Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara multietnik, ras, agama, suku dan seterusnya. Keberagaman ini dapat memicu ketidakharmonisan dalam kehidupan berbangsa dan bernegara, bahkan bisa mengakhiri sejarah suatu bangsa. Hal ini bisa dilihat dari konflik-konflik yang terjadi di berbagai belahan dunia. Untuk mengatasi dampak negatif tersebut, dibutuhkan kajian-kajian bangunan toleransi lokalitas yang tumbuh dan hidup dalam masyarakat. Tradisi-tradisi lokalitas itu menjadi satu khazanah dalam membangun keharmonisan dalam masyarakat yang multietnis, agama, ras tersebut. Konstruksi-konstruksi keharmonisan ini bisa dilihat dari praktik toleransi lokalitas etnik Melayu dan Cina di Kota Tanjungpinang. Keharmonisan itu dibangun oleh negosiasi-negosiasi kultural yang sudah ditradisikan secara langsung atau tidak langsung. Tradisi-tradisi kultural lokalitas itu patut dijaga dan dikembangkan secara terus-menerus sehingga negara yang dihuni oleh keberagaman ini bisa menemukan model toleransi sesuai dengan lokalitas-lokalitasnya sendiri karena dalam lokalitas yang dimiliki itu ada kearifan yang bisa menyatukan dan berguna bagi masyarakat untuk membangun kehidupan yang harmonis.Indonesia is a multiethnic country, race, religion, tribe, etc. This diversity can trigger disharmony in the life of nation and state, and even terminate the history of a nation. It can be seen from the conflicts occur in the world. In order to overcome the negative impact, it takes a study of locality tolerances which arise and live in society. The locality traditions become a treasure in establishing harmony in a multiethnic, religious, racial society. These charismatic constructions can be seen from the practical tolerance of Malay and Chinese ethnicity in Tanjungpinang; the harmony is built by cultural negotiations that have been applied directly or indirectly. The locality of cultural traditions should be maintained and developed continuously so that the country in habited by this diversity can find a model of tolerance in accordance with its own locality, because in the locality possessed by, there is wisdom that can unite and useful for the community to build a harmony of life.

Abstract

Subarang Ayie marriage, marriages that are performed through marriage services that are not regulated by the state, or not through procedures that have been established by applicable laws and regulations, so that this marriage does not have official documents, as regulated  by the state.  Ayie's Subarang marriage still occurs due to practices carried out by actors who need and need each other, making it difficult to be eliminated.  Marriage under the hand is still a rational and normative choice, especially among those who have problems in marriage.  Therefore, Subarang Ayie's marriage still survives.

Abstract

Perempuan dalam menjaga kelangsungan rumah tangganya, telah melakukan berbagai strategis dan kebijakan-kebijakan terutama terlihat dari perempuan yang berkerja di sektor publik, seperti perempuan yang terlibat dalam pertanian.Perempuan harus melakukan negosiasi-negosiasi dengan waktu dan pekerjaan sehingga peran dan fungsinya dalam keluarga bisa berjalan dalam keseimbangan.Negosiasi-negosiasi dengan waktu itu sangat menentukan terhadap survivenya rumah tangga dalam menghadapi berbagai tantangan dan kompetisi matrialisme.Perempuan yang terlibat dalam pertanian, telah melakukan negosiasi waktu dalam bentuk random, sesuai dengan kebutuhan keluarga dan berencana.Negosiasi itu, pada kenyataannya telah memberikan kontribusi terhadap kelangsungan sebuah keluarga yang harmonis di kalangan perempuan petani.

Abstract

Ruhana Kudus is one of the developer of women’s economic movement in Minangkabau in colonial era. One of the movement is establish an economic organization which can motivate the women to have entrepreneur spirit. The economic organization that established by Ruhana Kuddus is Amai Setia handicraft. In this organization, the women get guidance to make many handicrafts that earn and run the economy, then those handicrafts will be sold in the market. The profit of the handcraft selling will be used as women prosperity strengthening and also as one of the helper in running life at economic section. The  Economic activities that established by Ruhana Kuddus is in handcraft skill, so it mastered by the women, then it becomes one of house hold trading that still exist till now.

Abstract

Rohana Kudus is a woman combatant from Minangkabau. She never went to school and only learning by self-educatedly. Even though, her struggle in education have started since childhood. She struggled for the woman education until she died. She struggeled not only through the education instituation but also through the newspaper. The act of Rohana in woman education can be seen trought the founding of Kerajinan Amai Setiia School in Koto Gadang Bukittinggi. In journalist, Rohana is noted as the first journalist woman in Indonesia and founded the newspaper for woman in her home town. She ever invited by the Dutch governance to came to Amstardam, but it was rejected, because she was not able to fight against the cultural construrction which did not permit woman to be active in polict. Finally, Rohana decided to remain her struggle for woman tthrough the journalist and education until she died.

Abstract

Many factors influence the increasing of domestic violence. They are economics, cultural, the limitation of society knowledge about domestic violence, and the limitation of available formal institution as the place of termination of domestic violence cases. The limitation of the formal institution can be understood, because it relates to the formal problem which is arranged by state, so that, the formal institution cannot be expected fully becomes a place of overcoming it. Considering the cases of domestic violence can be happened in all society, hence, the nearest institution with the society is the local institution where that society resides in. This institution can be in the form of custom institution. Therefore, it can be one of the alternatives in overcoming cases of domestic violence.

Abstract

This paper seek to highlight economic activities in a matrilineal culture. Matrilineal cultural system has given enormous privileges forMinangkabau women. They have the right to manage the communal property. As the result, the practice of this culture promotes economic independence amongs Minangkabau people. There are three typical characteristics enclosed to this ethnic. First, Minangkabau people are keen practitioners of merantau (going overseas/leaving native places) tradition. Second, Islam is this ethnic official religion and the third, this ethnic practices matrilineal cultural system. This paper observes the activities ofMinangkabau women who travel from one to other traditional markets as merchants which begins to gain popularity as a profession for Minangkabau women in the outset of Asian 1997 monetary crisis. Sikaladi was chosen as the research location of this study. Sikaladi is a jorong (a sub village) within the nagari of Pariangan The result show that, traveling as merchants can be promulgate as a semi-merantau activity. Those women leave their village on the basis and return in the same day. Currently, it has been noted that there are 69 woman traveling merchants in this jorong which means 40%of the overall women population of the jorong are traveling merchants. This situation suggests that these women involvement in economic activities has saved the course of their family from the disastrous storm of the 1997 monetary crisis. Further, it reduces the degree of poverty in this region. Most importantly, it also reduces the number of unemployment among women of productive age in Sikaladi.

Abstract

Minangkabau is one of the ethnic groups in Indonesia where local social context strongly influenced by social designs built by scholars as one of the local elite, as scholars here plays a big build community through the code of conduct characteristic of a responsive approach to theological education. Theological responsive characteristics was described by scholars transformative, the scholars who controlled sociological lokas that the presence of religion that feels as responsive theological moral values and religious teachings can be internalized in the social life of the community. Theological responsive it is basically inherent in the educational characteristics established by scholars in educational institutions surau as initial educational institutions for the Minangkabau. Responsive theological scholars characteristics of transformative education, the scholars not just spreading the ideas to change society and the individual, but also a prominent cleric transformative reference, so that the cleric was an icon morality. In the present condition of national morality, the role of the ulama transformative theological education responsive characteristics, be an alternative to improve the morality of a nation torn apart again, this time because of the moral crisis caused by the loss of educational institutions to internalize the moral values builder it. Cleric transformative Minangkabau with agencies and educational institutions through the development surau responsive characteristics of theological education has obvious positive implications for the development of a civilized moral nation.
