Abstract

The Bhagavad Gita, as one of the sacred texts in Hinduism, not only contains theological and spiritual teachings, but also contains universal values relevant to the challenges of modern life, including in the fields of leadership and business ethics. In the context of globalization and business dynamics filled with competitive pressures, exploring the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita is important to find an ethical and spiritual basis in leadership practices and business decision-making. This study aims to examine the relevance of the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita to spiritual leadership and modern business ethics, by emphasizing the principles of dharma, karma yoga, balance, and moral integrity as universal guidelines. The research method used is library research with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained through analysis of the primary texts of the Bhagavad Gita, secondary literature in the form of commentaries and academic studies, and previous research from both international and local contexts in Indonesia. The analysis was conducted using a hermeneutic approach to explore philosophical meanings, and a thematic analysis to connect the Gita's teachings with contemporary concepts of spiritual leadership and business ethics. The research findings show that the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita provide a philosophical foundation for service-oriented leadership (seva), sincerity in work without attachment to results (nishkama karma), self-control (samyama), and decision-making based on dharma and universal truth. These values align with the modern spiritual leadership paradigm that emphasizes integrity, self-awareness, and sustainability. Furthermore, in the context of business ethics, the Bhagavad Gita emphasizes the importance of justice, honesty, and social responsibility, which are highly relevant to sustainable business practices. This study confirms that the Bhagavad Gita can be used as a source of inspiration in building spiritual leadership and modern business ethics that are not only oriented towards material gain, but also towards moral, social, and spiritual sustainability.

Abstract

Abstract

Tradition Eitheris one of the local Islamic cultural heritages that still survives strongly in the Sula Islands, North Maluku, especially Yes, in Umaloya Village. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Walima tradition while analyzing the social and cultural values contained within it using a traditional perspective.Anthony Giddens’ structuration theoryThis research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and field documentation. The research results show that Walima is not merely a religious ritual, but also a social practice that fosters solidarity, strengthens mutual cooperation, and reinforces the cultural identity of the community. Within the framework of structuration theory, Walima is understood as the result of dialectical reproduction.between agents (community actors) and structures (norms, values, and traditions), which are continuously updated to follow social changes. In addition, Walima functions as a form ofnon-formal social regulationThe traditions that govern social relations in society have a similar power to formal rules in managing social interactions. However, their existence is now faced with the challenges of modernization and changing values among the younger generation. This research emphasizes the need for efforts to preserve local traditions as social capital to strengthen community cohesion amidst the rapid flow of globalization.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how socio-cultural factors influence the tendency of housewives to shop on TikTok Shop, using a case study in Makassar Barat Subdistrict, Ternate City. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the consumption behavior of housewives is not solely influenced by economic factors but also by social and cultural structures that shape their perspectives on digital consumption. Using Anthony Giddens’ structuration theory, this behavior is understood as the result of a dialectical relationship between agency (housewives as social actors) and structure (digital media, social norms, and local economic policies). Furthermore, this study connects field findings with the context of regional policies that have not yet fully adapted to the development of the digital economy, as highlighted by Ibnu (2023) in Analysis of the Implementation of Regional Regulations Concerning Building Licenses. The research also expands the application of the social structuration approach in the digital context, as discussed by Ibnu (2024) in Exploring Political Socialization through the Lens of Giddens’ Structuration Theory. Thus, this study enriches the literature on digital anthropology and provides policy recommendations related to women’s household economic empowerment in the era of the digital creative economy.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of Village Funds as an instrument of community empowerment within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bali Province. Since 2015, the Village Fund has served as a national strategic policy focusing not only on infrastructure development but also on strengthening the social, economic, cultural, and environmental capacities of rural communities. Bali was selected due to its unique dual village structure—administrative (desa dinas) and customary (desa adat) villages—and its economic dependency on the tourism sector. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research combined a survey of 300 beneficiary households across 10 villages with in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and document analysis. Results from multiple linear regression and qualitative analysis show that the Village Fund has a positive and significant effect on community empowerment and the achievement of SDGs. Community participation enhances the impact of the Village Fund on empowerment, while the capacity of village officials increases its effective utilization. Villages such as Penglipuran and Ubud demonstrate significant empowerment outcomes compared to others that remain focused on basic infrastructure. The contribution of the Village Fund aligns with key SDGs, including poverty reduction, decent work, environmental conservation, and food security. The study concludes that the Village Fund acts as a catalyst for social, cultural, and environmental transformation, recommending enhanced capacity building for village officials and community participation toward inclusive sustainable development.

Abstract

This study explores the transformation of the concept of soul-winning in the context of the church's digital missiology in the era of digital transformation. Using a narrative review approach, this study examines the literature on mission theology, digital communication, and the sociology of religion to identify the changing paradigm of Christian mission. The results show that the mission paradigm is shifting from individual conversion to a relational and community approach, where the digital space becomes a strategic arena for participation in Missio Dei. The concepts of digital incarnation and ecclesia digitalis emphasize that the presence of faith in cyberspace is an authentic expression of Christian ministry. This study also identifies challenges such as depersonalization, shallow interactions, and issues of spiritual authority, as well as opportunities to reach digital-native generations and non-traditional contexts. The proposed Digital Missiology Framework provides a theological, strategic, and ethical conceptual framework for churches to develop digital ministries that are transformative and relevant to digital culture.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the communication strategies employed by religious leaders in delivering social and religious messages within the public sphere of Ternate City. Using a phenomenological approach, it investigates how religious figures interpret and enact their communicative roles in a multicultural society. Data were obtained through field observations and in-depth interviews with interfaith religious leaders. The findings indicate that communication strategies are organized around three key dimensions: (1) a dialogical dimension that emphasizes openness, audience sensitivity, and contextual adaptation; (2) a moral–social dimension that integrates religious teachings with contemporary social issues; and (3) a digital dimension that reflects the use of social media and online platforms to extend religious and social outreach. The results further show that the communicative practices of religious leaders constitute a dynamic process of social structure reproduction, aligning with Giddens’ Structuration Theory. In this process, religious leaders act as agents who actively reinterpret and reinforce social values through communicative actions. Overall, this study contributes to public communication scholarship by offering an empirically grounded understanding of religious communication in multicultural contexts. It underscores the strategic role of religious leaders in promoting social cohesion and maintaining communal harmony in modern society.

Abstract

The complexity of social conflict in multicultural societies is increasing due to the high dynamics of ethnicity, religion, and identity politics. In this context, political communication plays a strategic role in determining the direction of conflict escalation and de-escalation. This study analyzes how multicultural political communication strategies can mitigate, manage, and prevent conflict through message adaptation, inclusive framing, cross-cultural dialogue, and trust-building between political actors and community groups. The findings indicate that the effectiveness of political communication depends not only on the quality of the message but also on its alignment with the values, symbols, and local cultural identities that develop within the community. Communication strategies that are insensitive to the cultural context have been shown to increase the risk of misinterpretation and reinforce polarization. Conversely, strategies oriented toward cultural empathy can create a space for constructive dialogue and strengthen social cohesion. This study proposes the development of a theoretical model.Multicultural Political Communication for Conflict Managementas a new framework that can be used to explain how political communication can function as a more effective instrument for conflict management in multicultural societies. These findings make an important contribution to the development of political communication studies and government communication practices.
