Abstract

This study aims to explore the character values contained in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum and their role in student character building. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, the research was conducted in several secondary schools in Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with PAI teachers, students, and Islamic religious education experts, as well as classroom observations and curriculum documentation studies. The results showed that the PAI curriculum has integrated various character values, such as honesty, discipline, responsibility, empathy, and tolerance in the teaching materials. However, the implementation of this curriculum still faces challenges, including time constraints, lack of training for teachers in teaching character, and the negative influence of technology and social media on students. As a solution, this study suggests increased teacher training, integration of character values in all subjects, and positive use of technology in learning. This research provides important insights for the development of PAI curriculum as an effective tool in shaping students' character in the modern era.

Abstract

Civic education is incorporated into every level of basic education as part of the curriculum and continuous teaching to fulfill national education goals. It aims to shape citizens who can actively contribute to sustainable development in a competitive country. The goal of civic education is to produce good citizens, capable of engaging in nation-building. One key aspect of this is character building, which is inseparable from the moral development needed in a civil society. As agents of change, the younger generation must be equipped with critical thinking skills to address both domestic and global issues that impact Indonesia. This study seeks to explore the role of civic education in helping future generations develop these skills and become responsible citizens capable of addressing concerns within and outside the country. The method used in this research is a literature review, which gathers data from books, documents, articles, and other publications related to evaluation issues in civic education. This approach is recommended for Indonesian students' education as it provides a deeper understanding of civic education's role in developing critical thinking. The findings of this study highlight that civic education not only shapes students into active and responsible citizens but also equips them with the tools to engage with national and global issues. It underscores the importance of integrating character and moral development into civic education to help create individuals who are prepared to lead and drive positive societal change.

Abstract

The obligation of a husband to provide alimony (nafaqah) to his wife is a cornerstone of Islamic family law, emphasizing the husband's role as the financial provider. This obligation persists even in cases of the husband's incapacity, unlike other forms of maintenance, and unfulfilled alimony becomes a debt that must be settled. This study explores the legal remedies available to wives when husbands neglect their alimony responsibilities, focusing on the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI) in Indonesia. This research was conducted using the literature research method, examining literature materials related to the research problem. This study suggests that a wife can take legal action against her husband for divorce if he fails to fulfil his responsibility to provide for their family. The Compilation of Islamic Law states that both spouses have the right to seek legal redress if they neglect their duties.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with diverse ethnicities, traditions, and beliefs. History records that the founders of Indonesia came from different ethnicities, religions, traditions, languages, skin colors, and hair types. These differences did not diminish their spirit of unity in establishing an independent and sovereign Indonesia. Islam is a religion that pays great attention to social aspects. As the holy book, the Qur'an contains teachings that encourage good and proper social interactions (mu’amalat) with others without discrimination and emphasize moderation (tawasut), avoiding extreme inclinations to the right or left. Therefore, maintaining Indonesia’s unity requires a strong spirit and a proper understanding of Islam. This article examines the concept of religious moderation in the Qur'an. To construct and support the author's arguments, various opinions from different sources are cited. The findings documented in this article indicate that the Qur'an, as the holy book of Muslims, encourages good social interactions (mu’amalat) and promotes moderation (tawasut), avoiding extreme tendencies in any direction.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of dancing in the sholawat gatherings. This issue has sparked a debate on whether or not dancing in these gatherings is acceptable, with opposing views from both proponents and opponents. The group in favor of this phenomenon argues that dancing in sholawat gatherings is a form of expressing joy. Meanwhile, the group opposed to it believes that dancing in such gatherings is inappropriate. Given this polemic, the aim of this research is to examine the phenomenon of dancing in sholawat gatherings from the moral philosophy perspectives of Ibn Miskawaih and Jean-Paul Sartre. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach. Data collection is carried out through the review of relevant literature. The results of this study show that, according to Ibn Miskawaih's perspective, dancing in sholawat gatherings is an excessive act and thus can be considered immoral. This is because Ibn Miskawaih's moral concept is based on balance, avoiding both extreme excess and extreme deficiency. On the other hand, from Jean-Paul Sartre's perspective, dancing in sholawat gatherings is not an issue, as it is part of an individual's expression of their existence. According to Sartre, an individual expresses their existence through freedom in taking action.
