Abstract

Hotel booking cancellations pose substantial challenges to the hospitality industry, significantly impacting revenue management and operational planning. This study explores the application of machine learning models to predict cancellations, emphasizing model selection, feature importance, and resampling techniques. Among the six classification models evaluated, the combination of XGBoost and SMOTE demonstrated the highest predictive accuracy and consistency. Feature importance analysis and SHAP interpretation identified key predictors, including deposit type (non-refundable), required parking spaces, previous cancellations, and market segment (OTA). Additionally, threshold tuning was examined to balance the trade-off between false positives and false negatives based on business priorities. The results underscore the critical role of resampling methods in addressing class imbalance and the necessity of optimizing classification thresholds for practical deployment. Future research will focus on advanced hyperparameter tuning, alternative resampling strategies, feature selection methods, and ensemble learning approaches to enhance model robustness and interpretability. These findings provide a data-driven foundation for improving cancellation prediction and guiding strategic decision-making in hotel management.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology today has driven significant changes in the banking industry, including in terms of customer service. One innovation that can improve customer experience is an Android-based bank branch mapping application, which allows users to easily find the nearest branch or ATM location. This study aims to develop an Android-based Bank XXX branch mapping application using the Grounded Research method. This method was chosen because it can dig up a deep understanding of user needs and preferences through direct data collection from the field.

Abstract

Data structures are a fundamental conceptin computer science used to store, organize, and mange data within a program or computer system. The selection of the appropriate data structure plays a crucial role in optimizing both time and space efficiency in data processing. Generally, data structures are classified into two main categories: linear and non-linear structures. Linear data structures include arrays, linked lists, stacks, and qeueues, where elements are arranged in a sequential order. Non-linear data structures, on the other hand, include trees and graphs, which organize element in more complex relationship. Each type of data structure has specific characteritics and operations that can impact the performance of aplications, such as searching, insertion, and deletion of data. The choice of the right data structure is essential in algortihm design as it can significantly enhance the efficienty and effectiveness of a system or application.

Abstract

The development of information technology drives the need for quick access to language resources, including the search for antonyms and synonyms in digital dictionaries, especially for students and the general public. However, conventional applications' limited internet access and slow search processes pose significant obstacles. This research aims to develop an Android-based antonym-synonym dictionary application by applying the Boyer-Moore algorithm to improve the efficiency of lexical data searching. The research uses a software engineering approach with the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method, involving observation, literature study, and system implementation testing. Data is analyzed based on search performance using string-matching simulations. The research results indicate that the Boyer-Moore algorithm can significantly accelerate the search process compared to conventional methods, with accurate and relevant results to user keywords. The conclusion of this research shows that implementing appropriate string-matching algorithms can improve the quality of word search systems in digital dictionary applications, providing practical contributions to educational software development and supporting more inclusive and efficient language literacy in the context of mobile technology.

Abstract

The development of operating system virtualization technology has become a crucial need in the computing world to optimize the utilization of resources such as CPU, memory, and application response time. However, resource efficiency in each virtualization technology, including bare-metal, hypervisor, and container, remains a debated topic regarding optimal performance and resource usage. This study aims to analyze the computational resource efficiency of various virtualization technologies, focusing on CPU usage, memory consumption, and application response time. The method used is a descriptive literature review based on 23 relevant accredited national journals and articles. Data were analyzed through classification and comparison of previous research results on virtualization technology performance. The findings indicate that containers have the highest efficiency in CPU and memory usage as well as fast application response times, while hypervisors provide good isolation and security but with higher resource consumption. Bare-metal offers stable performance but with the largest resource usage. The implications of this study provide practical references for system developers and institutions in selecting virtualization technologies that suit resource efficiency needs and serve as a basis for further research in optimizing virtualization technologies.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the central role of recommendation algorithms in shaping the content consumption patterns of social media users, particularly on TikTok, which is experiencing rapid growth globally and locally. The research aims to analyze the influence of personal relevance, engagement rate, and frequency of exposure variables in TikTok's recommendation algorithm on content consumption behavior among users in Indonesia. An explanatory quantitative approach was used, with data collected through an online questionnaire involving 400 active TikTok users aged 18-35, which was then analyzed using multiple linear regression to test the relationships between variables. The results reveal that these three variables collectively contribute 68% to the variation in content consumption behavior, emphasizing the importance of recommendation algorithms in shaping user interaction with the platform. In conclusion, this research enriches the theoretical understanding of the influence of algorithms on digital behavior. It provides practical implications for platform developers and policymakers to enhance transparency and digital literacy to create a healthier and more diverse digital ecosystem.

Abstract

The air quality in the laboratory plays a crucial role in ensuring health and safety, especially in enclosed environments that are susceptible to the accumulation of pollutants such as CO₂ and dust particles. This research aims to design and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based air quality monitoring system using the NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller, MQ-135 sensor, and GP2Y1010AU0F, which can detect harmful gases and dust particles in real time. A systems engineering approach was applied, from observing the needs in the Pertamina Central Hospital laboratory and prototyping to performance testing of the system over seven days with automatic data collection via WiFi and Laravel-based web visualization. The study results indicate that the system can detect fluctuations in air quality with high accuracy, provide early warnings through a buzzer when threshold limits are exceeded, and present data in real time through a dashboard. In conclusion, this system offers practical contributions through a cost-effective and easy-to-implement monitoring solution. It strengthens the theoretical foundations in applying IoT technology for effectively and responsively managing laboratory air quality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality of internet networks provided by Smartfren and Indosat Ooredoo at SMAN 3 Kota Serang. The testing methods used include Wireshark, to monitor real-time network traffic, and Speedtest by Ookla, to measure download speed, upload speed, and latency. The results show that Indosat Ooredoo outperforms Smartfren in terms of both speed and connection stability. Speedtest offers a quick and user-friendly overview of network performance, while Wireshark provides more detailed technical data. Based on the measurements, Indosat Ooredoo is more suitable for supporting digital learning activities at the school due to its lower latency and higher access speed. Therefore, selecting the right internet provider plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth and effective internet-based learning.

Abstract

The student grade processing system at SMK Negeri 1 Cepu has traditionally relied on manual handwritten records, which are time-consuming, prone to errors, and inefficient for long-term data management. This study aims to develop and implement a web-based student grading system using an object-oriented design approach to improve accuracy and efficiency. The system was developed using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with the Waterfall model, employing PHP as the programming language and MySQL as the database. The development process includes requirement analysis, system design, coding, testing, and maintenance. The system utilizes primary data from the 2023/2024 academic year, covering 1,134 students, including user information, academic data, student grades, and grade reports. Black box testing results show 100% functionality compliance. The resulting application can be accessed via laptops and school computers, supporting school staff in managing, processing, and tracking student academic performance effectively each semester.
