Abstract

Islamic studies is a field of scholarship that is deeply rooted in the intellectual history of Islam and has developed in tandem with the dynamics of Muslim civilisation. Over time, Islamic studies has come to be understood not only as a normative study of religious teachings, but also as an academic discipline that integrates various multidisciplinary approaches. This article aims to trace the historical journey of Islamic studies from the early period of Islam to the modern era, while identifying the main factors behind its emergence as a scientific discipline. This study uses a literature review method with a historical-analytical approach to classical and contemporary sources. The results of the study show that the development of Islamic studies was influenced by internal factors, such as revelation, Islamic scientific tradition, and the needs of the people, as well as external factors in the form of interactions between civilisations, Western orientalism, and the challenges of modernity. Therefore, modern Islamic studies can be understood as a synthesis between classical intellectual heritage and current academic demands

Abstract

Rasulan is a tradition in Bojong Village, which is one of the areas in Serang Regency, Banten Province. This tradition is called the Apostle because it is often carried out on Islamic holidays, especially in the month of the Prophet’s birthday. This Apostle did it as an expression of gratitude to Allah SWT for the abundance of rice harvest and also a form of almsgiving. In Bojong Village, this apostolic tradition has a meaning that is passed down from generation to generation, namely as a form of gratitude to Allah SWT. in addition, the local community views this issue as a sacred moment that unites religious values, customs, and togetherness. Which contains various Kinds such as joint Prayer, Selametan, an Eating Together. This reaserch uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-interpretive type of reaserch and is based on social action theory. The qualitative approach was chosen because this study aims to deeply understand the meaning, Values, and social actions of the community in the apostolic tradition as a living religious practice (living hadith) in Bojong Village, Kemuning Village, Tunjung Teja District, Serang-Banten Regency. Social action theory is used to analyze how community actions in the Apostolic traditon are underpinned by subjective meanings related to religious values, customs, and social relations. The tradition of the Apostles in Bojong Village forms a social system that regulates the pattern of relationships and interactions between residents.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between salary and the performance of mosque caretakers (marbot) in Solo City. Marbots play a strategic role in maintaining the cleanliness, order, and readiness of mosque facilities; therefore, their performance directly affects congregational comfort and the effectiveness of religious activities. However, field observations show that many marbots receive low wages that do not match their workload, potentially reducing motivation and work quality. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The informants consisted of marbots and mosque administrators selected purposively from various mosques in Solo City. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal a clear relationship between salary levels and marbot performance. Marbots who receive adequate wages tend to show higher motivation, better discipline, and improved maintenance of mosque cleanliness and facilities. Conversely, marbots with lower wages often experience economic pressure that affects their focus and reduces the consistency of their work performance. Additionally, variations in salary systems across different religious organizational groups also influence differences in marbot performance among mosques. This study concludes that improving marbot welfare significantly enhances the quality of mosque services. Therefore, mosque administrators should consider implementing a fairer and more structured compensation system as part of efforts to strengthen mosque management overall.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah is an Islamic movement characterised by renewal (tajdid) which, since its inception, has played an active role in the development of social, educational and health sectors in Indonesia. In line with the dynamics of social change in modern society, it is necessary to revitalise Muhammadiyah's role so that it remains relevant and adaptive to the challenges of the times. This paper aims to examine the revitalisation of Muhammadiyah's role in the social, educational, and health sectors with an emphasis on innovation, empowerment, and institutional strengthening. In the social sector, Muhammadiyah contributes through community service and empowerment oriented towards welfare and independence. In the education sector, Muhammadiyah acts as an agent of renewal by developing modern, holistic Islamic education that is responsive to technological developments. Meanwhile, in the health sector, Muhammadiyah provides health services that integrate Islamic values and medical professionalism. Revitalising Muhammadiyah's role in these three areas is an important strategy for strengthening its tangible contribution to building a progressive Islamic society with social justice.
