Abstract

This study aims to examine the strategies implemented by the Muhammadiyah Association of Palembang City to enhance the welfare benefits of waqf. This is a field study employing a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings indicate that the waqf assets managed by Muhammadiyah in Palembang City primarily consist of land and buildings, which are generally utilized for educational, religious, health, and social facilities. Additionally, there is significant potential for cash waqf, estimated to reach approximately IDR 1.6 billion per year. To ensure that waqf management by Muhammadiyah Palembang City contributes effectively to public welfare, as stipulated in Law No. 42 of 2004 concerning waqf, several strategic shifts are necessary. First, a paradigm shift is required from a traditional to a contemporary waqf management model. Second, the professionalism of the nazir (waqf managers) must be enhanced. Third, innovative approaches to productive waqf programs should be pursued, including the management of neglected waqf assets, the development of existing assets, and the establishment of new waqf initiatives. Fourth, the management of cash waqf must be optimized. Fifth, waqf administration needs to be systematically structured.

Abstract

The high conversion of paddy fields in Central Java as Indonesia's most extensive rice production center is a crucial issue affecting future food security. This paper aims to design a waqf model for paddy fields integrated with the Rice Market Center (RMC) to maintain the integrity and sustainability of agricultural land and increase farmers' welfare. This study utilizes a qualitative method with a library research approach by adopting qualitative content analysis, which is strengthened by collecting primary data through in-depth interviews with experts of regulators, practitioners, and academics in the field of waqf and agriculture. The results indicate that the model of waqf management of paddy fields can be implemented through collaboration between nazhir and anchor companies (AC) in the form of regionally owned enterprises or agricultural SMEs. AC will act as an off-taker from the farmers' cooperative, then sell their processed products to RMC distribution channels such as state civil apparatus, modern markets, or Islamic boarding schools. This integration model is expected to be an alternative in increasing the welfare of farmers as well as food security in Central Java province.

Abstract

The importance of the Quranic principle in the Qur>an is actually nothing but a departure from social reality, that diversity and diversity are social facts. Nevertheless, for some people it still assumes that diversity is a threat, but for some others diversity undermines the monism that is inherent in tribal, national and religious clothes. Abstract

Giving or helping others can bring happiness and satisfaction to the giver. Participation in pro-social activities, such as donating to those in need, can increase happiness and satisfaction. This research explores the relationship between pro-social activities and subjective happiness in Indonesia, using data from the Indonesian Family Life Survey batch 5. By estimating a logistic model and calculating marginal effects, we assess this relationship. The results show a positive correlation between the amount of donation given and individual happiness levels. Additionally, income per capita and marital status have a positive association with happiness. Specifically, married individuals report higher levels of happiness than unmarried or divorced individuals. These findings have important implications for policymakers, particularly those involved in pro-social initiatives, such as the Ministry of Religion, BAZNAS, and the Indonesian Waqf Board. They suggest that promoting pro-social activities and policies supporting family formation and economic stability can increase happiness levels in Indonesian society. The Amil Zakat Institute, a stakeholder institution in Ziswaf funds management, can utilize this research to enhance the well-being of recipients and improve their standard of living. Furthermore, employing pro-social modeling through two-stage regression reveals that subjective well-being, measured by the monetary-based natural logarithm of consumer expenditure, can serve as a proxy for happiness associated with individual characteristics. These findings highlight that individual characteristics, specifically marital status, impact happiness levels. Further research could focus on examining specific types of donations to gain a deeper understanding of their respective effects on happiness.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the quality management models used by National Zakat Board (BAZNAS) and the Institute for Amil Zakat (LAZ) in Indonesia. This study uses qualitative descriptive method with literature review as the main study material. The results of the study show that there are several models and forms of quality management selected by zakat management organizations in Indonesia. Most choose ISO as a reference in testing the performance quality of their institutions. This choice is taken because it tends to be more familiar among the people and has been used in companies in Indonesia even in the world. Zakat Forum introduces other quality management models besides ISO, namely Zakah Criteria for Performance Exellence. This model is considered more suitable with the characteristics of zakat, because it can identify the strengths and weakness as a whole with reference to the seven criteria. The basic value and framework of this quality management model is based on the Qur'an and hadith so that it is more Islamic.
