Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that remains a major challenge in improving the quality of human resources in Indonesia. This condition not only impacts children's physical growth but also their cognitive, social, and emotional development. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of early detection of childhood growth and development in stunting prevention efforts. The study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design in children aged 24–59 months in the working area of Community Health Center X. Data were collected through questionnaires, anthropometric measurements, and observations of early detection implementation in the field. The results indicate that early detection of growth and development plays a crucial role in identifying stunting risks early through height and weight measurements and regular child development checks. Factors such as maternal nutrition during pregnancy, immunization history, environmental sanitation, and family roles significantly contribute to child growth and development outcomes. Stunting prevention efforts must be carried out comprehensively through a multi-sectoral approach involving families, communities, health workers, and the government, particularly in the implementation of the SDIDTK program and the 1000 HPK monitoring. The results of this study are expected to serve as a basis for strengthening early detection programs and increasing public awareness of the importance of stunting prevention from pregnancy.

Abstract

Electronic Medical Records EMR refer to healthcare documents created via a digital platform designed for the administration of medical records. The Community Health Center Management Information System SIMPUS is a structured system designed to furnish data that aids in making informed decisions regarding the administration of community health centers with the objective of reaching established activity goals. All community health centers must establish a community health center information system, which may be conducted either in an electronic or non-electronic manner, and SIMPUS can act as an effective instrument for the execution of the Energy Management Plan RME within community health centers. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of SIMPUS in implementing an electronic medical record system through the application of the HOT-Fit approach at the Pisangan Community Health Center. The research is descriptive in nature and uses quantitative methodology, with data collected through questionnaires administered to 34 officers directly involved with the SIMPUS system using a nonprobability sampling technique and saturated sampling method. The results showed that the effectiveness of SIMPUS utilization in the implementation of electronic medical records was classified as effective across all dimensions, specifically 68.00 percent for human aspects, 64.42 percent for organizational aspects, 67.48 percent for technological aspects, and 72.36 percent for net benefit aspects. Based on the implementation of the electronic medical record system through SIMPUS using the HOT-Fit method at the Pisangan Community Health Center, adequate effectiveness scores were obtained in all aspects. As a suggestion, it is recommended that a SIMPUS authentication system be designed and implemented using a one-person-one-user policy to maintain the confidentiality of medical record data.

Abstract

Systematic Literature Review (SLR) aimed at comprehensively analyzing the antioxidant activity and phytochemical profile of Kombucha , focusing primarily on the impact of substrate variations and fermentation time. Kombucha is recognized as a significant functional fermented beverage, possessing broad health benefits, including antioxidant, antibacterial, and hepatoprotective properties. These biological activities are highly influenced by the bioactive compounds produced during the fermentation process by the SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast), such as polyphenols and flavonoids. The SLR method was chosen for its structured, objective, and comprehensive approach in identifying, evaluating, and synthesizing relevant research evidence. Literature searches were conducted across five academic databases: ScienceDirect, PubMed, Google Scholar, DOAJ, and GARUDA Portal , utilizing structured keywords to gather quantitative data on Phenolic/Flavonoid Content and IC₅₀/DPPH Inhibition values , as well as in vivo evidence concerning its hepatoprotective effects (SGOT/SGPT and Liver Histology). The data analysis seeks to identify bioactive trends , evaluate Kombucha’s effectiveness as a hepatoprotective agent , and pinpoint research gaps , ultimately generating an integrated scientific synthesis to support the development of high-value functional Kombucha products.

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease with the highest global prevalence, reaching 33.1%, and Indonesia ranks second among countries in the South-East Asia region. In DKI Jakarta, based on the 2023 SKI report, the prevalence of physician-diagnosed hypertension reached 12.6%, the highest recorded in the past 15 years, and hypertension accounted for 52% of non-communicable disease–related deaths in 2024. Central Jakarta has the highest prevalence (12.20%), with Senen District reporting the highest subdistrict prevalence (12.50%), predominantly among older adults. This study aims to analyze factors associated with hypertension prevention behaviors among older adults in Senen District. The study employed an analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 13,292 older adults, and a total of 106 respondents were selected using Proportionate Stratified Sampling. Primary data were collected through interviews using structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using chi-square tests and logistic regression. Bivariate analysis demonstrated significant associations between education, knowledge, attitudes, access to healthcare facilities, family support, and support from healthcare workers (p<0.05). Multivariate analysis identified knowledge (OR 10.642), healthcare facilities (OR 5.785), and attitudes (OR 5.101) as variables significantly influencing hypertension prevention behaviors. Knowledge was found to be the dominant variable with the strongest effect. The study recommends strengthening health education and counseling tailored to the educational level of older adults, as well as enhancing continuous support through community health posts (Posyandu) and home visits. Family involvement in supporting preventive practices is also encouraged. Future research is recommended to employ a mixed-methods approach to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of factors influencing hypertension prevention behaviors in older adults.

Abstract

Acute Otitis Media (AOM) is one of the most common pediatric ear infections and may lead to significant complications when not diagnosed and managed appropriately. This literature review aims to summarize current evidence regarding the diagnostic approach and management of AOM. A structured search was conducted through PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, focusing on publications from the last ten years. The diagnosis of AOM is primarily established through clinical symptoms such as otalgia, fever, and irritability, supported by otoscopic findings including middle ear effusion, tympanic membrane erythema, or bulging. Adjunctive tools such as pneumatic otoscopy and tympanometry may improve diagnostic accuracy in selected cases. Management strategies emphasize assessing disease severity to determine the need for antibiotics. Amoxicillin remains the first-line therapy, while a watchful waiting strategy is recommended for mild, uncomplicated cases. Supportive therapy, particularly analgesics, plays a crucial role in minimizing patient discomfort. In recurrent or persistent cases, evaluation of contributing risk factors such as allergic rhinitis, passive smoke exposure, and eustachian tube dysfunction is essential. This review highlights that accurate diagnosis and rational treatment selection are key to preventing complications and reducing recurrence rates in AOM.

Abstract

The efficiency of hospital bed utilization is commonly evaluated using four key performance indicators: Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR), Average Length of Stay (AvLOS), Turn Over Interval (TOI), and Bed Turn Over (BTO). These indicators are then assessed comprehensively through the Barber Johnson Chart to determine overall inpatient service efficiency. Based on the 2024 inpatient service records of Bunda Margonda General Hospital, the BOR reached 91.01%, AvLOS was 3.47 days, TOI was 0.34 days, and BTO was 95.87 times—values that generally fall outside the recommended efficiency thresholds. This study aims to identify the factors contributing to the inefficiency of bed utilization using Barber Johnson indicators throughout 2024. A quantitative analytical approach with a cross-sectional design was employed, utilizing secondary data derived from the annual inpatient census. The analysis compared each indicator with the Barber Johnson standards and examined inefficiency patterns across monthly variations and individual care units. The findings reveal that BOR and BTO were substantially above the optimal range, TOI was lower than the recommended standard, while AvLOS remained within acceptable limits. When plotted on the Barber Johnson Chart, the combined indicators positioned the hospital outside the designated efficiency zone, indicating suboptimal bed utilization performance.

Abstract

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a disease that occurs due to damage to the cartilage tissue that lines the bones, causing the bones to rub against each other during movement. One nursing action to address pain in OA patients is to provide warm lemongrass compresses. This case report aims to determine the effectiveness of applying warm lemongrass compresses in reducing pain levels in osteoarthritis patients. The method used is a case study on OA patients experiencing discomfort due to pain. Warm lemongrass compresses were given three times a day for three days. The instrument used was the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) to measure pain levels. The results of this report show that warm lemongrass compresses for three days successfully reduced pain levels significantly, from a scale of 6 to a scale of 3. Warm lemongrass compresses have been proven to be an effective non-pharmacological therapy in standard nursing care interventions to reduce pain levels in osteoarthritis patients. This intervention can be an additional therapeutic option in the management of OA pain.

Abstract

Breast milk production can be accelerated with non-pharmacological measures, such as oxytocin massage. Oxytocin massage is considered more effective in increasing breast milk production because it stimulates the release of the hormone oxytocin, which is influenced by the thoughts and feelings of postpartum mothers. The purpose of this case report is to determine the effects of oxytocin massage on breast milk production in postpartum mothers at a West Jakarta Hospital. Methods: This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, focusing on case studies. Data were collected through interviews and observations of postpartum mothers. Results indicate that oxytocin massage provides a sense of comfort and relaxation, contributing to increased breast milk production in postpartum mothers. The average increase in breast milk production after oxytocin massage ranged from 8 to 18 ml/cc. Conclusion: Applying oxytocin massage to postpartum mothers for three consecutive days, three times daily, for fifteen minutes each session, has been shown to increase breast milk production in patients.

Abstract

Eclampsia with partial HELLP syndrome in high-risk pregnancies can progress rapidly when early detection through antenatal care is inadequate. We report a 41-year-old G2P1A0 woman who presented at 37 weeks with tonic–clonic seizures, severe hypertension, proteinuria, elevated liver enzymes, and borderline thrombocytopenia, having attended only one antenatal visit at 25 weeks, resulting in missed opportunities for preeclampsia risk screening and aspirin–calcium prophylaxis. Emergency management followed ABCDE stabilization, magnesium sulfate therapy, rapid-acting antihypertensives, intravenous access, NG tube insertion, urinary catheterization, and subsequent emergency cesarean section with Pomeroy tubectomy, yielding a 2690-gram neonate with good adaptation. Despite the severe presentation, timely and guideline-based emergency actions led to favorable maternal and neonatal outcomes. This case highlights the importance of adequate antenatal screening, early recognition of hypertensive disorders, and the need to strengthen preventive strategies in primary care to avoid similar occurrences.
