Abstract

Jamu is known as a herbal product that has benefits for maintaining body stamina. Jamu is synonymous with Javanese tradition, but nowadays the term is generalized to represent herbal drinks. To foster interest in drinking herbal medicine, the dissemination and practice of herbal medicine such as kunyit asam and beras kencur were conducted. The activity was carried out with students, principals, and accompanying teachers at Raudhatul Athfal Taufiqurrahman in Beji Timur Village, Depok. The approach used is Participatory Action Research, which involves the role of teachers and jamu traders during the activity. This activity involved Budhe Sumi as a jamu maker who often sells her jamu around the school. In addition to getting to know various types of jamu, children are introduced to raw materials or empon-empon such as turmeric, kencur, ginger, lemongrass, tamarind, and others. They were given information on how to make jamu and the benefits of jamu in keeping fit. Each child received a 1/4 liter bottle of beras kencur produced by Budhe Sumi, which is useful for relieving coughs, increasing appetite, and relieving fatigue. The results showed that the students recognized kunyit asam and beras kencur. They can taste the flavor and aroma of ginger, turmeric, kencur, lemongrass, and other ingredients. This event provides new experiences for children. The majority of children are interested, even though there are 25 percent of participants who do not like to drink the jamu. It is basic knowledge about jamu in a simple way. This is social engineering to educate children about local cultural wisdom so that the togetherness of stakeholders is very useful to foster caring behavior with local wisdom or pro-local culture behavior.

Abstract

Salikneta Farm is located in Bulacan, Philippines. On that farm, many monitoring tasks were conducted conventionally, which might be labour-intensive and error-prone. Only physical appearance might be considered while monitoring the farm. This international community service developed an IoT-based land monitoring system to help farmers monitor their farms. The IoT system was designed as a suitcase for portability, and it could send the data to a server for further analysis. Upon testing the IoT system, it was then delivered to Salikneta Farm. A workshop was then conducted onsite, covering the IoT system and how to use it in the field. According to 15 participants, the workshop was insightful and helped the participants to understand the IoT system and its usage. The interview with the supervisor of the farm supported this. After the workshop, the IoT system was used on the farm. The supervisor occasionally reported the conditions and consulted on some issues. There was some data reported from the IoT system to a special server.  To sum up, the system was considered beneficial for the farm and it is being used.

Abstract

Health and beauty are essential aspects of a Muslimah’s life, which Islamic values should maintain as a form of gratitude and responsibility for the body entrusted by Allah. However, a lack of education regarding proper, healthy, and halal self-care practices remains an issue. This community service program aims to enhance Muslim women's understanding of healthy and Islamic-compliant skincare through a seminar and beauty class themed "Care about Beauty, Care about Health". The activities consisted of an educational seminar on skincare awareness and a hands-on beauty class using halal-certified products. The implementation methods included lectures, demonstrations, interactive Q&A sessions, and evaluation via questionnaires. The program involved both academics and halal beauty practitioners from Wardah. The results showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge of skincare techniques and awareness in selecting safe, halal beauty products. Program outputs included an educational self-care module, an article publication, and visual documentation, serving as a reference and evaluation material for future programs. This initiative is expected to have a lasting impact on raising awareness among Muslim women about the importance of maintaining a balanced approach to personal care, one that combines physical wellness with spiritual integrity.

Abstract

The main objective of the training is to provide a fun and educational learning experience, while introducing basic tote bag coloring techniques and developing creativity. First and second-grade students are generally unfamiliar with art techniques like tie-dye, which require creative exploration of color and shape. The activity is conducted in groups to encourage collaboration. Students are invited to create simple tie-dye creations using white tote bags, rubber bands, and safe textile dyes. The implementation process begins with a brief introduction to tie-dye and examples of its work to arouse students' interest. Next, students are introduced to the tools and materials needed, namely plain tote bags, textile dyes, and rubber bands. The next step is a demonstration of tote bag tying and coloring techniques. The PKM Team and Teachers, as facilitators, demonstrate several basic techniques slowly and provide guidance to ensure that each student understands how. It is important to give students the freedom to try the tying techniques they want, encouraging exploration and experimentation. Training evaluation is not only seen from the results of the work, but also from the process of students in creating, independence, and collaboration between friends. Effective implementation requires careful planning, availability of materials, and patient and supportive guidance, ensuring that every SDN Bayongbong student can participate and enjoy this creative process. Tie-dye training is very beneficial for children because it trains fine motor skills and hand coordination when tying tote bags, pouring colors, and folding tote bags.

Abstract

Many students face challenges in mastering reading, writing, and arithmetic due to the limitations of preschool education, low learning support from families, and the lack of available learning resources. In addition to the above reasons, it cannot be denied that the lack of interest and motivation to learn is also one of the reasons why many students have not been able to master these basic numeracy and literacy skills. Therefore, this community service activity aims to improve basic reading, writing, and counting skills in students from grade 1 to 3 of SDN X Ciherang. This mentoring programme is designed as a form of preparation for the calistung competition through a fun learning approach and focuses on improving basic academic skills. The methods used in this activity are quantitative and qualitative methods, through the implementation of pre-test and post-test that have met the standards of the Ministry of Culture, Research and Technology, observation of student learning behaviour, and short interviews. Mentoring activities were carried out for approximately three weeks with a frequency of 2-3 times per week. The evaluation results showed a significant improvement in students' abilities in reading, writing, and counting after being given intensive guidance. In addition to improving academic skills, students also showed a more positive attitude towards learning. This activity shows that tutoring designed according to the needs of children and the local context can improve students' readiness to participate in competitions, as well as have a positive impact on their motivation and confidence in learning.

Abstract

Increasing household food waste in the Special Region of Yogyakarta results from changing consumption patterns and excessive portion sizes. Effective household organic waste management is therefore essential to minimize its environmental impact. This community service activity, carried out by the Faculty of Biotechnology, Duta Wacana Christian University, addressed the problem of household organic waste in Pedakbaru RW07, Karangbendo, Banguntapan, Bantul. Through education that links waste challenges with actionable solutions based on organic waste processing, participants learned to convert kitchen scraps into valuable resources. The training successfully enabled 25 participants to produce vermicompost and vermiwash from household organic waste using repurposed containers, demonstrating a practical and scalable approach to waste reduction. This outcome reflects the value of collaboration between university stakeholders and residents in adopting sustainable, locally adapted waste management practices.

Abstract

Public speaking is one of the essential skills that young people need to develop, particularly to enhance soft skills such as self-confidence and effective communication. Many students still experience fear and anxiety when speaking in public, which often leads to passive participation in classroom learning. In response to this issue, this community service activity aimed to improve students' public speaking abilities through practice-based training. The program was conducted at Tarsisius I Junior High School in Jakarta and involved 8th and 9th-grade students. The implementation method included the delivery of material through interactive presentations using PowerPoint, followed by practical public speaking exercises in front of an audience. The program was evaluated through direct observation and the distribution of questionnaires to participants. The results showed that the majority of participants found the training to be both engaging and valuable. This activity demonstrates that public speaking training can serve as a strategic effort to enhance the quality of human resources and foster personal development among students.

Abstract

Mulia Prasama Danarta Savings and Loan Cooperative is committed to improving the economic welfare of its members through financial literacy programs, one of which is the Budget Card (KARA) and Daily Card (KARI) methods. However, the implementation of these methods was still done manually using paper, making it inefficient, vulnerable to data loss, and unable to provide automatic financial analysis. This community service activity aimed to design and implement a web-based financial recording system to digitize the KARI and KARA methods, making it easier for members to plan budgets and record daily transactions. The implementation method for this activity utilized a participatory approach that included four stages: (1) survey and needs analysis, (2) website platform development, (3) dissemination and training attended by 50 members on July 28, 2025, and (4) impact evaluation attended by 27 members on September 11, 2025. Feedback data collection was carried out through an online questionnaire. The results of the activity show that the digital platform was successfully developed according to needs and was very positively received by members. Evaluation data shows that 92.6% of users intend to continue using this system because it is considered easy and useful. In addition, constructive feedback was obtained for future feature development, such as budgeting period flexibility. It was concluded that digitizing the KARI and KARA systems through a website platform is an effective solution with significant potential to increase the effectiveness of cooperative financial literacy programs and encourage better financial management practices for MSME members and individuals.
