Jurnal Studi Perikanan Berkelanjutan (JSPB) is a national scientific journal focused on research and innovation in the field of sustainable fisheries. The journal aims to serve as a platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to advance the science and technology that support the sustainable management of fishery resources. Abstract

Indonesia, as the largest archipelago in the world, has a vast potential for fisheries resources, with a coastline stretching over 81,000 kilometers and waters rich in marine biodiversity. The fisheries sector plays a vital role in national food security and is also a source of income for millions of people relying on fishing, aquaculture, and fish processing activities. However, the sustainability of the fisheries sector faces serious challenges, including overexploitation, marine habitat degradation, and inefficiencies in the supply chain, leading to economic and environmental losses. This literature review aims to synthesize recent academic literature on sustainable fishery supply chains in Indonesia, focusing on regulatory and public policy aspects, quota-based resource management strategies, supply chain optimization in the downstream sector, and multi-stakeholder coordination through the Pentahelix model. The review shows that the integration of quota-based policies, the application of Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM), and coordination among Pentahelix stakeholders are three key pillars that must be implemented simultaneously to achieve the sustainability of Indonesia's fisheries sector. This study is expected to provide practical recommendations for policymakers, academics, and practitioners in designing a fishery supply chain system that is not only economically efficient but also socially equitable and environmentally sustainable.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the marketing system of barracuda fish pempek at Dapur Makassar, a small-scale fisheries-based enterprise located in Makassar City. The research focuses on identifying marketing channels, calculating marketing margins, and evaluating marketing efficiency. A case study method was applied using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Primary data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation involving the business owner and resellers, while secondary data were obtained from relevant literature and institutional reports. The findings show that Dapur Makassar utilizes two marketing channels: direct sales from producer to consumers and indirect sales through resellers. The direct channel incurs lower marketing costs (Rp 595.7) compared to the reseller channel (Rp 1,716.7). However, reseller distribution expands market reach beyond Makassar to other regions such as Kendari, Palu, Kalimantan, and Java. The marketing margin in the reseller channel is Rp 10,000 per unit (buying price Rp 25,000 and selling price Rp 35,000. This study concludes that combining direct marketing with organized reseller networks and digital marketing strategies can improve both efficiency and competitiveness of fisheries-based SMEs.

Abstract

Small pelagic fisheries are highly sensitive to oceanographic variability, particularly sea surface temperature (SST) and primary productivity. The Banda Sea, located in eastern Indonesia, represents one of the country’s most productive yet understudied pelagic fishing grounds. This study examines the relationship between satellite-derived SST and chlorophyll-a concentration and the catch variability of Decapterus spp. in the Banda Sea. Monthly fisheries landing data from Banda Fishing Port in 2024 were integrated with Aqua MODIS Level 3–4 SST and chlorophyll-a products using spatial analysis and multiple linear regression. SST ranged from 25.3 to 33.6 °C, while chlorophyll-a concentrations varied between 0.04 and 13.78 mg.m-³, exhibiting strong seasonal patterns. The highest Decapterus catch (740,374 kg) occurred during the first transition season, coinciding with moderate SST and elevated chlorophyll-a levels. Regression analysis revealed strong correlations between catch and SST (r = 0.778) and chlorophyll-a (r = 0.775), indicating a significant influence of oceanographic conditions on fish availability. This study provides one of the first quantitative assessments linking satellite-derived environmental variability to small pelagic fisheries in the Banda Sea. The findings highlight the potential application of satellite-based monitoring to support ecosystem-based and climate-adaptive fisheries management in tropical marine environments.
