Abstract

This study aims to analyse the economic factors that influence the growth of the pharmaceutical industry and its impact on employment in Indonesia through a literature review study. The pharmaceutical industry is one of the strategic sectors that continues to grow in line with the increasing public need for health products and government policy support. The study results show that investment, government policies, exchange rate fluctuations, dependence on imported raw materials, and technological innovation are the main economic factors that influence the growth of the national pharmaceutical industry. The growth of this sector has a positive impact on labour absorption, both directly in production and indirectly through supporting sectors such as distribution and research. However, challenges related to the quality of human resources and raw material independence still need to be overcome so that the pharmaceutical industry can contribute more optimally to the economy and job creation in the future.

Abstract

The pharmaceutical industry is one of the strategic sectors in economic development and health in Indonesia. As the fourth largest contributor among non-oil and gas manufacturing industries, the pharmaceutical industry has contributed significantly to economic growth, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, where the sector's growth remained positive amid the national economic contraction. This contribution can be seen from the added value generated, increased investment, and job creation that continues to grow every year. In addition, the growth of the pharmaceutical industry in Indonesia is also influenced by an increase in population, an increase in life expectancy, and changes in people's behaviour that are increasingly aware of the importance of health. In terms of public health, the pharmaceutical industry plays an important role in providing quality, safe, and affordable medicines that support wider access to health services, including in government priority programmes such as the National Health Insurance (JKN). The availability of quality pharmaceutical products is also a key element in supporting the prevention and control of various diseases, as well as improving the quality of life and life expectancy of the Indonesian population. Innovation and technological adaptation carried out by the national pharmaceutical industry have helped drive production efficiency, expand the domestic market, and strengthen competitiveness at the regional level. However, the national pharmaceutical industry still faces major challenges, including dependence on imported raw materials, competition from global pharmaceutical products, production efficiency, and the need to strengthen sustainable research and development (R&D). Therefore, synergy between the government, industry players, and other stakeholders is needed to strengthen competitiveness and enlarge opportunities for the development of the pharmaceutical industry as a pillar of economic growth as well as improving public health in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to describe training and development, job satisfaction, and organisational commitment to employee performance. Employee performance is a crucial factor that determines the success of an organisation. Therefore, understanding the factors that influence it is important in human resource management. The method used in this research is a literature review, by collecting and reviewing various relevant literature, scientific journals, and previous research results. The results of the study show that employee training and development contribute significantly to improving work ability and effectiveness. Meanwhile, job satisfaction affects employee motivation, loyalty and morale. On the other hand, organisational commitment strengthens employees' psychological attachment to the place where they work, thus encouraging optimal performance. In conclusion, the three variables are interrelated and together make an important contribution to improving employee performance. Organisations need to establish an integrated human resource strategy to maximise the potential of employees as the company's main asset.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of audit quality, profitability, audit committee size, and audit committee expertise in accounting and finance on earnings management in transportation and logistics companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2019–2023 period. Earnings management is measured using discretionary accruals based on the Modified Jones Model. Audit quality is proxied by affiliation with Big Four public accounting firms, profitability is measured using Return on Assets (ROA), audit committee size is measured by the number of members, and audit committee expertise is assessed by the proportion of members with backgrounds in accounting and finance. This research employs a quantitative method with an associative approach. The sample consists of 158 firm-year observations selected through purposive sampling. Data were obtained from annual reports available on the official IDX website and company websites, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis. Hypothesis testing was conducted using F-tests and t-tests to determine the simultaneous and partial effects of each independent variable on earnings management. The results indicate that audit quality, profitability, and audit committee size have no significant effect on earnings management. However, audit committee expertise in accounting and finance has a significant negative effect on earnings management. These findings highlight the importance of professional competence within the audit committee in enhancing financial oversight and preventing earnings manipulation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the exchange rate, inflation rate, and interest rate on Indonesia's textile export volume to the United States during the quarterly period from 2015 to 2024. The selection of variables is based on the significant role of macroeconomic factors in national export performance, particularly in the textile sector, which is one of Indonesia's leading non-oil and gas export commodities. The analytical method employed is multiple linear regression to test the relationship between these variables and textile export volume. The findings reveal that the exchange rate has a positive and significant effect on Indonesia's textile exports to the United States, indicating that rupiah depreciation encourages textile export growth. Inflation shows a positive but statistically insignificant effect, suggesting that domestic price increases do not have a strong statistical impact on exports. Meanwhile, the interest rate has a negative and significant effect, indicating that rising interest rates can hinder export activity by increasing business financing costs.

Abstract

Firm value reflects a company's past performance, current condition, and future prospects. A high firm value indicates not only investor confidence in the company’s financial performance but also the total assets owned by the company, serving as a reflection of shareholder wealth. Firm value can be influenced by several factors, including dividend policy, capital structure, and profitability. This study aims to examine the influence of dividend policy, capital structure, and profitability on firm value. The research was conducted on companies listed consecutively in the Consumer Non-Cyclicals sector on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2021–2023 period and that consistently distributed dividends throughout the same period. The study population consisted of 40 companies. The sampling technique employed was probability sampling using the simple random sampling method. The sample size was determined using Slovin’s formula, resulting in 36 companies. With an observation period of three years, the total number of observations was 108. The statistical analysis results indicate that dividend policy, capital structure, and profitability have a positive and significant effect on firm value.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of tax burden and tunneling incentive on transfer pricing practices in multinational companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2019–2023 period. The study is based on 163 observations from 34 multinational companies selected using purposive sampling. Transfer pricing is measured using the ratio of total related party transactions (RPTAL), while the tax burden is proxied by the effective tax rate (ETR), and tunneling incentive is proxied by ultimate ownership. This study applies stakeholder theory to explain the influence of external pressure from stakeholders, particularly tax authorities, on corporate policies regarding transfer pricing. Panel data regression analysis is conducted using the random effect model (REM). The results show that the tax burden has a significant effect on transfer pricing, indicating that the higher the tax burden, the greater the tendency for companies to engage in transfer pricing. Meanwhile, the tunneling incentive has no effect on transfer pricing, suggesting that large ownership stakes do not necessarily encourage transfer pricing practices in multinational companies. Companies’ responses to fiscal pressure indicate a tendency to optimize through transfer pricing strategies to minimize tax burdens and maintain financial performance. Nevertheless, such decisions still take into account trust, governance, and oversight from other stakeholders.

Abstract

The growing trend of a healthy lifestyle has led many people around the world to adopt healthier eating habits. Amidst the increasingly intense competition in the culinary industry, Café Loka has positioned itself as a dining destination offering healthy food as its main menu attraction. This study aims to explain the mediating role of consumer attitude in the relationship between price perception and food safety concern toward purchase intention of healthy food. The research was conducted in Gianyar Regency with a sample of 112 respondents, using questionnaires distributed offline. The sample was selected using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using path analysis with SPSS 25.0. The results showed that price perception has a negative and significant effect on purchase intention, while food safety concern has a positive and significant effect on purchase intention. Both price perception and food safety concern also have a positive and significant effect on consumer attitude, and consumer attitude positively and significantly affects purchase intention. Moreover, consumer attitude mediates the effect of price perception and food safety concern on purchase intention. The implication of this research is that Café Loka needs to strengthen consumers’ positive perception of pricing and maintain the quality of healthy food offered in order to shape positive consumer attitudes and encourage purchase intention.
