Abstract

The debate about the democratic system in Islamic State has not ended. This is because there are Muslim groups that are inclusive in nature who do not want to accept all teachings or conceptions that come from the West, especially regarding the democratic system. This group is known as an Islamist group that applies the principles of formalization of sharia. However, in another spectrum there are Muslim groups who openly accept the democratic system originating from the West. Because for them the democratic and Islamic System are mutually compatible, there is no conflict. By using the library research method, this research wants to find answers to the confusion regarding the existing government system in an Islamic country or a country with a Muslim majority population. Because this government system is important in not changing the Islamic state. Changes that can compete with other countries in the West, which until now have not been able to stand side by side with Islamic countries regarding a good and well-ordered political system.

Abstract

Modern politics, which is of interest to some, has detrimental effects, including on civil society. The main purpose of this research is to determine the impact of modern politics on the subject of research, namely civil society in Indonesia. Through a study of the political khittah of Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama, it is corroborated with the theory of civil society from Muhammad Abdul Fattah Santoso and K.H. Asep Saifuddin Chalim. This research uses a literature study method that collects data in the form of books and scientific journals related to the research theme. This research suggests that the impact of modern politics on civil society is quite diverse, ranging from dynastic politics that is authoritarian and disrupts the stability of democracy, the level of trust in leaders in this case the government decreases, to the emergence of an apathetic and pragmatic paradigm towards politics itself. In addition, social media, which is used as a forum for modern politics, contains a lot of hate speech and discredits other groups, which can change the existence of civil society. Muhammadiyah seeks to reconstruct on the basis of the Denpasar Khittah in 2002 coupled with offering a social contract to the government and reflecting on its attitudes and policies towards politics so far. Meanwhile, Nahdlatul Ulama is based on the 1984 NU Khittah which contains the principles of decision-making in political matters, along with reflecting on its attitudes and policies towards politics from time to time.

Abstract

Syuro has an important role in Islam. As a decision-making mechanism, syuro plays an important role in every aspect of human life. Syuro is also understood as an appreciation of the freedom of expression of human beings in social relations. Therefore, the true syuro in Islam is not always identical to politics. It's just that, as a large part of human life, the role of politics in social life is also very important. As a means of upholding shari'a, politics is considered capable of providing good legal certainty for human social life and also in determining a political leader. Due to these interests, the role of syuro in politics cannot be avoided. Syuro in Islamic politics cannot be directly equated with the practice of deliberation in the current political phenomenon. In addition to the uniqueness of the concept that emphasizes respect for human dignity in terms of his freedom, syuro in Islam places great emphasis on scientific authority, syuro in Islam is also not always identical with the concept of majority rule, because the basis is sharia. So if the majority opinion is contrary to what is in sharia, then the majority opinion is not acceptable.

Abstract

Al Washliyah, as an Islamic civil society, has a perspective on an ethical democracy model that utilizes the maqasid of sharia as a medium for ethical democracy. This study will examine Al Washliyah in the context of an ethical democracy model that utilizes the maqasid of sharia as a medium for ethical democracy. Is there a synthesis of ideas for an Islamic-based ethical democracy model that can be developed through the interpretation of Islamic values? How is Al Washliyah's ethical democracy implemented? This study uses a qualitative approach with field research. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documents. Data were analyzed using triangulation. The theories used are democracy, civil society, and the maqasid of sharia. This study shows that Al Washliyah provides a synthesis of ideas regarding an Islamic-based ethical democracy model through an interpretation of basic Islamic values, especially the concept of maqasid of sharia. This interpretation serves as a foundation for formulating democratic principles that align with Islamic ethics, such as justice, equality, deliberation, and welfare. The implementation of ethical democracy in the context of Al Washliyah has the potential to be carried out through several strategic channels. First, through a broad educational network as a medium for internalizing ethical democracy. Second, through organizational activities that can strengthen the principle of equality. Third, deepening the practice of democracy within organizations as a model for society. Fourth, implementing social control over various public policies. Fifth, engaging in constitutional politics to ensure that political struggles remain within the bounds of Islamic law and ethics.

Abstract

The development of world globalization after the end of the Cold War made many countries in the world adapt to the changes in the existing world constellation. The countries that were most affected were those who supported the Eastern Bloc with communist ideology. Some countries in Asia with communist ideology, such as China, Vietnam, and Laos, have had to face such rapid changes in the world. The conflict between maintaining ideology by adopting the values of globalization is a very important issue. China strives not to be trapped in the entanglement of the globalization of the world by changing the pattern of thinking for the achievement of its economy through economic reform. Economic reform by opening up the economy in welcoming world free trade to take advantage of world trade, but still maintaining communist ideology is the solution for China. China's success in its economic reforms was taken into consideration for Vietnam, its communist ally, to adopt the same steps. With very bad economic conditions after the end of the Vietnam War and its limitations in carrying out reconstruction, real action was greatly needed by Vietnam amid the end of dependence on the Soviet Union. The economic reform movement through "Doi Moi" took effect since 1986 to overcome economic turmoil and efforts to carry out reconstruction reconstruction. The ideology he embraced made it a barrier for the international community to provide assistance to Vietnam. Globalization cannot be rejected because it provides an opportunity for the development and economic growth of a country.
