nutrition and maternal health. This study aimed to determine the association between postpartum mothers' understanding of breast care and the effectiveness of breastmilk production at Labuang Baji Regional Hospital in Makassar in 2021. An analytical observational method with a cross-sectional design was utilized. The sample consisted of 32 postpartum mothers, selected through total sampling. Data collection involved assessing mothers’ knowledge levels and evaluating the smoothness of their breastfeeding experience. The analysis was conducted using the Chi-square statistical test. Findings revealed that among the 32 participants, 15 mothers (46.9%) who had a good understanding of breast care experienced smooth milk flow, whereas 3 mothers (9.4%) with good knowledge still reported non-smooth lactation. Conversely, 5 respondents (15.6%) with poor knowledge still managed smooth breastfeeding, and 14 mothers (43.8%) with poor knowledge faced challenges with milk production. The Chi-square test indicated a statistically significant association between knowledge of breast care and breastmilk flow (p = 0.006), suggesting that knowledge levels strongly influence breastfeeding outcomes. These results highlight the importance of targeted education for postpartum mothers on proper breast care techniques. It is recommended that healthcare providers increase efforts in promoting breast care awareness as part of postnatal care services to support improved breastfeeding practices and enhance maternal and infant health outcomes overall.

Abstract

This study examines the architecture of food security as a pillar of sustainable development from the perspective of Maqashid Syariah, using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The issue of food security is crucial, considering its broad impact on social, economic, and political aspects, as seen from the significant surge in Indonesian rice imports in 2023 and 2024. Although Indonesia has great agricultural potential, challenges such as limited production capacity, inadequate distribution infrastructure, and undiversified consumption patterns remain obstacles. This study integrates the concepts of food security, sustainable development (SDGs), and Maqashid Syariah, which seeks to safeguard the five basic human needs: religion ( hifzh al-din ), life ( hifzh al-nafs ), reason ( hifzh al-aql ), offspring ( hifzh al-nasl ), and wealth ( hifzh al-mal ). By analyzing 16 relevant articles from databases such as Google Scholar and Scopus, this study synthesizes a conceptual framework that positions food security as a manifestation of hifzh al-nafs and hifzh al-mal , and sustainable development as a manifestation of universal maslahah . It is found that Maqasid Syariah provides not only ethical justification, but also an operational framework for building a resilient food security system and achieving holistic sustainable development, supported by government policies, the use of data technology, community participation, and Islamic financial instruments. This alignment confirms that food security and sustainable development are moral and spiritual imperatives in Islam, aimed at creating true welfare ( hayatan tayyibah ) for all people.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of the Human Development Index (HDI), economic growth, and minimum wage on poverty levels in ASEAN-4 countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines) from 2016 to 2024, with zakat as a moderating factor. The main objective is to analyze how zakat mitigates the effects of HDI, economic growth, and minimum wage on poverty. Using a quantitative approach, the research applies path analysis and moderation regression to evaluate these relationships. The findings reveal that zakat effectively moderates the relationship between economic growth and poverty, as well as between HDI and poverty, indicating that zakat plays a substantial role in reducing poverty through improvements in human development and economic advancement. However, the results also show that zakat does not moderate the effect of the minimum wage on poverty levels. This suggests that while zakat is an essential tool for alleviating poverty, it cannot replace the need for sound labor market policies, job creation, and fair wage distribution. These insights highlight the potential of integrating zakat into broader poverty reduction strategies, especially those targeting human development and economic growth. Policymakers in ASEAN countries could leverage zakat as part of comprehensive socio-economic programs to enhance the effectiveness of poverty alleviation efforts. The absence of moderation in the minimum wage context underscores the importance of considering multiple dimensions of poverty, where wage policies, employment opportunities, and social welfare programs must complement zakat to produce sustainable results. Overall, this study contributes to the discourse on the intersection between Islamic economic instruments and development policies, offering empirical evidence of zakat’s role as a moderating variable in poverty reduction strategies.

Abstract

Rice stored in households often does not meet good agricultural product storage standards. Problems arise when products are stored in unsuitable containers, making them more susceptible to insect infestation. Pest insects that cause damage to the quality and quantity of rice can easily reduce rice quality. The use of synthetic chemical insecticides is inappropriate for post-harvest products, as these products are consumed shortly after storage. One environmentally friendly and non-toxic option for consumers is the use of plant-based materials known as biopesticides derived from plant sources. The objective of this study was to determine the mortality rate of rice weevils treated with several formulations of vetiver root (Vetiver zizanioides), both individually and in combination. The study was conducted at the Integrated Laboratory of Polytechnic of Banjarnegara. A total of 20 adult rice weevils from breeding were infested in jars containing 100 g of rice. The study used a completely randomized design with 7 treatments: A0: control; A1: 15 g of vetiver root powder; A2: 0,05 mL of vetiver root oil; A3: 15 g of vetiver root extract; A4: fragrant root powder 7,5 g and fragrant root extract 7,5 g; A5: fragrant root powder 7,5 g and fragrant root extract 7,5 g; A6: fragrant root powder 7,5 g and fragrant root oil 0,05 mL. Each treatment used 4 replicates, resulting in 28 experimental units. The parameters observed were the percentage of rice powder, percentage of weight loss, percentage of rice with holes, and percentage of rice weevil mortality. Observations were conducted at one-week intervals. The data obtained for each parameter were analyzed using an F-test, and if significant differences were found, a Duncan test was conducted at the 5% level. Observations of rice weevil mortality were conducted at 1 week after treatment (1 wat) and 2 wat.

Abstract

This study investigates how high school students in Dompu Regency perceive the integration of environmental issues into English language education. Using a survey method, data were gathered through an online questionnaire distributed to 45 students from various senior high schools in Dompu between June 15 and July 3, 2025. The research focused on three key aspects: students’ motivation to learn English in real-life contexts, their interest in environmental concerns such as pollution and climate change, and their curiosity about how English lessons can help them understand ways to protect the environment. The findings reveal strong student support for incorporating ecological themes into English learning. Approximately 64.5% of participants expressed a desire to learn English in ways connected to real-life situations. Additionally, 82.2% showed significant interest in exploring environmental issues, while 68.8% indicated they wanted to learn how to care for the environment through English-based activities. These results suggest that students do not view English merely as a subject centered on grammar or academic skills, but rather as a medium for engaging with meaningful and globally relevant issues. In response to these findings, the study recommends that English educators incorporate environmentally themed content into their teaching. Pedagogical strategies such as Eco-ELT (Ecological English Language Teaching) and action-based learning are encouraged, as they can foster both language proficiency and environmental literacy. Through these approaches, teachers can create more meaningful, context-rich learning environments that not only improve students’ English skills but also raise their awareness of sustainability and global responsibility. By blending language instruction with ecological awareness, students are empowered to become more thoughtful, informed, and active participants in addressing the environmental challenges of today’s world.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology in the age of disruption has significantly transformed patterns of religious communication, particularly in the context of Islamic da’wah. This study adopts a thematic approach to explore Qur’anic-based strategies that are adaptable to digital platforms. It integrates the Islamic epistemological frameworks of bayani (textual reasoning), burhani (rational reasoning), and irfani (intuitive-spiritual reasoning) to identify core da’wah principles: wisdom (hikmah), sincere exhortation (maw‘idzah), and respectful dialogue (mujādalah). These principles are analyzed in relation to their practical application through various forms of digital media, including social networking platforms, podcasts, and interactive video content. Relevant Qur’anic verses are examined to highlight values such as communicative ethics, emotional intelligence, and contextual sensitivity, which serve as guidelines for formulating adaptive da’wah strategies in the digital sphere. The findings suggest that effective digital da’wah requires not only technical fluency and mastery of communication tools, but also spiritual authenticity and epistemological depth. Balancing the timeless revelatory essence of the Qur’an with the adaptability required by modern media can foster communication that is inclusive, contextually relevant, and transformative. Furthermore, the research emphasizes that contemporary da’wah should avoid superficial engagement by grounding messages in a holistic understanding of Qur’anic guidance while utilizing creative and interactive formats. This synthesis of tradition and innovation ensures that the delivery of Islamic messages remains impactful, ethically grounded, and responsive to the needs of diverse audiences. In conclusion, digital da’wah is most effective when it harmonizes the enduring wisdom of revelation with the dynamic opportunities of technological communication, thus enabling a message that resonates across both spiritual and digital landscapes.
