Abstract

Sangiran Tourism Village is administratively located in Krikilan Village, Kalijambe District, Sragen Regency. The location selection is purposive because Sangiran Tourism Village is located in Sragen Regency and has abundant potential in the form of heritage and ecology tourism. Another thing that supports the choice of location is that Sangiran Tourism Village is located in the Sangiran Ancient Human Site tourist complex, which is an international-class tourism resort and has been designated as a cultural heritage site by UNESCO. It is supposed that the tourism and creative industry potential in Sangiran Tourism Village can be developed further. In that case, it is expected that it will be able to improve the welfare and economy of the community, especially in Krikilan Village. The main problems in the Sangiran tourism village community are: a) There needs to be an introduction to science and technology related to the procurement of souvenirs that can be the mainstay of the region. b) There is no science and technology related to making souvenir designs that can arouse their creativity c) Types of souvenirs that are not in demand by visitors and relatively expensive in prices d) Marketing that still needs to be more extensive to increase sellers' income. This triggered the service team to analyze the situation faced by the Sangiran community so as to find a point of discovery to hold training and assistance in making souvenirs. Community service in the context of community empowerment in Sangiran Tourism Village was carried out with the following objectives: a) Providing insight into souvenirs, including making models, b) introducing and providing training on designing alternative souvenirs, especially those that are typical of the Sangiran area. c) Assisting in making designs and models d) Assisting in the marketing of souvenirs that have been successfully produced.

Abstract

Mobilising parents’ existing assets is increasingly regarded as an important strategy to improve early childhood education in resource-limited contexts. This pilot study utilised Participatory Action Research (PAR) in conjunction with Ward’s (2019) Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) logical model in two government pre-primary schools in the Nzega district, Tanzania. Thirteen parent connectors received training and support to identify community assets, prioritise actionable steps, and implement peer-led training and volunteer programs. Thematic analysis of meetings, interviews, and observations indicated a transition from a deficit perspective of parents to an acknowledgement of their social and human capital as significant assets. Data from 160 parents, collected before and after the study, showed a significant improvement (p < 0.001) in parents’ competencies in home learning support, homework assistance, meeting attendance, and school volunteering. In three months, parent volunteers made 54 instructional aids in the intervention schools. This pilot study shows that an ABCD logical model may be effective, acceptable, and a promising start toward increasing parents' engagement in their children's pre-primary education in Tanzania.

Abstract

The development of green rural tourism that offers the advantages of the natural environment and local culture is an interesting trend so that through the community service program, it is expected to build awareness and increase the technical capacity of tourism managers in maintaining environmental sustainability so that the tourism sector remains sustainable and competitive. The location of the community service is in Sumberdem Village, which is the area in the Wonosasi Sub-district in the Gunung Kawi region. The approach used was the initiation model in the form of integrated green rural development through the stages of needs identification, analysis, introduction of ideas, training, demonstration, and evaluation. Data collection on the success of the program was conducted through a closed questionnaire to obtain structured answers and interviews to explore more in-depth information related to the impact and effectiveness of the program. This program has produced a green tourism management model guidebook, which contains an introduction to green tourism, prerequisites for managers, implementation of SOPs, and good practices. The results of the post-training evaluation questionnaire showed an increase in the capacity of Pokdarwis administrators and members, especially those related to insight development, environmental awareness, and visitor management skills.

Abstract

The arts and culture of each region in Indonesia have unique authenticity, making them difficult to imitate and giving each area its characteristics. This uniqueness can be developed, particularly in tourism. Community participation is crucial in tourism development, making the formation of POKDARWIS essential in areas with tourism potential, such as Mentaraman village. Initial observations show that Mentaraman village has yet to form a POKDARWIS, prompting this study to recommend its establishment. This study outlines the targets and stages needed to form a POKDARWIS, including the preparation, formation, and formalization stages. The planning stage involves mapping the village's potential to identify the need for POKDARWIS. The formation stage begins with information dissemination and agreements among stakeholders. The formalization stage ensures community recognition through relevant agencies. The results demonstrate successful POKDARWIS formation. Positive community responses highlight that the program aligns with their needs, fostering a sense of ownership and enthusiasm for tourism development. This initiative not only meets the community service program output target but also lays the foundation for sustainable tourism practices by integrating local arts and culture into the program's framework.

Abstract

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) cannot be achieved without the active involvement of young people, who are one of the important pillars of sustainable development. They will be the ones who will experience the success or failure of the 2030 agenda of SDGs. Youth have great potential as agents of change who can create innovations. Therefore, it is important to foster self-awareness in youth of their important role in realizing sustainable development goals. A community service activity was carried out to provide a comprehensive understanding of the SDGs in Indonesia and encourage the active role of youth in realizing them. The event was in the form of information dissemination, conducted on Monday, September 9th, 2024, at 10:00 - 11:30. The event was delivered directly onsite at SMP Katolik Ricci 1. Abstract

Cities are increasingly developing in various aspects as the population increases. Changes and developments in the City of Jakarta are taking place very rapidly. This can be seen clearly in terms of the expansion of the metropolitan area; the increase of the city network that facilitates population mobility, various architectural programs, and new projects in the city. In current conditions, the city government is trying to accommodate change and development of the city by developing spaces in Jakarta through the Transit Oriented Development system. This system aims to revitalize the area by promoting a new lifestyle that focuses on safe mobility and comfortable public transportation - a compact area with high intensity supported by various land uses. Manggarai is one of the such areas in Jakarta. Normally, an area such as the Manggarai area is encouraged to have a city design guideline document, so that development activities in the area follow the rules and directions. Due to the preparation of the guideline document by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, it is necessary to do a preliminary study to see the potential, challenges, and problems of the area. One of the aspects assessed in this process is the realization of land use and building intensity in existing/current conditions. The Untar community service team saw an opportunity to provide information on existing conditions (problems/challenges) and thoughts regarding the current situation in the Manggarai area, as input for consideration in the process of preparing the guideline document in the future. Field survey methods and comparative studies between existing conditions with detailed spatial plan document are used to assess realization/ fulfillment aspects.  The results of this service are booklets about growth and change, as well as challenges and problems in the Manggarai area. Growth of the Manggarai area is rapid, and there is an urge to have city guidance. This preliminary observation was submitted and presented to the Provincial Government Spatial Planning (Dinas Cipta Karya Tata Ruang dan Pertanahan Pemprov DKI Jakarta).
