Abstract

Dengan timbulan sampah sebesar 4.265 m3per hari, serta keterbatasan lahan Tempat Pemrosesan Akhir (TPA) sampah yang dimiliki, membuat Pemkot Depok melaksanakan program pengelolaan sampah berbasis masyarakatskala kawasan, melalui pembangunan dan pengelolaan Unit Pengolahan Sampah (UPS). Upaya tersebut dijadikan ujung tombak program pengurangan sampah. Keberhasilan ataupun kendala dalam pengelolaan UPS, akan dikaji dengan menggunakan proses komposting sebagai parameter analisis. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan: Potensi produksi kompos yang dihasilkan UPS cukup tinggi yaitu 27,57 ton per hari. Begitu pula potensi sampah organik yang dapat dikurangi sebesar 213,5 m3per hari, setara dengan 5% timbulan sampah per hari di kota Depok. Namun, dibandingkan dengan potensinya, produksi kompos eksisting sebesar 5,099 ton per hari dan eksisting sampah organik terolah sebanyak 40,85 m3per hari,baru setara dengan 20 % dari potensi yang ada. Untuk itu, produksi kompos eksisting masih terbuka untuk ditingkatkan, melalui upaya optimalisasi potensi UPS. Sampai saat ini belum ada UPS yang sudah mandiri. Partisipasi masyarakat masih terbatas pada upaya untuk membawa dan mengumpulkan sampah, selain menjadi tenaga kerja dan koordinator pengelola di UPS. Kata kunci: Pengelolaan sampah berbasis masyarakat skala kawasan, unit pengelolaan sampah, komposting, partisipasi masyarakat. AbstractWith waste generation of 4,265 m3 per day and limited current landfill field (TPA), Depok City Government has been implemented district scale of community-based waste management program through the development and management of Waste Processing Units (UPS). That efforts become the spearheading of waste reduction program. The successor issues in the management ofUPS, will be examined using composting as a process parameter analysis. The research concludes: Potential production of compost produced by UPS is quite high which is 27.57 tons per day. At the same time,the potential oforganic waste that can be reduced was 213.5 m3 per day, equivalent to 5% of waste generation perdayin the city of Depok. However, compared to its potential, the existing compost production is only 5,099 tonnes perday and existing organic waste processed is 40.85 m3 pe rday, which is equivalent to 20% of the existing potential. Hence, the existing compost productionis still can be improved, through the efforts of optimizing the potential of UPS. Until now, there is no independent UPS. Community participation is still limited only to efforts to bring and collect garbage,aside from being the labor and management coordinatorat UPS. Keywords: community-based waste management district scale, waste management units,composting, community participation.

Abstract

Komplek Pelabuhan Perikanan Samudera (PPS) Bungus merupakan kawasan pelabuhan perikanan terpadu klas Samudera yang berbatasan dengan laut (Selat Mentawai) dan dilalui sungai kecil dengan area persawahan disekitarnya. Terdapat beberapa fasilitas di komplek PPS Bungus yaitu pelabuhan perikanan, pengawasan perairan, penelitian, industri pengolahan perikanan, permukiman dan lain-lain. Beragam kegiatan yang ada tentu berdampak pada perairan yang ada. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui status air berdasarkan metode indeks golongan air. Hasil analisa berdasarkan PP No.82 Tahun 2001 yang dilakukan terhadap golongan air di muara sungai dan outlet menunjukkan bahwa kondisi perairan termasuk Klas IV atau untuk pertanian dan industri, sedangkan di sekitar dermaga, perairan termasuk Klas III, untuk perikanan. Kelas indeks air berdasarkan Kepmen LH No.115 Tahun 2003 menunjukkan bahwa muara sungai, outlet dan dermaga berstatus tidak tercemar. Hasil analisa terhadap perairan untuk Klas IV menunjukkan indeks 0,780 di muara sungai dan 0,712 di outlet, sedangkan di dermaga menunjukkan indeks 0,794 atau Klas III. Beberapa parameter air seperti turbiditas, BOD dan Cd di muara dan outlet sedikit melebihi baku mutu namun masih dalam batas toleransi (Kepmen LH No.51 Tahun 2004). Ditinjau dari segi kualitas air terhadap aktivitas industri berdasarkan Permen Lingkungan Hidup No.3 Tahun 2010 tentang baku mutu air limbah di kawasan industri (outlet) untuk parameter COD, pH, TSS, Selenium dan Tembaga menunjukkan hasil sesuai baku mutu.

Abstract

The experiments were conducted in the Environmental Engineering laboratory, Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia on samples provided by Redland Shire Council Waterworks. The result showed that ozonation has positive effect towards alum dosages as a coagulant. Ozone dosages were 2.86 ppm, 6.25 ppm, and 11.22 ppm, while alum dosages were 5 ppm, 10 ppm, and 15 ppm. Ca(OH)2 was utilized as pH regulator with the dosages in the range of 4 ppm – 12 ppm. Effects of ozonation on coagulant dosages were measured by color level expressed in Pt-Co units. Maximum color removal was 87% and 89% determined spectrophotometrically with the wavelength of 360 nm and 400 nm respectively.

Abstract

Eco – engineering without civil’s construction design for the Siak riverside’s protection can be applied at the part of river has riverside’s weak damaged. The riverside’s protection system with eco – engineering without civil’s construction as the effort to make stronger the riverside with vegetation components. The used of local vegetation is the best choice for eco – engineering system. The identification of vegetation on the Siak river’s corridor as long as desa Merempan Hilir to choose the plants to make the eco – engineering withoutcivil construction’s design has been done. Some kind of plants have been choosen i.e :rumput teki (Cyperus rotundus), rumput kumpai (Hymenachne acutigluma) rumput akar wangi (Vetiveria zizanioides), karangkunan (Ipomea carnea), bambu kuning (Bambusa vulgaris), pandan (Pandanus, sp), bintaro (Cerbera manghas), rengas (Gluta renghas),kempas (Koompassia malaccensis), jawi – jawi (Ficus, sp) and meranti (Shorea, sp).Key words : desain eko – engineering tanpa turap, perlindungan tebing, tanaman lokal

Abstract

Recycling used battery to collect lead (Plumbum) have been executed by communities. This practice has been accepted for generations, and they have not accomplished scientific assessments yet, particularly in term of environmental aspect. In order to create synergy between potential economic and prevent environmental impact of this performance, therefore it is absolutely necessary to manage lead recycling from battery activities. Using appropriate technology could also reduce air pollution of lead dust (Pb particulate) andexcess air.

Abstract

Wawonii ethnic represent the majority groups and ethnic origin dwelling Wawoniiisland, Southeast Sulawesi. In their traditional life, this ethnic has own mannersand customs for managing natural resources. Local knowledge research’s aboutenvironment ecosystem of owned Wawonii ethnic have been carried out since2003 to 2006. Several countryside of Wawolaa, Lansilowo, Lampeapi, Bobolioand Dompo-dompo Jaya have been visited during this study. At least 6 kindsenvironment sets have been identified, manely “kura eya” primary forest, “lalibata” secondary forest, “anantalu” brushes, “laro wita” field, “laro le” grasslandand “kapo” village. Although there local knowledge have a lot of change, howeverit still remain their wisdom and become the guidance in their daily activities.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to understand the performance of microbial degradation activities in textile wastewater treatment unit. Result of BOD, COD, DO and microbial measurement indicated that DO concentration in activated sludge wastewater treatment unit was < 0.5 mg/L, ratio of BOD and COD was >1.99 and microbial density was around 1 x 107 ind/mL. Based on parameter measured, firstly, the DO concentration is not enough for biodegradation process but this condition still work for biofloculation process; secondly, the BOD and COD ratio is indicating that wastewater compound could not fully degrade, eventhough the microbial density in the wastewater unit is in normal number.

Abstract

Early sorting process in composting municipal solid waste is labour intensive, so that the production cost is high. This research is carried out to know how the quality of the compost product and the characteristic of composting process if the early sorting is not done. The research result shows that without early sorting composting process has been done well, similar or not different significantly to the process with early sorting and has good quality. The positive result of this research is to increase the efficiency of the worker or reduce the production cost of manufacturing compost, because the process in making heap can increase from 1 m3 / person / day to 3 m3 / person / day. Key Words: Compost, composing,municipal solid waste, sorting

Abstract

This study is designed to identify dimension of environmental management system that influence of cleaner production’s strategy accept and implementation at natural rubber industry, especially in crumb rubber industry. Factor Analysis technic with Principal Component is aplicated to extract that dimension, while correlation analysis is using to inference the influence that dimension with cleaner production performance. Based of existing condition, deviation of cleaner production performance from thecrumb rubber corporate’s enough big. Percentage of waste solid range 3 – 11 %, the corporate don’t treatment that waste because almost of waste solid use for landfill. Treatment of unpleasant odour from crumb rubber industry, i.e.: with scrubber at the smokestack after drying process, reengineering of pre-drying process, spray of volatile oil, and soak bokar with liquid smoke. Alternatives for waste water treatment i.e.: activated sludge system, chemical system, and aeration system.Principal Component analysis results 13 dimension, namely: internal communication, evaluation tools, environmental benefit, employee ability, professional team, incentive system, cleaner production centre, community consultation, regulation, operational policy, environmental investment, green consumer, and environment requisite. The correlation of that dimension with cleaner production performance at natural rubber industry is not good (rs < 0,5). The dimension has significant correlation are professional team, environment requisite, internal communication, evaluation tools, regulation, incentive system, and employee ability; while the others is not significant.
