Abstract

This article examines the transformation of traditional institutions in Aceh within the context of the post-conflict revival of adat-based village governance and the implementation of special autonomy. The main focus is to understand how traditional institutions are incorporated into modern governance systems, and to what extent they are able to maintain their symbolic authority and capacity for social mobilization amid the expansion of village bureaucracy. This research employs a qualitative method, conducted in two villages in Langsa City, namely Gampong Kuala Langsa and Gampong Meurandeh Dayah. The findings show that adat norms and bureaucratic logic coexist in village governance, but their relationship is not always harmonious. While village officials work within the framework of state regulations, adat institutions continue to play a vital role in social life, including conflict resolution, religious activities, and collective rituals. This demonstrates that adat institutions persist not only as symbolic traditions but also as active actors in shaping hybrid forms of local governance. These findings reaffirm the importance of understanding the state as a socially constructed entity, embedded in practices and symbols that remain vibrant at the local level.

Abstract

Gig economy has recently circling in the society in the digital era. It has been a result of risk society as described by Beck in his book. Though researches have been made by Standing, Stephany dan Prassl to address the various risk exposed by it onto society, there is little evidence society would not expose to its excesses. This writing is made as part of research in gig economy that argues the race to the bottom of gig economy has contributed to society. The findings include how exploitation, job insecurity, mental and health crisis are generated from informalisation of works in gig mode of economy. The most essential thing is how Islam offer the new mode of economy based on its fundamental views of social welfare and individual interest based on moral economy as a solution to the race of the bottom occurring in gig economy.

Abstract

The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) is an obstacle that disrupts Qatar's relations with its neighbors in the Gulf, especially Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Qatar's different position with the fellow Gulf countries towards Muslim Brotherhood became one of the problems that caused the estrangement of the relationship. The dispute led to demands that Qatar ends its support for the Muslim Brotherhood. However, Qatar remains unmoved in maintaining good relations with the Muslim Brotherhood. This article aims to answer why Qatar retains its relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood amid the severing of diplomatic ties from fellow Gulf countries. This research uses qualitative research methods with library studies. This study uses secondary data obtained from books, journals, and the internet, which are then interpreted and concluded utilizing the concept of nested power. This article finds that Qatar maintains its relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood to maintain national political stability by accommodating the Muslim Brotherhood in government circles, especially in education and da'wah. Meanwhile, Qatar utilizes the global MB network at the regional and international levels to lift Qatar's branding as an essential actor in the Muslim world and the Globe.

Abstract

This paper highlights one concrete example of how the power of Hoaxes can provide an extra-ordinary significant impact to the country.  The term of the Trojan Horse Affairs make this issue more interesting for the author to discuss. The term of Trojan Horse generally used in technological science to describe the existence of the malware or viruses activity, whos hiding in suspicious forms and then damage the core systems on a computer or steal its data. The damage caused by the Trojan Horse is usually very severe (Trojan Horses, 2019).In the study of international relations, the term of Trojan Horse was also recently introduced to defined the “terrorist operations”. This is because, terrorist operations are also use hidden movements on their actions to attack or stealing data which resulted in fatal damage. For that kind of reason, in the study of international relations, the term of Trojan Horse is also synonymous with serious crime, which are usually carried out by the opponents, enemies, or international criminal syndicate (Trojan Horses, 2019).Tracing the origin history the use of the term of The Trojan Horse will remind back with the Ancient Greek War, between the Achaena (Greek) and Trojan people. This history become phenomenal after the Achaena win the war with their clever trick of smuggling its soldier into an unsuspecting wooden horse statue, soon called “The Trojan Horse”statue. The Trojan people immediately got killed in the night, when their soldiers were unaware and sleeping. The Achenian soldiers came out from their hiding place and then ended this storys (Mogra, n.d.).

Abstract

The Indonesian public, and even the world, were shocked by numerous serious ethical violations during the 2024 general elections, threatening Indonesia’s democracy. Although constitutionally and in existing laws and regulations, there is no legitimate or convincing error in the decisions taken by the leaders of this republic, they have deliberately created ethical problems in the life of the nation and state. Some cases that can be taken generally in Indonesia during the 2024 general elections are Constitutional Court Decision Number 90/PUU-XXI/2023 and the partisanship of state leaders in the presidential and vice-presidential elections. Both issues have shaken the Indonesian people and the international community. Indonesia’s democratic values are being questioned due to the country’s lack of ethical and moral awareness. This article discusses how ethical and moral awareness must be prioritized and mainstreamed in the standards of politics and leadership in Indonesia. This article is a literature study employing a descriptive-analytical method, drawing on reliable sources such as journal articles, newspapers, news, legal decisions, books, and other relevant reading materials.
