Abstract

This community service project centered on the urgent need to reduce and prevent early marriage cases in Wongsorejo Village, Banyuwangi Regency. This is due to the high number of early marriage cases and its devastating effects on Wongsorejo citizens, especially children and teenagers, such as school dropouts, higher divorce rates, higher youth pregnancy complication rates, and even stunting. Since girls are highly likely to be victims of early marriage, gender inequality is a concern that needs to be addressed immediately. This community service aims to eliminate the potential factor of extra-marital pregnancy, which is one of the early marriage main causes in Wongsorejo. This is due to the root causes of low awareness about early marriage and young pregnancy among children and teenagers. Thus, KelasMimpi provides a solution by enhancing teenagers’ awareness of early marriage, emphasizing the importance of self-realization, and demonstrating how to apply it in their daily lives. This program is aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 5, ‘Equality,’ Target 5.3, ‘Eliminate all harmful practices, such as child, early and forced marriage and female genital mutilation.’ This program employs a service learning approach with three implementation methods: informative education sessions, focus group discussions, and interactive discussions. Questionnaires were used as the main impact evaluation method. KelasMimpi yields significant results in changing teenagers’ perceptions of early marriage and their self-realization ability.

Abstract

ChatGPT is a virtual and important tool that can assist both lecturers and students in getting information about things they want to know, seeking clarification, and obtaining ideas related to assignments and projects. The main thing is that access to information becomes faster and more effective. In order to help the Amungme and Kamoro Community Empowerment Foundation in Mimika Regency (called Yayasan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Amungme dan Kamaro or YPMAK in Indonesian), the Faculty Team at Universitas Katolik De La Salle Manado, consisting of lecturers from the Management, Physiotherapy, Agribusiness, and Electrical Engineering study programs, conducted a ChatGPT training for YPMAK students across these four study programs. This community service was organized by the team, with the help of the university students and alumni from October until November 2024, about technology and the English language. The team introduced the YPMAK students to ChatGPT technology and trained them on how to use it for the learning process. After the training, the team conducted a comprehension test to observe if the students could improve their knowledge of the English language, especially reading and grammar. The team also conducted a short survey to determine the students' perceptions when they learned with ChatGPT.

Abstract

GKI Pamulang, located in South Tangerang, Banten, formed a community of culinary entrepreneurs to help improve the economy of the congregation. Not only due to the pandemic, most of their congregations resorted to starting a culinary business due to the huge market opportunity and the ease of starting it. However, limited experience, knowledge, and low ecosystem support make community businesses stagnant. Through the identification of problems, it was found that business management, marketing and innovation strategies, and methods of increasing business income were not yet developed well by the community members. The structured mentoring method was carried out through assessment stages, early-stage presentations, early-stage interventions, advanced-stage presentations, and follow-up interventions. Through this stages, it was found that participants showed increased understanding and changes in knowledge, including market segmentation, customer persona, value proposition, marketing methods, and market expansion to increase revenue. The causality analysis method (cause-and-effect) was used to look at pre- and post-intervention changes using 6 themes of Bill Aulet’s disciplined entrepreneurship indicators. It can be concluded that there has been a change in understanding, insight, and skills in business management, and the goals of the culinary business community for the economic improvement of the GKI Pamulang congregation can be achieved.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship education has become very important in today's digital era, especially in preparing the younger generation to face global economic challenges. Sekolah Nasional Nusaputera has the potential to enhance entrepreneurship literacy through technology, but has experienced a decrease in the use of IoT-based entrepreneurship lockers and cashless payment systems post-Covid-19 pandemic. This research aims to address these issues through the development of hologram technology as a tool to improve students' and teachers' understanding of entrepreneurship and technology literacy. The methods used include needs analysis, the development of interactive hologram content, training, and information dissemination. The results indicate that the use of holograms successfully captured students' interest and improved their understanding of entrepreneurship lockers and digital promotion. However, students also desire further development, including the integration of AI technology and animation, to make learning more interactive. In conclusion, hologram technology has proven effective in enhancing digital promotion and student engagement at Sekolah Nasional Nusaputera, while also opening opportunities for further innovation in this field.

Abstract

Good waste management is one of the current global challenges. Schools are one of the places to form environmental awareness among students. Nusaputera National School in Semarang, as a partner in this community service program, faces problems related to the lack of education on good waste sorting and limited infrastructure that supports these activities. To overcome this problem, this community service program implements automatic sensor-based trash can technology that facilitates the waste disposal process so that students' awareness of waste management can increase. Through information dissemination and education involving students and teachers from various levels of education, this program has succeeded in increasing understanding of proper waste sorting. Evaluations conducted during the implementation of the program showed that the automatic trash can technology succeeded in attracting students' interest and increasing their awareness of the importance of waste management. The sustainability of this program is planned by providing further training for teachers and students and introducing the same technology to other schools in the Semarang area. The results of this program are expected to have a wider impact in creating a culture of sustainable waste sorting in the educational environment, while supporting Nusaputera National School's vision in realizing technology-based and environmentally friendly education.

Abstract

Education on simple financial management using the Lamikro application carried out by the community service team with Marife Cake & Pastry as a partner aims to provide an understanding of the need to separate business and personal financial management. This training also provided education on the technical use of the Lamikro application in preparing profit and loss reports and balance sheets since this application is easy to understand for everyone. Marife Cake and Pastry, located in the Bekasi area, has difficulty managing finances. The partners of this community service program still mixed business and personal finances and had not been calculating the profit or income from the business they have been pursuing so far. The owners of this micro, small, and medium business did not yet have a good understanding of financial management and financial reporting. Marife Cake and Pastry managed its finances traditionally, not separating business finances from personal finances. As a result, this business had difficulty determining the actual business profit. To overcome this, the community service team provided training on simple financial management using the Lamikro application. This educational activity was in the form of training on managing MSME business finance and using the Lamikro application to record every financial transaction. After following the training, Marife Cake and Pastry can utilize the Lamikro application to create financial reports and manage business and personal finances separately. The owner also gains insight into the assets owned by his business.

Abstract

The YouVersion Bible is a free Bible app from Life Church. YouVersion provides a digital Bible integrated with support services for reading the Bible. YouVersion provides a friend facility so users can share and read the Bible together. The completeness of these facilities provides opportunities for elderly congregations to use them personally or with the community. However, the completeness of the facilities is a challenge for elderly congregations to use them technically and to use the content for spiritual needs. The community service team consisting of a combination of personnel from the Faculty of Information Technology and the Faculty of Theology has carried out the task of organizing training and mentoring.  Participants were 22 active elderly congregations familiar with technology, taking part in technical training on the use of facilities, simple Bible teaching, and the concept of a complete spiritual digital community with features that support community activities. During mentoring, participants were given independent tasks to explore the application's features. Intensive discussions including question and answer sessions had been held both directly and via WhatsApp groups. Monitoring of application usage based on feature usage activities and badge acquisition: participants who continuously use the YouVersion Bible application features after the training is completed are 53% of the 22 participants. Digital spiritual communities have not yet been formed based on community support features. In addition, participants have not yet related the use of Bible applications, including social media, that support relationships with others online with church activities and spirituality.
