Abstract

The government has demonstrated significant efforts to improve taxpayer compliance. However, the compliance level of MSME taxpayers remains relatively low despite the increasing number of taxpayers and tax revenue. This study aims to analyze the influence of tax regulation understanding, taxpayer awareness, and tax socialization on MSME taxpayer compliance in the West Denpasar area. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that both tax regulation understanding and taxpayer awareness have a positive and significant effect on MSME taxpayer compliance. Tax socialization also has a positive and significant influence, although its effectiveness depends on the media and delivery methods used. These findings emphasize the importance of continuous education and outreach efforts to enhance tax compliance in the MSME sector. This study is expected to contribute to tax authorities in formulating strategies to improve taxpayer compliance through integrated internal and external approaches.

Abstract

The rapid growth of modern markets in Badung Regency has led to a shift in consumer preferences from traditional markets to modern ones. This change is influenced by various factors related to social, economic, and lifestyle conditions. This study aims to examine the effect of price, income, service quality, promotion, and location on consumer shopping interest in both traditional and modern markets, both simultaneously and partially. The data used in this study consists of both primary and secondary data obtained through interviews with 100 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using questionnaires, and the analytical method employed was multiple linear regression. The results of the study indicate that the variables of price, income, service quality, promotion, and location simultaneously have a significant influence on consumer shopping interest. Partially, each of the five variables also has a positive effect on consumer preference. These findings suggest that the more favorable consumers perceive price, income, service quality, promotion, and location, the greater their tendency to choose shopping venues that align with their preferences. Consumers with specific income levels and needs tend to choose shopping places they find most beneficial, whether traditional or modern markets. This study is expected to serve as a reference for developing marketing strategies and enhancing the competitiveness of traditional markets amid the growing dominance of modern markets.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the roles of stakeholders in supporting the sustainability of red rice farming in Jatiluwih Village, Tabanan Regency, Bali, which is recognized as a sustainable agricultural area through the Subak system acknowledged by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage. The research adopts a descriptive quantitative approach using a survey method involving six main actors: farmers, the Subak organization, the agricultural office, the private sector, the traditional village (desa adat), and the Subak cooperative. Analysis was conducted using the MACTOR method to identify the influence and relationships among stakeholders and their alignment with sustainability goals in farming practices. The results show that active stakeholder involvement plays a significant role in supporting the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of red rice farming systems. Collaboration among these actors contributes to increased farmers’ income, environmental conservation, and the strengthening of local cultural values. Continuous synergy between the government, traditional communities, and the private sector is required to preserve the traditional agricultural system while improving the welfare of the local population.

Abstract

Regional Public Company Tirta Tohlangkir is currently experiencing difficulties in fostering optimal employee engagement, which stem from factors such as excessive workloads, limited participation in organizational decision-making, and a workplace atmosphere that impedes productivity. This study seeks to examine the mediating function of job satisfaction in the relationship between work-life balance and employee engagement within the organization. Employing a purposive sampling method, the study involved 92 employees as research participants. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and in-depth interviews, then analyzed using both descriptive statistics and inferential analysis through Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS).The empirical results reveal that work-life balance significantly and positively influences employee engagement. Furthermore, a well-maintained work-life balance also enhances job satisfaction, which in turn significantly boosts employee engagement. The analysis confirms that job satisfaction plays a mediating role in the linkage between work-life balance and employee engagement. From a theoretical standpoint, this research supports the relevance of social exchange theory in the field of organizational behavior. Practically, the findings provide valuable insights for developing strategies to improve employee engagement, particularly through enhancing job satisfaction and achieving a better balance between professional and personal life.

Abstract

The participation and involvement of all segments of Indonesian society, regardless of social group, are essential for the smooth implementation of national development. Over time, married women are no longer confined to the role of housewives but have also begun contributing to household income by entering the labor market. This study aims to: (1) analyze the simultaneous effect of age, marital status, number of dependents, and non-labor income on the working hours of female traders at Kumbasari Market, Denpasar City; and (2) analyze the partial effect of these variables on their working hours. The study involved a population of 341 traders, from which 77 respondents were selected using a non-probability sampling technique with an accidental sampling method. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and a semi-log non-linear regression model. The findings reveal that: (1) age, marital status, number of dependents, and non-labor income simultaneously influence the working hours of female traders; (2) age and non-labor income have a negative partial effect; (3) the number of dependents has a positive partial effect; and (4) married female traders tend to work fewer hours on average compared to those who are unmarried. Based on these results, it is recommended that female traders pay more attention to their health by adopting a healthy lifestyle, managing rest time proportionally, and utilizing free health check-up facilities.

Abstract

Expenditure on medicines is one of the largest components of healthcare costs in Indonesia. However, a proportion of medicines obtained by the community are not used to their full extent, either due to changes in therapy, side effects, non-compliance, or expiry. This phenomenon results in significant economic losses, with an average of 18-32% of the total value of medicines stored in households being unused or expired. Studies in several cities such as Yogyakarta, Kudus, and East Banjarmasin show that the economic value of unused medicines per household ranges from Rp3,348 to Rp13,698, and if extrapolated nationally, the potential loss could reach hundreds of millions of rupiah. In addition to wasting money, unused medicines also increase health risks and environmental pollution. Management efforts that have been made include public education through the DAGUSIBU programme, medicine take-back, as well as strengthening regulations and the role of pharmacists, but their implementation still faces challenges in coverage and effectiveness. Cross-sector collaboration is needed to strengthen education, improve the collection system of leftover medicines, and increase supervision of pharmaceutical waste disposal to reduce economic losses and improve public health.

Abstract

Compliance of Individual Taxpayers (WPOP) is a crucial aspect in optimizing state revenue through the taxation sector. The low level of individual taxpayer compliance at the Singaraja Primary Tax Office (KPP Pratama Singaraja), which ranks fourth lowest in the Bali region, highlights the need to evaluate the influencing factors. This study aims to analyze the effect of tax knowledge and tax audits on individual taxpayer compliance. Data were obtained through a survey of 100 taxpayers selected using purposive sampling and analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that tax knowledge and tax audits have a positive and significant effect on individual taxpayer compliance. These findings underscore the importance of improving taxpayer education and fiscal supervision to encourage more optimal tax compliance.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the role of Muslim Generation Z in promoting the development of halal entrepreneurship through the utilization of social media as the primary platform for promotion, education, and transactions. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature review method, gathering data from various relevant sources to gain a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon under study. The findings indicate that Generation Z, as digital natives, actively utilize digital platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and WhatsApp to promote halal products, educate consumers, and facilitate online transactions. However, limited understanding of Sharia principles and suboptimal digital infrastructure remain significant challenges that need to be addressed. A holistic strategy is required to strengthen the role of Generation Z in halal entrepreneurship, which includes enhancing Sharia and digital literacy, developing a digital ecosystem aligned with Sharia principles, and fostering cross-sector collaboration among entrepreneurs, government, and educational institutions. This study offers a new perspective on the involvement of Muslim Generation Z in the halal entrepreneurship ecosystem through social media, a topic that has been rarely explored in depth. The focus on digitalization by young Muslims within a Sharia-compliant context represents a significant contribution to the literature on halal entrepreneurship in the digital transformation era.
