Abstract

In order to meet the safety and security of the public transportation, design specification of construction body bus or bus frame structures should have an appropriate structural strength and comply with standard design including the safety factor and selection of material besides static and dynamic testing of the part of body bus. It is also realized that a bus carrying passengers have to give secure to the passengers also driver.The fact that a technology concerning with metal works industry to fascinate the body bus industry is being used in small and medium body bus industries. Eventhough some of the body bus industries having designer background but it may still develop their design capability by using advanced technology. Materials to be used for designing parts of body bus should meet specific requirements. It could be understood that safety and security during operation is a priority matter.Lifetime of the bus parts or components may be predicted through the dynamic or fatigue test from its parts or components. Palmgren and Miner hypothesis may be used in dynamic ratio decision in connection with fatigue test application up to the fraction of the parts or components being tested.

Abstract

Subsurface geological investigation has been carried out in Pulau Laut Strai, Kotabaru Distric South Kalimantan by using seismic reflection and gravity corer methods. The aim of this suvei are identified subsurface geological features ie : litology, struktur geology and sea floor litology. The bathymetric map shows that the Suwangi Island and surrounding area have shallow water and simple geological structures. Sea floor sediment covered by sand (40%), silt (35%), gravels (15%) and silt (10%). The acoustic basement in Tanjung Ajun (first location) area shows in between 4 to 18 meters depth, while in the west and east of Suwangi Island (second location) in between 2 to 20 meters depth.

Abstract

Drought risk in Indonesia , particularly in Java Island will continuously increase. Global warming, environmental degradation, increased population, and poverty will more and more increase drought risk faced by the community. It is estimated that approximately 77% of the districts and cities in Java Island have experienced one to eight months of water deficit in one year. In 2025 the number of districts and cities experience water deficit will become 78.4% with a deficit from one month to twelve months or one full year. To reduce the risk posed by drought, community’spreparedness will need to be enhanced through the provision of water to deal with drought. Several rain harvesting techniques such as construction of water reservoirs, water tanks and absorption wells, as well as conservation of ground water, may be applied in high risks areas. Such rain harvesting techniques have indeed been implemented in many areas by traditional communities. Community’s capacity may be enhanced through continuous drought risk reduction programs that are based in the grassroots level and involve all relevant stakeholders. The role ofthe community becomes very crucial because in reality the people and local organizations constitute the keys in disaster risk reduction initiatives. The present initiatives involve community’s participation that is based on the following principles: based on the problems faced and the opportunities available in the community; using feasible solutions; encouraging partnerships with external parties; employing local knowledge and skills; focusing on the original conditions; and with clearly visible outputs.

Abstract

Cooperation development between regencies in Buntago Area (Buntok-Tanjung-Tanah Grogot) has been signed five year ago, but there is no significance realization. The aim of this article is to analyse the opportunities of cooperation in those area by comparison analysis, network and of suply-demand analysis.The result indicated that there are some opportunities to develop economic activities mainly in agricultural sector, services and mining. The result also indicated the opportunties to use high school building and its facilities together, optimizing a port in Tanah Grogot as outlet, and labor management cooperationamong the regencies.

Abstract

In order to investigate the behavior of the solar home systems, 10 data loggers have been installed in three different villages in Kolaka district in Southeast Sulawesi in March 2001. The solar home systems installed in Kolaka consists of a 50 Wp Solarex MSX 50 modules, 70 Ah battery, 10A/12volt battery charge regulator (BCR) and three 6W fluorescent lights. This paper will present and elaborate the performance of solar home systems, which includes Vbattery, VLoad, ILoad, Imodule and comparison between theoretical calculation and field measurement. Results of monitoring nine solar home systems in Kolaka district in Indonesia are presented. Data logger information shows typical load patterns, and differences between users. The information allows for break-down of a number of different energy loss categories. Some of these losses can be reduced by the user.

Abstract

Steel represents a metallic material which is still dominantly used in the engineering industry and mechanical construction. In order to fulfil the industrial demand, the high quality and mechanical properties of steel has to be always available.It is necessary to conduct a heat-treatment process to identify the improvement of mechanical properties and microstructure of steel JIS G 4051 grade S 45 C .Results of the heat-treatment process indicate that the maximum tensile strength of the investigated steel is 1074 MPa , it is earning from the warm-up temperature 860 °C and the highest hardness of the investigated steel is 579 HV it is earning from the warm-up temperature 920 °C . These results meet to AISI – SAE 1045 or JIS G 4051 grade S 45 C standard.

Abstract

Expense of feed represent the expense of biggest in conservancy of broiler (about 70 %). Breeder most still wear factory feed which is its raw material still import. Therefore, feed need local ingredient, so that price of feed earn cheaperly. This reseach done at Rancamaya, Bogor region to know effect of using local ingredient for broiler performance. Treatment in this reseach are using local feed (R0); local feed with probiotic Semai (R1); local feed with probiotic Fermacto (R2), local feed with probiotic Broiler-NL (R3) and factory feed (R4). Local feed and local feed with probiotic are feed with self formulation (R0, R1, R2 and R3). The local ingredient used are corn, rice brand, fish meal, hull soybean meal, grit, DCP, premix. Parameters measured were feed intake, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio and economic aspects. The result of reseach shows that feed with self formulation (local feed with probiotic Broiler-NL = R3) are best alternatif to pressure high price of feed and useable by farmer.Biaya pakan merupakan biaya terbesar dalam pemeliharaan ayam broiler (sekitar 70 %). Peternak sebagian besar masih memakai pakan pabrik yang bahan bakunya masih impor. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pakan berbahan baku lokal, sehingga harga pakan bisa lebih murah. Penelitian ini dilakukan didaerah Bogor untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan bahan pakan lokal terhadap performan ayam broiler . Perlakuan dalam penelitian, adalah : penggunaan pakan lokal (R0); pakan lokal dengan probiotik Semai (R1); pakan lokal dengan probiotik Fermacto (R2), pakan lokal dengan probiotik Broiler - NL (R3) dan pakan pabrik (R4). Pakan lokal dan pakan lokal ditambah probiotik adalah pakan dengan formulasi sendiri (R0, R1, R2 and R3). Adapun bahan baku lokal yang digunakan adalah jagung, dedak padi, tepung ikan, bungkil kedelai, grit , DCP, premix. Parameter yang diukur adalah konsumsi ransum, pertambahan bobot badan, rasio konversi ransum dan aspek ekonomi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pakan dengan formulasi sendiri (pakan lokal dengan probiotik Broiler-NL = R3) memberikan alternatif terbaik, sehingga dapat menekan tingginya harga pakan dan bisa digunakan oleh petani.Keywords: probiotic, local feed, performance, broiler.

Abstract

The objectives of the research are to evaluate the suitability of land for sugarcane growth and give recommendation through land fertilization for optimal sugarcane cultivation. Furthermore, the impacts of this action are to increase the planting area of sugarcane and productivity. The research use Geographical Information System (GIS) in Brebes Regency, starting from June until October 2003. The results of the research showed that the suitable, conditionally suitable, and not suitable land for sugarcane cultivation in Brebes Regency reach to a high of 40,148 ha, 7,555 ha, and 124,071 ha respectively. Based on the soil condition with low contents of N, P and K, the dosage calculation of N, P, and K fertilizers for optimal sugarcane cultivation reach to a high of: N (ZA) = 575 kg/ha, P (SP-36) = 170 kg/ha, and K (KCl) = 600 kg/ha.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi kesesuaian lahan untuk pertumbuhan tebu dan memberikan rekomendasi melalui pemupukan lahan untuk budidaya tebu yang optimal. Selain itu, dampak dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan luas tanam tebu dan produktivitasnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan Sistem Informasi Geografis (GIS) di Kabupaten Brebes, mulai dari bulan Juni sampai Oktober 2003. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanah yang cocok, cocok bersyarat, dan tidak cocok untuk budidaya tebu di Kabupaten Brebes mencapai 40.148 ha, 7.555 ha, dan 124.071 ha. Berdasarkan kondisi tanah dengan kandungan rendah N, P dan K, perhitungan dosis pupuk N, P, dan K untuk budidaya tebu secara optimal mencapai: N (ZA) = 575 kg/ha, P (SP 36) = 170 kg/ha, dan K (KCl) = 600 kg/ha.Keywords: sugarcane, cultivation, fertilizers, land, suitability

Abstract

In effort to get the true-to-type “Kopyor” coconut (matured coconut with broken meat particles due to abnormal formation of endosperm), the only way is inoculate the embryo in synthetic media under in vitro condition. A protocol of coconut embryo culture was established for “Kopyor” coconut grown in East Java through testing a number of media protocols and adding auxin IBA for rooting. The media protocols tested consisted of Y3 (Eeuwens) and MS (Murashige & Skoog) basal media, i.e. Protocol I (UPLB/Philippiness) as a control, Protocol II with a series of solid media Y3 (solid Y3 in germinating phase; solid Y3 in subculture I,II,III and solid Y3 in subculture IV), Protocol III with a series of solid media Y3 in germinating phase; solid Y3 in subculture I,II,III ; and liquid Y3 in subculture IV, Protocol IV with a series of solid media MS (solid MS in germinating phase; solid MS in subculture I,II,III; solid MS in subculture IV), and Protocol V with a series of liquid media MS in germinating phase; solid Y3 in subculture I,II,III; liquid Y3 in subculture IV. The growth of Kopyor coconut embryo was very fast in media Protocol II (a series of solid media Y3) and forming prefect plantlet higher than others. The alternative protocol that could give a positive result was Protocol III, this protocol showed a plantlet good rooting. Growth regulator IBA could induce primary root of kelapa kopyor plantlets. The effective concentration to stimuli lateral root of kelapa kopyor plantlet was 2 ppm IBA.

Abstract

The sugarcane condition in Indonesia until now tend to decline where it is shown from the lack of sugarcane supply for fulfilling consumsion. During Dutch colony especially in 1930’s Indonesia became second big exporting of sugarcane in the world. Whereas now Indonesia become the second importing countries of sugarcane in the world. The upset condition is caused by several reasons such as: (a). Prime Bud are not available at the period time of planting, (b). Quantity of Prime Bud are not enough in order to supply the farmers need, (c). Quality of Prime Bud are not good enough according to local condition, (d). Price of Prime Bud is quite high in such away that farmers are not able to buy according to foarmers economic condition, and (e). Farmers have difficulties to access Prime Bud. Through development of sugarcane Prime Bud it will support significant incrase of sugarcane production and furthermore it will lead to sugarcane self sufficiency in Indonesia.
