Abstract

Nowadays the water quality monitoring project that had been doing by government institution is increase due to decreasing of water quality. Many methods and techniques are developed for water quality monitoring. The communication technology development such as GSM/CDMA technology can be used as new network infrastructure for water quality monitoring. People over the world are now using this technology as new communication medium. With SMS as the one of services from GSM technology people can send or receive messages easily. By using the integration of digital sensor for water quality, digital data logger and GSM modem as communication unit, the water quality can be monitored as cheap as sending the SMS by phone cell. The critical value of water quality parameter also can be monitored and sent to the phone cell of decision maker. Kata Kunci : Pemantauan Kualitas Air, Teknologi SMS, Radio Telemetry, Early Warning System (EWS), sistem komunikasi GSM (Global System Mobile Communication), SMS (Short Messages Service).

Abstract

The treatment process of wastewater contains organic pollutant which used in Indonesia especially in Jakarta is generaly activated sludge process. The problem is its treated water quality which frequently does not yet fulfilled to effluent standard of wastewater. Some affecting factors  are hydraulic retention time (HRT) too short, the fluctuation of wastewater flow rate, unfavorable function of aeration process and also which do not less important is operational mistake caused by insufficient knowledge of operator. To overcome the mentioned problems it is needed technological innovation to increase efficiency of wastewater treatment process especially activated sludge process. Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) technology is one of the  effective alternative for treating wastewater containing organic pollutants. In principle, MBBR is a modification of the activated sludge process is enhanced by adding the media into the aeration tank.This paper describes the study of domestic waste water treatment  using MBBR process which is filled with bioball plastic media which has specific surface 210 m2/m3 as much as 20 % of the volume of the aeration tank for attaching microorganism to increase efficiency and  keep stability of process.Result of the study shows that within 12 hours, 8 hours, 6 hours and 4 hours of hydraulic retention time (HRT) in aeration tank and sludge circulation ratio 0f R = 1.0 Q, the removal efficiency of ammonia were 94.05 %, 93.42 %, 89 %, and 79.6 % respectively. In ammonia loading 0.106 – 0.302 kg/m3.day, the removal efficiency of ammonia were 95.54 – 83.01 %. The greater ammonia loading,  removal efficiency of  ammonia  is getting smaller. Optimal residence time is 6 hours with ammonia removal efficiency reached 89 %, and the average concentration of ammonia in the effluent of 8.3 mg per litre.  Keyword : Domestic wastewater, ammonia, bioball, MBBR.

Abstract

Ariobimo building, now has a domestic wastewater treatment plant which is equipped with the system re-use. At first, the process of wastewater treatment technology using activated sludge process, while the system re-use of wastewater using a combination of chemical-physical processes, namely the process of coagulation-flocculation followed by sedimentation, filtration and adsorption last with. Because this process is not optimal, then this WWTP outlet and the quality of its water re-use can not meet the expected quality standards. After the improvement of the existing activated sludge process, the quality of this WWTP outlet can meet the quality standards of waste discharges. While the process of coagulation-flocculation is replaced with biofilter process using  honey comb tube media, the quality of the effluent can meet water quality standards. Keywords :Domestic wastewater,process modification,  water reused.

Abstract

Groundwater is water that occurs naturally in the subsurface, and is contained in the aquifer. Groundwater is the water source of the most widely used by the public for purposes of clean water. To determine the condition of the aquifer configuration one of the methods that can be used is the 2D electrical resistivity. Exploration drilling is one effective way to determine directly the presence of groundwater, but to determine the location of the drilling necessary geophysical approach to describe subsurface conditions prior to drilling. 2D electrical resistivity method is a geophysical method that utilizes dynamic electrical properties of the media path. 2D electrical resistivity measurements have been carried out in Kapuas, Central Kalimantan using Wenner configuration, the distance between the electrodes 10 meters, penetration depth reaches 80 meters, and and measuring some 21 track. Water potential zones were identified based on having resistivity range 15-25 ohm.m, contained in the sandstone layer, which is covered in a layer of impermeable mudstone layers. Location that has a high potential for groundwater recommended drilling done on the track P-07 and P-13, with an estimated depth of the aquifer between 25 meters and 30 meters. The highest groundwater potential lies between the drilling data PH-23 and PH-24, with the resistivity at that point reaches 300 ohm.m. Keywords : Groundwater, aquifer, sandstone, 2D electrical resistivity, resistivity, Kapuas

Abstract

Real-time water quality monitoring requires data logger for automatic data retrieval  by sensors. The hardware data logger for realtime monitoring can be developed by utilizing scars computer mainboard that are still functioning and widely avaliable in the market at low prices. Through online monitoring applications that developed by using free open source software, water quality data can be measured in accordance with the specified time interval and stored in the database system. This paper discusses the hardware selection and recomendation studies that include the motherboard and CPU, storage, transmission and communication medium required for the manufacturing of computer's mainboard based data logger. The results of this study are to be used as an alternative data logger selection for realtime water quality monitoring with low investment costs. So, the water companies can monitor raw water quality from their water treatment plant as well as the industrial can monitor wastewater quality from wastewater treatment plant. Keyword : online monitoring, real time monitoring, early warning system (EWS), open source software, data logger, onlimo OSS.

Abstract

Ground water is water located beneath the ground surface in soil pore spaces and in the fractures of lithologic formations. A unit of rock or an unconsolidated deposit is called an aquifer when it can yield a usable quantity of water. Ground water is alternative water to meet a demand of water supply, because the availability of surface water at an area is sometimes not enough to fulfill the need of drinking water, like occured in the Handil Babirik area. In this paper will be discribed concerning application of imaging resistivity technology for understanding characteristic and condition of ground water in Handil Babirik, Tanah Laut district, SouthKalimantanProvince. The result of survey in field, data processing, modelling and interpretation indicated that the existence of aquifer in Handil Babirik area is occupied between 30 – 40 meter depth and having a form of lens. Keywords : Handil Babirik, ground water, imaging resistivity

Abstract

In order to support the Government Regulation Number 42 of 2008 on the sustainable management of water resources, it is one of the responsibilities of government and the local government to carry out the management of water resources information system. Kabupaten Pandeglang is one area in Indonesia with the availability of water resources is quite large, so as to support the management of water resources need to built Database Information System for Water Resources Management (SISDA). SISDA is an application program based database created to facilitate the data management of water resources. This program has been applied in the Office Bappeda Pandeglang and information shown include the River Basin Unit (SWS), the Regional Jetting River (DPS), Creeks, Lakes, Swamps, Beaches, Ponds, Dams, Irrigation, Water Monitoring Station, Rain Station, and other information. Keywords : Water resource of Kabupaten Pandeglang, database, Information System for Water Resources Management.

Abstract

Overdrainaged phenomena on peat land after reclamated for agriculture area is indicated water management/water table control failure.  Water table depth of peat land on virgin forest that has been  reclamated is low (0.15 m) and this condition on Zamrud peat dome.  Water table dept on old reclamated peat land has better condition than peat land after new reclamated as plantation area. Peatland degradation showed overdrainage phenomena has potential happened on land clearing and  canal construction activity.  This condition have effected to water table dept  about 1 m. Overdrainaged impact on peatland has caused  fire of peatland.  For example this condition occured in  Siak Kecil peat dome and Kandis peat dome.  Keywords : peat dome, water table

Abstract

An identification of the environment characteristics of the Seribu Islands was conducted by using the physical and chemical data obtained from various sources. The characteristics of the water quality at the Seribu Island was identified as a moderate level in the middle part and better in the northern part. Abstract

The population is growing rapidly result to increased demand for drinking water while the other side of this situation causes to the increasing amount of wastewater. Waste water treatment plant has been built in several major cities in Indonesia to overcome the problem of pollution.  Wastewater treatment plant only treats wastewater to tackle environmental pollution without being able to overcome the shortage of clean water community. Therefore, to solve the existing problems will be considered any further processing with recycled waste water treatment. One technology that may be developed for this purpose is the system of Membrane Bioreactor (MBR). This has been widely applied as an advanced unit of wastewater treatment and serves as a unit of processing recycled waste water. The MBR system has advantages such as: it only takes a little bit of land, can treat wastewater with discharge varying quality and process wastewater with high pollutant removal efficiency. MBR were investigated using a membrane filter submerged in the reactor. Membrane module is hollow fiber with a form of polymeric membrane materials. Research has been done on wastewater treatment with a combination of conventional WWTP as preliminary and advanced processing unit with MBR since March 4, 2014 until June 2014. The effluent quality  of result research proved that  the treated water quality meets  water quality standards are set with  Permenkes RI N0.416/Menkes/Per/IX/1990, dated 3 September 1990. The nitrification and denitrification also proceed well so that the concentration of nitrite and nitrate meet the quality standards. In addition, the percentage removal of heavy metals (arsenic, cadmium, chromium, selenium, lead) can reach 99%. Keywords: MBR, wastewater reuse, BOD5, COD, HRT dan SRT
