Indonesian Mathematics Education Journal is published by Jurusan Tadris Matematika, Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Ilmu Keguruan, Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Ponorogo as a medium to increase the creativity of teachers (especially mathematics teachers), lecturers, academics, and practitioners related to research and community service in the field of tadris/education in mathematics. This journal provides a venue for publication that is peer-reviewed, academically rigorous, and professionally recognized. IMEJ publishes original articles on the latest issues and trends in research and community service in the field of tadris/education in Mathematics. This journal is published twice a year on April and Oktober. The Editorial Board of the Journal invites every manuscript that addresses the topic of research and community service in the field of mathematics education that uses an established and recognized scientific approach that also has impact or can be generalized to national and international populations. All manuscripts must provide a thorough literature review defining research and community service problems as well as overall conclusions discussing the implications and limitations of research and community service, especially in the field of mathematics education.

Abstract

Pembelajaran matematika sering dianggap sulit oleh siswa, khususnya dalam memahami konsep bilangan bulat. Hal tersebut disebabkan oleh minimnya penggunaan media pembelajaran inovatif serta dominasi metode pembelajaran yang berpusat pada guru dan menggunakan metode konvensional seperti ceramah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan efektivitas media pembelajaran papan garis bilangan bulat berbasis etnomatematika dalam meningkatkan kemampuan logical mathematic siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE yang meliputi tahap analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Instrumen penelitian meliputi lembar validasi, angket, serta tes (pretest dan posttest) serta analisis data menggunakan uji kepraktisan dan efektivitas (Paired Sample T-Test, dan N-Gain).Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media yang dikembangkan memiliki tingkat kevalidan sangat tinggi (0,92–1,00), praktis digunakan, dan cukup efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan logical mathematic siswa, yang ditunjukkan melalui hasil uji statistik dan nilai N-Gain sebesar 74,88% pada skala luas. Media ini layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran matematika di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Understanding fractions is an essential competence for elementary school students, yet its abstract nature often leads to misconceptions and low learning outcomes. In the era of digital transformation, educators are faced with a choice between using interactive digital media or conventional media based on manipulative objects. This study aims to synthesize and compare the effectiveness of these two media categories in improving mathematics learning outcomes for fraction materials in elementary schools. This research adopts a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, analyzing 20 primary literatures published between 2018 and 2025. Data were identified using Publish or Perish software and subjected to comparative analysis. The findings indicate that digital media (53% dominance) is highly effective as a cognitive accelerator that enhances extrinsic motivation and the speed of solving procedural problems through dynamic visualization. Meanwhile, conventional media (47%) remains crucial as a "cognitive anchor" that excels in building fundamental mathematical intuition and reducing misconceptions through tactile experiences. There is no absolute dominance of one medium over the other; optimal learning outcomes are achieved through a hybrid approach (blended media), where conventional media is utilized during the initial concept planting phase and digital media during the practice and evaluation phases.

Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir reflektif memegang peranan krusial dalam pembelajaran matematika karena membantu siswa menilai dan menyesuaikan cara berpikir untuk memahami konsep secara mendalam. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan eksperimen yaitu pretest-posttest control group design. Subjek terdiri atas 30 siswa kelas III MI Ma’arif Singosaren Ponorogo yang terbagi dalam kelas eksperimen (PjBL) dan kelas kontrol (konvensional). Instrumen berupa lima soal valid dan reliabel untuk pretest dan posttest. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan awal kedua kelompok setara (rata-rata pretest: eksperimen 68,33; kontrol 67,33). Setelah perlakuan, kelas eksperimen menunjukkan peningkatan lebih signifikan (posttest 86,33) dibandingkan kelas kontrol (posttest 77,00). Uji t-test menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan antara kedua kelompok (t(28) = 3,805, p = 0,001). N-Gain kelas eksperimen mencapai 59,20% (kategori sedang) dan kelas kontrol 29,94% (kategori rendah). Berdasarkan uji tersebut penerapan model PjBL lebih efektif daripada pembelajaran konvensional dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematis siswa pada topik keliling dan luas bangun datar menggunakan satuan tidak baku.
