Abstract

This study examines the supporting and inhibiting factors of female leadership in Islamic elementary schools. This qualitative study collects data through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies. The collected data was validated using triangulation and member checking, and then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The selection of women to occupy essential positions in schools is based on their competence and experience. Women are given equal rights to develop curriculum managerial potential and abilities. As a result, female teachers increasingly have the same abilities and competencies, even better than men. The nature of women who are gentler, patient, detailed, and thorough is allegedly one of the reasons why leaders now prefer female teachers to be leaders in schools. Even so, good women's leadership competencies still experience obstacles to achieving the school's vision, such as; 1) Limited input of quality female human resources, 2) The inability of female leaders to condition their emotions when faced with the natural nature of women (during menstruation, pregnancy, and their obligations as wives and mothers), 3) work piling up, and 4) differences in perceptions between teachers Woman. However, these inhibiting factors can sometimes be countered by factors that support women's leadership, such as; 1) a supportive work environment, 2) a history of education that is linear with work, 3) adequate facilities and infrastructure, and 4) school regulations that support the concept of gender equality. The findings of this study refute previous opinions which stated that Islam is a religion that prohibits women from becoming leaders, but instead, this study provides new evidence that Islam is a religion that upholds the concept of gender equality.

The data were then analyzed according to the Miles and Huberman stage model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings of this study illustrate that: 1) father is actively involved in the domestic sphere, namely childcare, such as reading inspirational stories to children, making children's toys, preparing children's meals, teaching children to ride bicycles, and playing with children. Abstract

The gender mainstreaming (GM) policy was released 24 years ago. However, on the way, it still has not had a significant impact on the realization of gender equality and justice. In fact, in many cases, there has actually been an increase in violence against women and children in Indonesia. This article aims to explore the context behind the birth of regulations on gender mainstreaming in three districts (Pemalang, Pati, and Jepara) and to examine the effectiveness of the implementation of gender mainstreaming in the three districts. This article uses qualitative methods and field research. This article reveals several findings, including; First, the biggest challenge in implementing gender mainstreaming lies in the commitment and capacity of system actors in gender mainstreaming in each district; Second, the commitment of policymakers has not been accompanied by effective implementation and monitoring and evaluation. Therefore, it is necessary to bridge commitments, regulations, and policy implementation so that the implementation of gender mainstreaming is not trapped in formalities and even tends to be normative-administrative. More than that, gender mainstreaming must have an impact on gender equality and justice, disability, and inclusivity in society with its original goal.

Abstract

This research examines the childfree decision made by Gita Savitri and her partner through the lens of radical feminism and Islamic jurisprudence, specifically the Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah (higher objectives of Islamic law) as outlined by Imam al-Syatibi. The phenomenon of childfree is explored in relation to the feminist concepts of libertarian radical feminism and cultural radical feminism, alongside Islamic perspectives on family and reproduction. purpose of this study is to ascertain how these viewpoints support or contradict the maqasid al-shari'ah, especially the fundamental Islamic legal precepts of life preservation (hifzh nafs) and offspring preservation (hifzh nasl). To collect pertinent data, a variety of books, articles, and journals are read as part of the qualitative research methodology, which is based on a library research strategy. Depending on the feminist and Islamic perspectives used, the finding may indicate that different people have varied opinions about childfree choices.1) Cultural radical feminists could interpret childfree options as a rejection of traditional femininity and authority. 2) Whereas libertarian feminists see them as a way for women to achieve their own emancipation. 3)Although having children is highly regarded in the Islamic framework, women's liberty may be respected without completely abandoning Islamic family and ancestry-related beliefs if society norms and individual choice are balanced.

Abstract

This research aims to describe gender construction in Wasilomata community culture related to gender role mapping and access to public power. This research is qualitative with an ethnographic approach. The research location is Wasilomata Village, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. The research informants were customary chiefs, traditional leaders, and village heads, who have knowledge related to the issues under study. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation, with the researcher as the main instrument. Data validity techniques used triangulation, namely cross-checking between interview data, observations, and documents. Data analysis used James P. Spradley's interactive model of ethnographic data analysis. The result of this research is that the socio-cultural system influences the legitimization of male and female power in Wasilomata society. Based on two main foundations for the formation of gender construction in social reality, namely mythical beliefs and religious interpretations in mapping the gender roles of men and women and the basis for the formation of social norms in regulating opportunities for access to public power. Prominent social norms only represent men by prohibiting women from participating at the public level, resulting in gender inequality. The results of this study provide insight into the importance of establishing gender equality in the social structure of society, as well as explaining how inequality between men and women can hinder women from innovating and changing in inclusive social development. This finding can be a valuable asset for efforts to prevent what is relatively a myth in perpetuating gender inequality in various societies.

Abstract

This study explores the influence of women's representation in the Indonesian Parliament (DPR RI) on women's health outcomes, specifically through the mediation of health policies. The primary objective is to assess whether increased political representation of women leads to improved health conditions for women by influencing policy decisions. The research adopts a quantitative approach, utilizing path analysis using Stata over 15 years. The model examines the relationship between women's representation as the exogenous variable, women's health policies as the intervening variable, and various indicators of women's health as the endogenous variable. Of the 14 health equations analyzed, only two yielded significant results: (1) a direct effect of women's political representation on women's health and (2) a direct effect of women's representation on the coverage of health insurance in Indonesia. The limited significance of these results is attributed to the fact that the 30% gender quota in Parliament has not been fully achieved, and the indicators used to measure women's health may not be fully representative. The study underscores the need for a more balanced representation of women in legislative bodies and the development of more comprehensive health indicators to capture the state of women's health in Indonesia.
