Abstract

As its food diversification effort, Blitar develops modified cassava flour (mocaf) using cassava as raw material. Mocaf is considered as one of agricultural commodities with good prospect for development. Sari Raos food processing cluster is one of Putri Kencana programs. A study on this cluster, using Porter’s Four Diamond Framework, has been conducted for two years. The result shows that mocaf based food processing industrial cluster in Blitar canbe synergized with in the Sourthern region of Java. Strategies to develop/strengthen the cluster can be implemented with the programs of Blitar local government.

of information on their thermal properties. Although a lot of experimental data can be found, the variety of products and the differences in measurement method make limitation on the value of the available data, especially for Indonesia’s products. These data are needed to get information about temperature change when a product was processed by heating or cooling. The data are important for optimizing the efficiency of energy used in the process. The objective of this study is to determine thermal diffusivity and conductivity of mahkota dewa or crown of god (Phaleria macrocarpha). The values were determined numerically with indirect methods. The result shows that thermal conductivity of mahkota dewa is 0.1359 W/moC, while its thermal diffusivity is 4.11x10-8 m2/s.

Abstract

Beta glucan is a polysaccharide compound, generally not soluble inwater and resistant to acid. Beta glucan is used as an immunomodulator (enhancing the immune system) in mammals is usually a beta-glucan soluble in water, easily absorbed and has a low molecular weight. Several example of beta-glucan such as cellulose (β-1 ,4-glucan), lentinan (β-1 0.6-glucan) and (β-1 ,3-glucan), pleuran (β-1, 6 and β-1 ,3-glucan) are isolated from species of fungi Basidiomycota include mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) and shiitake (Lentinus edodes). The purpose of thisresearch activity is to obtain beta-glucan compound that can be dissolved in water and in alkali derived from fungi Basidiomycota, i.e, Oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) and shiitake (Lentinus edodes). The result of beta-glucan compared to characterize the resulting beta glucan that is molecular structure . The difference of beta glucan extraction is based on the differences in solubility of beta-glucan. Beta glucan could be water soluble and insoluble water.

Abstract

The business unit's black tea processing of Perkebunan Nusantara suffered a loss of approximately Rp.60 billion. This is caused by the failure to achieve the quality and quantity of production which has been targeted by the management. Black tea processing factory "Pahit Madu" is required to improve the performance of the production process. To improve the production of black tea starts from improved production equipment through improved equipment utilization. One method ofmeasuring the effectiveness of using an apparatus is Overall EquipmentEffectiveness (OEE). OEE calculation results show that black tea factory "Pahit Madu" for four (4) years under the standard. Means, the effectiveness of utilization of equipment in the factory black tea "Pahit Madu" was still very low. This was shown by the low performance equipment in the milling unit, drying unit and sortation unit. Toimprove the performance of the plant should begin by increasing the Cutting Tearing Curling (CTC) machine in milling stations, machines Fluid Bed Dryer (FBD) and Heat Exchanger (HE) at the drying stations, and Winnower machines at the sortation stations.

Abstract

Recycling paper is a solution to overcome the depletion of virgin pulp from trees and reduce the impact of global warming. Deinking paper is very important in the process of recycling paper. Xylanase application of research required for deinking outworn NCR paper and paper money. Deinking enzymatic is a clean technology and produces less waste than conventional deinking (chemicals). Xylanase AQ-1 which is a crude enzyme from Bacillus sp isolates AQ-1 can work well in the deinking process on the amount of enzyme addition of 0.2% in the pulp with the conditions of pH 7 and temperature of 50oC for 120 minutes. While the recombinant xylanase AQ-1 which is the result of genetic xylanase AQ-1 grown in E. coli can work well in the deinking process on the amount of enzyme addition of 0.1% in the pulp with the conditions of pH 7 and temperature of 50oC for 60 minutes. Xylanase AQ-1 increases the degree of whiteness of green NCR paper pulp from the control (40.1) into (53.9) and pulp paper moneyof the control (50.1) into (66.6). While AQ-1 recombinant xylanase increases the degree of whiteness of green NCR paper pulp from control ( 40.1) into (52.0) pulp and paper money from the control (50.1) into (63.4). Xylanase AQ-1 and recombinant xylanase AQ-1 potential in the green NCR paper deinking and paper deinking paper money, although the money still leaves some smudges on the results because of a special polymer coating that coats the waterproof paper money proficiency level.

Abstract

The contribution of rubber to national economic and social development is important for Indonesia. However, smallholding rubber, the dominant rubber producer, has low productivity. Indonesian government has been introduced various technologies including clonal planting material to increase the productivity increase rubber production and farmers’ incomes. However. This study helped to identify the main reasons, motivations and constraints that influenced a farmer’s decision in Jambi and West Kalimantan to adopt or not adopt clonal rubber by using Focus GroupDiscussion (FGD) method. This study show that the main constraint in adoption for both areas was limitation of capital as the clonal rubber required more capital to establish. The other constraints are risk and uncertainties including pest and disease problems, the shortage of labour, lack of access to clonal seedlings. This study result can be used by Indonesian Government in order to encourage rubber farmers inJambi and West Kalimantan to adopt clonal rubber to increase rubber productivity as well as farmer’s income.
