Jurnal Insan Pendidikan dan Sosial Humaniora merupakan wadah publikasi ilmiah yang berfokus pada kajian multidisiplin di bidang pendidikan, sosial, dan humaniora. Abstract

The interaction between teachers and students plays a crucial role in creating an effective learning environment. Empathy-based communication is an approach that can enhance the quality of interaction by understanding students' emotional and academic needs. This study aims to analyze the role of empathetic communication in supporting the teaching process. A qualitative research approach was employed, with a case study conducted at SDN 060842 Sekip Medan. Data were collected through observations and interviews with homeroom teachers. The findings indicate that empathy-based communication can increase student participation, create a positive learning environment, and help teachers identify learning obstacles. However, the implementation of empathetic communication still faces challenges, such as teachers' workload and time constraints. Therefore, training and policies that support its implementation in schools are necessary. This study emphasizes that empathetic communication is not just a teaching strategy but also a means of building stronger and more harmonious relationships between teachers and students.

Abstract

Harmony between religious communities can be achieved by remembering that Indonesia is a country rich in culture, so harmony between religious communities can also be expressed in the form of traditional wisdom. The purpose of this study is to determine harmonious interfaith relations in Aek Garut Village, Pandan District, Central Tapanuli Regency. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative research about the social analysis of harmonious interfaith relations in Aek Garut Village, Pandan District, Central Tapanuli Regency. The socio-religious life of the people of Aek Garut Village looks very harmonious because this is indicated by the fact that there has never been a conflict between religions in the village. Harmony between religious communities in Aek Garut village creates a peaceful society without conflict and this is because the community wants to maintain harmony. It can be concluded that creating harmony between faiths in Aek Garut Village can be done by treating others with respect by accepting differences as a characteristic of diversity.

Abstract

The use of visual media in mathematics learning can help students understand difficult concepts, especially abstract ones. Images allow students to visualize mathematical processes, such as addition and subtraction, making these concepts easier to grasp. Visual media serves as an effective tool for delivering content, particularly in topics like geometry, which are hard to imagine using formulas alone. Additionally, visual media can enhance students' interest and motivation in mathematics, as learning becomes more engaging and enjoyable.

Abstract

Library Management in Efforts to Improve Students’ Literacy Skills at SMK Negeri 2 Panyabungan, aims to examine library management, students’ literacy abilities, and the supporting and inhibiting factors in enhancing literacy. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected from librarians, students, the principal, and teachers. The findings show that library management consists of planning (goal setting, forming a literacy team, and planning programs such as morning assemblies), implementation (reading before lessons and searching for additional materials in the library), and evaluation (monitoring library visits, book loans, and the book collection). Students' literacy skills are considered good, as demonstrated through morning assembly activities, reading before classes, and active participation. Supporting factors include well-organized book collections, adequate facilities, and collaboration between the school administration, teachers, and librarians. On the other hand, inhibiting factors include poorly managed library visitation schedules, limited technological facilities, and an insufficient number of computers compared to the number of students. The study concludes that effective library management plays a significant role in improving students’ literacy, although further support is needed to overcome existing challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of principal academic supervision and teacher work motivation on the performance of senior high school teachers in Balige District, Toba Regency. Teacher performance is a key factor in achieving educational goals, influenced by external support such as academic supervision and internal factors such as work motivation. The research method employed is quantitative inferential, with a population of 143 teachers from three different senior high schools. The sample, determined using the Krejcie table, comprised 120 respondents. Data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire consisting of 60 items. The results of data analysis show that principal academic supervision has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, contributing between 12.5% and 29.0%. Similarly, teacher work motivation also has a positive and significant effect, contributing between 12.3% and 23.8%. Simultaneously, principal academic supervision and teacher work motivation have a significant combined effect on teacher performance, contributing between 21.3% and 36.2%. These findings highlight the importance of effective academic supervision by school principals and the need to enhance teacher motivation in order to support the achievement of optimal performance.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of traditional games as a strategy for instilling multicultural values and character education in elementary school students. Employing a qualitative approach, this research explores the potential of traditional games in shaping attitudes of tolerance, cooperation, and mutual respect for differences among students. The results indicate that traditional games are not only entertainment but also an effective learning medium for instilling positive values and strengthening students' character in the context of cultural diversity.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh budaya organisasi dan kepemimpinan kepala sekolah terhadap kinerja guru SMA Negeri di Kecamatan Balige, baik secara parsial maupun simultan. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif inferensial dengan populasi 113 guru dan sampel sebanyak 55 orang yang dipilih secara simple random sampling. Uji coba instrumen dilakukan kepada 30 guru di luar sampel utama dan seluruh instrumen dinyatakan valid dan reliabel. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket tertutup berisi 87 item. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa budaya organisasi berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja guru dengan kontribusi sebesar 24,1% (Fhitung 16,856 > Ftabel 3,15). Kepemimpinan kepala sekolah juga berpengaruh positif dan signifikan dengan kontribusi sebesar 27,2% (Fhitung 19,769 > Ftabel 3,15). Secara simultan, budaya organisasi dan kepemimpinan kepala sekolah berpengaruh terhadap kinerja guru dengan kontribusi sebesar 35% (Fhitung 14,029 > Ftabel 3,15). Dengan demikian, ketiga hipotesis dalam penelitian ini diterima.

Abstract

The influence of communication is the most important thing in human life to provide support and good motivation to each other. The purpose of this study is to determine the Influence of Communication Between Parents and Migrant Students on Cultural Adaptation Skills in Makassar City, where the inhibiting factors are. In this study, the method used is a qualitative method, using data collection techniques, observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of research in the field, it was obtained that the influence of communication between parents and migrant students on cultural adaptation skills in Makassar City was not optimal because it was seen from the low quality network so that communication between parents and migrant students was not in accordance with expectations. In addition, there is also a factor of lack of understanding of parents in operating the media accompanied by their respective busyness.

Abstract

This research explores the correlation between parenting styles and the level of independence among children with special needs attending Special Needs Schools (SLB). Parenting plays a pivotal role in shaping children’s behavioral development and functional abilities, particularly for those requiring more tailored and supportive approaches. Employing a quantitative method with a causal-comparative design, data were obtained through a structured questionnaire distributed to parents of children aged 7–12 with special needs. The results indicate a significant positive correlation between the authoritative (democratic) parenting style and children’s independence. In contrast, authoritarian and permissive styles showed limited influence. These findings underscore the importance of a balanced parenting model that blends guidance with autonomy, as it fosters greater independence in children's daily functioning. The study is expected to contribute to the formulation of family support initiatives and inclusive education policies that strengthen the role of parents as key educators.

Abstract

Student truancy and tardiness are serious problems that impact students' academic achievement and social-emotional development. This study aims to examine the strategies implemented by Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers in dealing with students who often truant and are late at SMP Negeri 1 Tigo Nagari. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the strategies implemented include early identification of at-risk students, strengthening teacher-student relationships, ongoing counseling services, parental involvement, implementation of group guidance, and consistent enforcement of regulations. These strategies have proven effective in reducing the level of student absence and tardiness. This study concludes that the role of BK teachers is very important in creating a school environment that supports student discipline and involvement. These findings are expected to be a reference for other schools in developing a systematic and collaborative guidance approach.
