Abstract

The fluctuation of rice production in Indonesia over the last 5 years shows a downward trend due to a decrease in land area and increase risks. A government's effort to overcome the risks of rice farming is to establish rice farming insurance (AUTP). This research aims to analyze the factors that influence farmers' decisions to join rice farming insurance (AUTP) and how the impact of rice farming insurance on farming income in Indonesia. The data used was secondary data from the survey results from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) in 2018. The number of samples was 470 farmers, consisting of 122 farmers who joined rice farming insurance and 358 farmers who did not take rice farming insurance. Data were analyzed using logistic regression and propensity score matching (PSM) methods. The results show that the variables of education level, participation in socialization, perceptions of decreased production, and production significantly influenced farmers' decisions to join rice farming insurance. The impact of insurance on farm income shows that the average farm income of farmers who follow rice farming insurance is higher than farmers who did not join rice farming insurance. Therefore, the government continued to encourage the implementation of the rice farming insurance program to increase the level of farmer participation and sustainability of the AUTP program. Abstract

Background: Highlight the importance of emphasizing the necessity of utilizing environmentally benign packaging materials, particularly given the mounting environmental concerns primarily attributed to the alarming rate of plastic waste production. Purpose: The study aims to analyze the factors that influence Generation Z consumers’ intention to purchase products with eco-friendly packaging and identify strategies that can be employed to enhance this intention. Design/methodology/approach: A path analysis was performed using Partial Least Square with Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM).Findings/Result: The research findings indicate that environmental concerns, support for the policy, perceived behavioral control, attitude, and subjective norm positively and significantly influence the increased intention to purchase Generation Z products with eco-friendly packaging. Environmental concern and perceived behavioral control are pivotal in fostering increased purchase intention for these products. Environmental concerns strongly influence intentions to purchase eco-friendly packaged products, leading Generation Z to demand more. This phenomenon reflects consumer trends; stakeholders need involvement to encourage sustainable actions and achieve environmental sustainability, especially among young people. Conclusion: It could be concluded that environmental concern plays a pivotal role in Generation Z's intention to purchase products with eco-friendly packaging. This concern influences various aspects of the Theory of Planned Behavior, guiding consumers toward more sustainable choices. The findings indicate that a higher level of environmental concern is associated with a greater intention to select eco-friendly packaging. Therefore, stakeholders must enhance environmental awareness among Generation Z, as they will play a pivotal role in the future of environmental sustainability development. Integrating eco-friendly practices into campus environments and business strategies will help meet this demand and support the shift toward more sustainable consumer behavior.Originality/value (State of the art): This study uses an extended variant of the TPB with a research focus different from previous studies. Previous empirical studies such as Paul et al. (2016), Chaudhary & Bisai (2018), and Asih et al. (2020) focused on green products. In contrast, this study focuses on products with eco-friendly packaging. Paul et al. (2016) integrated the TPB model with environmental concern to examine its influence on purchase intention of green products in India, while Chaudhary & Bisai (2018) combined the TPB model with environmental concern to examine its influence on purchase intention and willingness to pay premium, and tested the moderation effect between purchase intention and green purchasing behavior in India. Asih et al. (2020) integrated the TPB model with environmental concern and environmental knowledge to examine interest in using green products. However, this study integrates environmental concern and policy to support the TPB model, examine the factors influencing Generation Z’s purchase intention toward products with eco-friendly packaging, and identify strategies to increase Generation Z’s intention to purchase. Keywords: environmental concern, green products, purchase intention, PLS-SEM, theory of planned behavior

Abstract

Milk is an essential commodity because the Government of Indonesia aimed to increase domestic milk production up to 50% by 2020. At the present, domestic milk production in Indonesia is only able to fulfill 20% of national milk demand. East Java and West Java Provinces are the main producers of milk in Indonesia. The objective of this study was to compare dairy farming management and business model between East Java and West Java, Indonesia. This study employed descriptive statistical and quantitative analyses. The dairy farming management questionnaire survey was conducted in May-July 2016 and the dairy business model survey was conducted in October-November 2018. There were no significant differences in dairy farming activities between farmers in Lembang and Malang whereas the average number of lactating cows is 5 and 3 heads, respectively. Farmers received farm gate price of Rp4,622 per liter in Lembang and Rp4,535 per liter in Malang. Based on net return over cash variable cost, farmers in Malang and Lembang earned around 20 percent from the milk price. There were six inclusive business models (IBMs) identified between smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and private companies with different characteristics have been implemented in East Java and West Java. It is suggested that cooperative improves its role in the integrated agribusiness system in order to improve the bargaining position of dairy farmers as well as in terms of cost-efficiency. The strategies and policies should be implemented to support development of sustainable, profitable and smallholder-inclusive dairy supply chains in East Java and West Java. Keywords: inclusive business model, integrated agribusiness system, dairy farming, milk production, net return

Abstract

Indonesian rubber plantations are experiencing a fluctuating productivity trend due to difficult capital access, which is one of the problems faced by farmers. Agricultural credit serves as an alternative solution to this issue. Financial credit serves as a solution to address the capital issues faced by farmers, as the additional capital from credit can be used to enhance input utilization, thereby optimizing production. This research aims to analyze the impact of credit use on rubber farming in South Sumatra Province. This research uses secondary data, specifically the 2014 Agricultural Household Survey data from the Central Statistics Agency. The respondent farmers totaled 4,924 rubber farmers in South Sumatra, consisting of 98 farmers who took credit and 4,826 farmers who did not take credit. South Sumatra was chosen as the research location because it is the province with the largest natural rubber production in Indonesia. The methods used were the descriptive method and propensity score matching (PSM) to assess the impact of credit on rubber farming income. The results showed that the largest expense for rubber farming in South Sumatra was the labor cost component within the family, indicating that rubber farming in South Sumatra remains labor-intensive. The allocation of credit funds that has not yet been accurately targeted in agriculture as a whole is a factor contributing to the insignificance of credit in increasing farmers income. Therefore, there is a need for extension services related to financial literacy so that credit funds can be optimized in agricultural practices.

Abstract

This phenomenological study explores madrasah teachers' experiences implementing the SMART Model (Support, Motivation, Assessment, Reward, and Training) in teacher management at MTs Terpadu Berkah, Palangka Raya. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 15 purposively selected participant, including the principal, vice-principals, and selected teachers, observations (20 hours), and document analysis. The findings reveal that the SMART Model enhances teacher professionalism through systematic support mechanisms, targeted motivation strategies, comprehensive performance assessments, structured reward systems, and sustainable professional development opportunities. However, challenges such as resource constraints, inconsistent implementation, and communication barriers limit its effectiveness. The study contributes to educational management literature by proposing a context-specific framework for teacher management in Islamic educational institutions and recommends optimizing performance-based evaluations and reward systems to improve educational quality in madrasahs. This research underscores the significance of integrating SMART Model components to foster a more supportive and motivating environment for teachers in Islamic educational settings.

Abstract

Rice is a staple food for many people worldwide, especially in Asia, including Indonesians, with conventional white rice being the most commonly consumed type. However, conventional white rice has nutritional limitations and a high glycemic index, which can negatively impact health. This study explores consumer preferences and Willingness to Pay (WTP) for porang-based analogue rice as a healthier alternative. Using the Discrete Choice Experiment (DCE) method, data were collected from 150 respondents in Bogor, Indonesia, through voluntary response sampling. The results show that attributes such as porang rice type, softness, clear white colour, packaging, well-known brand, ease of preparation, longer shelf life, and health claims significantly influence consumer preferences. Consumers are willing to pay a higher price: IDR 46,040/kg for porang rice, IDR 58,600/kg for soft rice, IDR 43,338/kg for rice with a clear white colour, IDR 61,860/kg for packaged rice, IDR 61,389/kg for rice with a well-known brand, IDR 40,028/kg for rice that is easy to prepare, IDR 41,200/kg for rice with a longer shelf life, and IDR 90,401/kg for rice with health claims. These findings highlight the growing demand for healthier food options and provide valuable insights for producers and marketers to develop effective strategies. Emphasizing product quality and health benefits is crucial to increasing market acceptance of porang-based analogue rice.

Abstract

Intelligent Transport System (ITS) is an intelligent traffic system used for traffic management and engineering. The ITS network uses inter-vehicle telecommunication technology. The city of Semarang is one of the cities that will establish ITS technology. One area that applies technology is health. The telecommunications system applied in the health sector today allows medical staff to treat patients in ambulances before arriving at the hospital. This communication system needs to be supported by a good cellular network so that data can be sent to the server. This study aims to measure QOS (Quality of Service) including the characteristics of delay, packet loss, jitter, and throughput from various cellular providers. The results of data measurements using wireshark software with TIPHON standard guidelines obtained an average value for delay obtained by Provider A with the best result of 86.22 ms. The average value for packet loss obtained from the measurement results from the Penggaron Terminal to the City Hall Bus Stop was obtained by Provider A with the best result of 0.474% d for the City Hall Bus Stop to the Penggaron Terminal obtained by Provider B with the best result of 0.574%. The average value of jitter obtained from the measurement results from the Penggaron Terminal to the City Hall Bus Stop was obtained by Provider B with the best result of 0.42 ms, for the City Hall Bus Stop to the Penggaron Terminal, Provider A was obtained with the best result of 0.57 ms. The average throughput value obtained from the measurement results for Penggaron Terminal to City Hall Bus Stop was obtained by Provider C with the best result of 6631 Kbps, for City Hall Bus Stop to Penggaron Terminal obtained by Provider B with the best result of 6339.5 Kbps. Based on this, knowing the value of delay, packet loss, jitter and throughput is expected to be a consideration for the development of a smart ambulance system in the city of Semarang. There are two measurement points, namely the Penggaron Terminal to the City Hall Bus Stop and the City Hall Bus Stop to the Penggaron Terminal using the Semarang BRT.
