Abstract

Breast milk (ASI) has been known as the best fluid for a baby because of its composition which can protect babies from various infectious diseases. Exclusive breastfeeding is also a performance indicator related to the government's priority program to accelerate stunting reduction. Several studies have shown that one of the factors associated with the incidence of stunting is exclusive breastfeeding. The Covid-19 pandemic, which was hit by the whole world, including Indonesia, has had its own impact, especially health services at the puskesmas, posyandu, and mother's classes. Several health services were adjusted in order to avoid the transmission of Covid-19 to newborns, including exclusive breastfeeding such as counseling and counseling for pregnant women at the delayed posyandu, implementation of early initiation of breastfeeding (IMD), direct breastfeeding and rooming-in for babies. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the situation and conditions in exclusive breastfeeding for babies less than 6 months of course have changed. This research is quantitative with a cross sectional approach which was conducted on 33 mothers who had babies. The results of this study showed that during the pandemic, 93.9% of mothers still tried to give breast milk and as many as 78.8% of mothers gave additional milk.

Abstract

Patients undergoing hemodialysis experience pruritus characterized by itching that interferes with comfort, causing skin damage and infection. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of gentle massage using coconut oil to reduce uremic pruritus in patients with chronic renal failure. The study design was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-post-test design with a control group. The sampling technique used purposive sampling; the number of samples was 36 respondents, with each group having 18 people. The intervention group was given a gentle massage using coconut oil, while the control group was only given coconut oil. The assessment of pruritus used the 5D Itch Scale. Data analysis used a paired t-test with a significance level of α ≤ 0.05. The results showed a decrease in the average degree of uremic pruritus in the intervention group by 3,444 and in the control group by 2,222, with a mean difference of 1.222. The results of the Mann-Whitney U test (p 0.000 < α ≤ 0.05) indicate that there is a difference in the average degree of pruritus. It means that there is an effect of soft massage using Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) on the reduction of uremic pruritus in patients with chronic kidney disease at RSUD Dr. M Yunus Bengkulu. Soft massage using VCO needs to be recommended to reduce itching symptoms due to increased uremia in patients with kidney failure.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic disease that poses a global health burden with a significant increase in cases and complications. Physical activity plays an important role in improving glycemic control and quality of life in T2DM patients. This study aims to analyze the role of physical activity on quality of life and glycemic control through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by PRISMA. Articles were searched through the PubMed and ScienceDirect databases using the keywords “Diabetes Mellitus Type 2,” “Physical Activity,” and “Quality of Life.” Of the 178 articles found, 11 met the inclusion criteria (English language, published between 2020 and 2025, full text, and studies on DMT2 patients). Most studies used a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) design. The synthesis results show that aerobic physical activity, resistance training, or a combination of both consistently improves the quality of life and physical function of patients with DMT2. Structured home-based exercise for 12 weeks and community-based and online programs showed significant improvements in physical, psychological, and social domains. In addition, seven of the eleven studies reported a decrease in blood glucose or HbA1c levels after intervention. Programs with supervision, whether in-person or online, provided better compliance and glycemic outcomes. Conclusion, regular physical activity, especially a supervised combination of aerobic and resistance training, effectively improves the quality of life and metabolic control of patients with type 2 diabetes and has the potential to be integrated into primary and community health services.

Abstract

Despite existing health policies and breastfeeding support programmes, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in several areas of Bengkulu City remains low. Contributing factors include pre-lactation feeding, cultural influences, limited knowledge and inadequate access to reliable information. Therefore, a health education strategy that provides continuous access to information for pregnant women is needed to improve literacy about exclusive breastfeeding during pregnancy, using the Android-based KEKASIH digital education programme. This quasi-experimental study involved 70 women in their third trimester of pregnancy, who were divided into two groups: an intervention group, who received exclusive breastfeeding education through the KEKASIH Android application; and a control group, who received conventional antenatal education. Exclusive breastfeeding literacy was measured before and after the intervention using a structured questionnaire. The results showed a significant increase in literacy in both groups. However, the intervention group demonstrated a greater average increase (mean difference: 4.49; p = 0.00) than the control group (mean difference: 3.91; p = 0.00). While there was no significant difference in effectiveness between the two methods based on the Mann-Whitney test (p = 0.15), digital education demonstrated a greater improvement in breastfeeding literacy. These findings suggest that the KEKASIH Android application can be used as an effective strategy for improving breastfeeding literacy among pregnant women.

Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, including in Indonesia, largely due to diagnostic challenges such as overlapping symptoms, inaccurate interpretation of test results, and delayed detection linked to socioeconomic limitations and invasive diagnostic methods. To address these issues, this study aims to develop PrediCard, a web-based diagnostic and screening tool integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) through machine learning algorithms. The research employed a narrative review design, gathering data from databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and ResearchGate, followed by descriptive and critical appraisal analysis to design a low-fidelity prototype of the website. The conceptual framework utilizes both pre-existing clinical data from official cardiology guidelines and real patient data input. Algorithms such as decision trees, K-nearest neighbors (KNN), and K-means clustering process these data to produce diagnostic predictions and personalized lifestyle recommendations. A strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats (SWOT) analysis revealed that this innovation exerts significant potential for enhancing diagnostic accuracy, promoting early detection, and expanding screening accessibility, though challenges remain regarding internet access and the need for clinical validation. The findings demonstrate that integrating AI into digital diagnostic tools like PrediCard can support medical professionals in confirming diagnoses while enabling high-risk individuals to conduct self-screening efficiently. Ultimately, this innovation is expected to reduce CVD morbidity and mortality rates, improve patient outcomes, and advance progress toward Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in health. Further clinical trials and government support for internet infrastructure are required for practical implementation.
