Abstract

Gorontalo as a new province has many natural resources. One of the natural resource at Gorontalo Province that support society live is water resource. Because of the condition of natural, most of people in Gorontalo Province live as farmer and fisherman. On the other side this new province also has been developing many infrastructures and basic tools for irrigation and watering such as water channel, water dam, irrigation network, etc. The recording process of water resource assets that belong to this new province has been done every year by local government through the Gorontalo Province Water Resources Management Department. The water resource management system is computerized system that able to inventory water resources at Gorontalo Province in two river area development units, so the water resources potential in this province can  be retrieved easily and quickly. Katakunci : sumber daya air, prasarana dan sarana air, sistem pengelolaan data, potensi sumber daya air

Abstract

Wastewater coming from hospital represents one of the very potential sources of water contamination. This matter is caused by hospital wastewater contanined a lot of organic compound, and of other chemical compounds, and also patogen microorganism which able to cause disease to society. Because of potential impact of hospital waste to health of society is very big, hence hospital wastewater have to process until fulfill conditions according to effluent standard. One of the alternatives to overcome the problem is by using technology processing of wastewater with process of biofilter anerob-aerob. The anaerob-aerob biofilter process have some excellence for example its simple operation, yielded a few or little of mud, can be used for the processing of waste water with low concentration and also high concentration, hold up to fluctuation of  debit or concentration, and also its cheap operating expenses.  Kata kunci : Air limbah, rumah sakit, teknologi pengolahan, biofilter, anaerob-aerob.

Abstract

Crude palm oil produced in Indonesia has already been known as the second largest in Asia. Unfortunately tens of palm oil factories (CPOF) spread out in Indonesia have not good wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) yet. PT. Kertajaya, as an example, which is located in Regency Pandeglang, still has BOD contained in its final effluent of the wastewater treatment plant more than 200 ppm. In fact the capacity and capability of WWTP in PT. Kertajaya are much more than enough for only 288 m3 per day. Because of improper operation and maintenance of the WWTP, the technical problems are accumulated, such as, increasing the sediment, decreasing the retention time and channelling of the wastewater being treated. The following affect is the treatment process is not going well and the quality of effluent is getting worse. To solve the technical problems, it is very important to remove the sediment periodically and give aeration in the aerobic pond. A recommendation for the wastewater treatment system has been proposed. The system has eight processes including oil separation or first sedimentation, neutralization, equalization, anaerobic degradation, aerobic degradation,  final sedimentation and sludge drying. Katakunci : BOD, technical problem, wastewater, anaerobic. Abstract

The number of crude palm oil factory (CPOF) in Indonesia has already increased rapidly in the last fifteen years. In the same period, expansion of the palm plantation has also been continuing and growing, but unfortunately the accelerated growth is not same as the development of the wastewater treatment technology and its proper applications. Many CPOF in Indonesia have not a good wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). In fact they cause terribly environmental problems, especially related to surface water pollution. BOD content in the effluent of most CPOF is between 35,000 to 46,000 ppm and in the effluent of their WWTP it is much more than 100 ppm. Therefore it needs to propose a treatment system which can guarantee to reduce all pollutants till a value matching with the environmental quality standard. Based on the research result assessed by BPPT, an ideal WWTP suitable for CPOF is promoted to be considered as one very good alternative which is better applied for all CPOF in Indonesia. Abstract

Clean water needs and wastewater treatment will be a serious problem for industry especially for food industries. The packet information of applicable technology for water treatment and industrial waste handling that can support any development sector nowadays is needed by any kind of society especially for small and medium enterprise players. To face on globalisation, the computer and information technology will be used as an important tools for distributing the packet of technology from R&D community to any kind of society through global network. By using the existing network infrastructure in the country, the packet information of technology will be distributed electronically specially to help group of small and medium industry. As pilot project, this activity chooses the tahu/tempe industry located in Semanan,JakartaBarat for the industrial centre. Abstract

Domestic waste are known to be a potential pollutant due to its’ organic and inorganic content. It is also harmful for society for its pathogenic microorganism contents such as pathogenic bacteria, viruses, parasitic worms, parasitic protozoa, etc. The lack of domestic waste processing facilities is contributing to the increasing seriousness of this matter.One of the alternative ways to amend the problem is to process the waste individually or semi-communally by utilizing an aerobic-anaerobic biofilter process. Some of the advantage of utilizing this process is: easy maintenance, low operation cost, relatively lower sludge compared to the activated sludge  process, can remove nitrogen and phosphorus, relatively lower air supply requirement for aeration, applicable in processing waste water with large amount of BOD and it can also remove suspended solid (SS).  Results gained from experiments of the “Aerobic-Anaerobic Biofilter Combination” tool prototype, used for processing domestic waste showed that with a hydraulic retention time of 1 to 3 days and a Hydraulic   re-circulation ratio (HRR) of 1, is a highly efficient process which is: BOD 84.7% - 91%, COD 79.6%-95.3%, SS 94.1% - 95%, Ammonia (NH4-N) 89.3%-89.8%, Detergent (MBAS) 83% - 87% and phosphate (PO4) 44,4% - 47.3%. Kata kunci : Air limbah domestik, patogen, parasit, biofilter, anaerob, aerob.

Abstract

More than 90 % of Jakarta livestock supply, especially poultry, originated from outside the area. Meanwhile temporary places and slaughterhouse are spread out in some locations in Jakarta area, even most of them located in residences area. Almost all wastewater are not processed but straightly discharged to the sewer or river around the house. These spread chickens slaughterhouse activities caused environmental pollution which is difficult to control.This paper discussed about the design of wastewater process installation of chickens slaughter by biofilter anaerob-aerob process and test of its process result. Based on the test the removal efficiency of COD, Permanganate, BOD and Total Suspended Solid (TSS) were 86.52 %, 82.85 %, 88.79 % and 94.1 % respectively.. Keyword : Design, process, wastewater, chicken slaughterhouse, biofilter.

Abstract

Anaerobic treatment of synthetic wastewater with a high NaCl content was investigated for its effect on the process. The synthetic wastewater, including NaCl up to 40 g/l, was treated anaerobically by draw-and-fill method at a treatment temperature of 37℃ and volumetric loading of rate TOC of 1 g/l/d. TOC removal efficiency and rate of gas evolution rate gradually decreased as salt content increased, although stable operation was maintained. TOC removal efficiency remained high at concentration of NaCl up to 20 g/l, although it fell to 82 % at 30 g NaCl/l. The gas yield at 10, 20 and 30 g NaCl/l were 1.35; 1.10 and 1.00 l/g-TOC loaded, which corresponded to 96; 83 and 78% of that without NaCl, respectively. The content of methane in the evolved gas was 50 to 55% throughout the experiment. Stable operation could not be maintained at 40 g NaCl/l since the TOC removal efficiency gradually decreased with the rapid increased in levels of volatile fatty acidsKata kunci : fermentasi metana, garam NaCl, konduktifitas, asam-asam organik, biogas

Abstract

Evaluation of chloride (Cl-) content and electric conductivity  (EC) of ground water in aquifer system is one method to identify salt water movement in aquifer system, which occurred as a result of changes in hydraulic equilibrium which cause by temporary variation of natural recharges and pumping of ground water at many layered aquifers.Salt water movement in Jakarta aquifer system is evaluated based on mapping of chloride content at 500 mg/L and EC at 1500 m mhos/cm in many bored well during period of 1990 – 2000. In the beginning chloride content and EC is in value only and with the addition of attribute data, namely coordinate, it could be used as input data. By using software namely SURF, the above input data is simulate to have a contour map of chloride and EC. Overlapping of the contour map to Jakarta base map will result in thematic map of chloride and EC distribution which represent salt water movement at Jakarta aquifer system.   Key word : Aquifers, Aquifer system, Chloride (Cl-) , Electric Conductivity (EC), Map, Hydraulic Equilibrium, Ground water, SURF Software.

Abstract

In global industrial era, more than 70% industrial growth especially in Java will centrally around urban region. This matter can increase the environmental pollution as long as the progress of industry and technology development. Central and regional governments have continued to cope with the environmental pollution problem, although many environmental cases difficult to be resolved. This matter caused by the limited ability of observation technology and monitoring which conducted by the relevant institution and also because of the limited existing fund which allocated for the environment management. To increase the ability of environmental quality observation and monitoring technology in this time, we need the role of information and computation technology which can be used to observe and monitor online the source of pollution that resulting the environmental damages.
