Abstract

The management of educational funds in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) faces increasing demands for transparency, accountability, and sustainability in educational operations. However, many pesantren still rely on informal financial management practices that limit effective governance. This study aims to examine the implementation of good financial governance principles in managing educational funds in Islamic boarding schools in Palangka Raya and to analyze their implications for educational quality. The research employed a qualitative case study design involving several pesantren in Palangka Raya. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, and analyzed using thematic qualitative analysis. The findings reveal that fund management in many pesantren is still dominated by traditional and trust-based practices, characterized by the absence of formal financial planning documents, limited transparency mechanisms, weak administrative accountability, and inadequate financial management capacity among administrators. Pesantren that adopt more structured financial governance practices demonstrate better allocation of resources, improved educational facilities, and more sustainable learning programs. This study contributes to the literature on Islamic education management by providing empirical evidence on how good financial governance can strengthen institutional accountability and support the improvement of educational quality in pesantren.

Abstract

A sustainable and diversified revenue structure is essential for higher education institutions to maintain financial stability amid changing funding environments. However, many universities, including the Australian National University (ANU), still face challenges related to dependence on government funding. This study aims to analyze the revenue structure of ANU during the 2022–2023 fiscal years and examine its shift toward financial diversification. This research employs a descriptive quantitative design using common size analysis to evaluate the proportion of each revenue component based on ANU’s official financial reports. The data were analyzed to identify changes in revenue composition and trends across the two fiscal years. The findings indicate that although government funding remains the dominant source of revenue, its proportional contribution has declined, while non-government income particularly from other income sources has increased significantly. This shift reflects a gradual movement toward a more diversified revenue structure. The study contributes to the literature on higher education financial management by providing empirical evidence of revenue diversification in a world-class university context and offers practical insights for developing sustainable and balanced funding strategies

Abstract

Inclusive education has been formally mandated in Indonesia; however, its implementation at the school level remains inconsistent, particularly in managing students with special needs. This study aims to analyze school management practices in implementing inclusive education in two primary schools in Bukittinggi City. A qualitative case study design was employed, involving principals and teachers from SDIT Al-Azhar Darul Jannah and SD Negeri 04 Birugo as key informants. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, and analyzed using thematic analysis with source triangulation to ensure validity. The findings reveal that both schools implement inclusive education through five key management dimensions: student identification and assessment, educator adaptation, curriculum modification using Individualized Learning Programs and Universal Design for Learning, flexible evaluation systems, and partial adjustment of infrastructure. Despite these efforts, major constraints include limited specialized human resources, inadequate facilities, and low parental involvement. This study contributes to the literature by demonstrating how adaptive school management strategies can sustain inclusive practices in resource-constrained settings, highlighting the importance of collaborative governance and capacity building for improving inclusive education outcomes.
