Abstract

This study aims to develop a web-based guidance and counseling information system for students at SMAN 5 Pematang Siantar. The study uses the 4D development model, which consists of the define, design, development, and disseminate stages. The subjects in the product trial consisted of 30 students, one media design expert, one practitioner (counseling teacher), and one counseling teacher as the questionnaire respondent. The instruments used included an expert validation sheet, a teacher response questionnaire, and a student response questionnaire. The validation results showed a score of 92% from the design expert, 87% from the practitioner, 88% from the guidance counselor, and 89.4% from the student response, all of which were in the “very feasible” category. The response questionnaire was also tested for validity using the Pearson correlation technique to ensure the quality of the items. The developed system was assessed as effective in supporting the implementation of guidance and counseling services in schools, such as scheduling, individual and group consultations, and career services. This application contributes to ease of access, service effectiveness, and increased student participation in digital-based guidance and counseling services. In addition, this system also has the potential to be implemented more widely in other schools as an adaptive guidance and counseling service innovation in line with developments in educational technology.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a valid and reliable instrument to measure the role of parents as mentors, motivators, and facilitators in supporting the academic achievement of 11th-grade students at SMAN 10 Takengon. Parental involvement is widely recognized as a crucial factor influencing students’ learning outcomes, particularly during adolescence when academic motivation may decline. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method, adapted from the Borg & Gall model. The development process included theoretical analysis, indicator formulation, expert validation, and limited trials on a student sample. The validation results indicated that the instrument meets content validity standards, while the reliability test yielded a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.87, indicating good internal consistency. This instrument is expected to help schools and researchers identify the extent of parental involvement in academic success through three main dimensions: learning guidance, motivational support, and the provision of learning facilities.

Abstract

Hydrometeorological disasters in Central Aceh in 2025, in the form of flash floods and landslides affecting the districts of Ketol, Kebayakan, and Sekeliling, caused dozens of fatalities, damage to settlements, and the disruption of road access and vital infrastructure; this study aims to analyze the qualitative impacts and mitigation strategies to strengthen the resilience of mountain communities. The method used is a qualitative approach through in‑depth interviews with 20 household heads affected by the disaster, representatives of the local government, and analysis of disaster‑management documents from the Central Aceh Disaster Management Agency and emergency‑response records from November–December 2025. The results indicate that the main impacts include psychological trauma, loss of agricultural livelihoods, and damage to road, bridge, and irrigation infrastructure; meanwhile, strong triggering factors include unstable soil, changes in land use, and an underdeveloped early‑warning system in mountainous areas. The main conclusion states that effective disaster mitigation requires a combination of strengthened local institutions, ecosystem restoration, and active community participation in mitigation planning. The key recommendations include the establishment of disaster‑resilient villages, the relocation of settlements to safer areas, and the enhancement of capacity among local officials and volunteers in dealing with hydrometeorological emergencies in Central Aceh.
