Abstract

The progress of Industry 4.0 has had both positive and negative impacts. One of the impacts that can be felt by today's teenagers is a lack of character development. Character cultivation is carried out not only in the family environment, but can also be done in the school environment. School is an arena for cultivating character values for its students. One of the most highlighted character cultivation in the current era is the cultivation of the character of tolerance between religious communities. Departing from these problems, this research aims to discuss the habitus of tolerance in schools in the VUCA Era (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity), especially for students who are Generation Z. The method used in this research is qualitative by in-depth interviews with school students and conducting Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with student representatives at the Surakarta Ex-Karisidenan. The results of this research show that the UCA Era (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) has an impact on the process of reproducing the habitus of tolerance in schools. This is because digital processes in the VUCA Era (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) tend to strengthen polarization and increase disagreement between different groups. When information disseminated via social media or other online platforms tends to mislead or oversimplify the complexity of issues, this can result in stigma, stereotypes, and prejudice against certain groups.

Abstract

Background: Globalization has significantly impacted language use and identity formation worldwide. In Indonesia, the increasing prevalence of English alongside the national language, Bahasa Indonesia, has sparked a complex negotiation of linguistic identities among Indonesians. This research investigates how globalization influences English language use and its implications for Indonesian identity construction in the 21st century. Methods: This qualitative study employed semi-structured interviews with 30 young adult Indonesians from diverse socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. Thematic analysis was used to identify patterns and themes within the interview data, focusing on participants' perceptions of English, its role in their lives, and its impact on their sense of Indonesian identity. Findings: The findings reveal a nuanced understanding of English among young Indonesians. English is perceived as a tool for social mobility, professional advancement, and accessing global knowledge and culture. However, concerns were raised about the potential erosion of Indonesian language and cultural identity due to the dominance of English. Participants expressed a desire to maintain a strong sense of Indonesian identity while also embracing the benefits of English in a globalized world. Conclusion: This study demonstrates the complex interplay between language, identity, and globalization in the Indonesian context. The findings highlight the need for further research on language policies and educational practices that can promote multilingualism and intercultural competence, enabling Indonesians to navigate a globalized world while preserving their unique cultural heritage.

Abstract

The ratification of Law number 14 of 2019 concerning Social Workers is proof of a major step in the historical development of social work practices in Indonesia. Along with the complexity of the social issues faced, a deep understanding of the development of social work practice research is very important. However, since the practice of social work grew from 1945 until five years after the passage of the law related to the profession of social work, there has not been a roadmap for conference research in the field of social work practice in Indonesia. This study seeks to analyze the development of research in the field of social work practice in Indonesia in the last ten years and analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the field of social work practice in Indonesia. It is hoped that the results of this study will be able to provide an overview of the dynamics of the research, so it is very important as a consideration for policy input in the development of social work/social welfare science curriculum, designing intervention programs, and identifying strengths and knowledge gaps so that social workers in Indonesia have competitiveness in the international arena. Several concepts will be used in this study, including the concept of social work practice and the concept of social welfare. The bibliometric method approach will be used in this study, by analyzing the numerical trend of the number of publications in the last 10 years, the quantitative distribution of publication years, the characteristics of authors, and the relevance of subtopics. The search for research articles will use Harzing's Publish or Perish and Google Scholar applications as data retrieval databases, then analyzed in depth including research productivity, regional distribution, the most influential researchers, mapping research themes, as well as analysis of research strengths and weaknesses in the field and visualized using VOSViewer and several other applications.

Abstract

This study examines the complexities of crisis communication in the context of Indonesia, considering the nation’s vulnerability to a range of crises, such as health problems, political upheaval, and natural catastrophes. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study combined social network analysis, surveys, content analysis, and qualitative interviews to give a thorough knowledge of the dynamics of crisis communication.Important conclusions emphasize the important of social media and other international communication channels to coordinate crisis response and speedy information distribution. However, obstacles, e.g., the dissemination of false information, highlight the need for stronger approaches to information management. Furthermore, the practices of crisis communication in Indonesia are heavily influenced by contextual, social, and cultural aspects. Communication is influenced by language diversity, cultural standards, and religious sensitivity techniques, highlighting the significance of cultural sensitivity and comprehension of regional situations. The findings have implications for stakeholders, practitioners, and policymakers who are active in communication and crisis management. Enhancing public education and awareness campaigns, strengthening international cooperation to fortify crisis response skills, and boosting coordination among government institutions are among the recommendations. Although the study offers insightful information about crisis communication in Indonesia, it is important to recognize its limits and the dynamic character of crisis communication to guide future research efforts. The overall goal of this research is to contribute to the development of better crisis management and resilience building techniques in Indonesia and beyond.

Abstract

This study systematically reviews studies published between 2019 and 2025 on the role of digital communication in libraries in promoting an inclusive society. Using the PRISMA methodology as a guide, the analysis focuses on digital strategies, inclusivity, and governance. Findings indicate that academic libraries expanded off-campus digital access during the COVID-19 pandemic, while AI-based assistive technologies improved accessibility for users with disabilities. However, governance challenges—such as limited control over content curation and ethical issues in AI use—persist. Theoretically, digital communication functions as a mechanism for democratizing knowledge, providing broader access to information for non-elite audiences. Practically, libraries need to balance technological innovation with ethical governance, participatory curation, and inclusive policies to enhance social equity.

Abstract

Raising revenue with digital methods gives government the chance to shape society by improving inclusion and equity, not only fiscal matters. This study investigates ways digital tax systems work to ensure fairness, openness and equal availability of government aid, considering their effect on underrepresented groups. To do this, the study mixes reviewing medical literature, studying case studies and looking at policy frameworks used in both developed and developing nations. The study concludes that while digital tax systems improve compliance, reduce costs and create more openness, they also lead to problems with digital education, limited infrastructure and leave some groups out of the process. The findings suggest that making good use of proper tax design, public-private alliances and user-driven practices can unite, rather than separate, people from different socioeconomic groups. This paper clarifies how digital governance, tax policies and social inclusion link to sustainable development priorities.

Abstract

Open cultural heritage platforms like Europeana are widely used to store and share the rich history of Europe. Access to such large collections of linked data is still not widely distributed due to technical difficulties and the poor usability of semantic search interfaces. This paper proposes a conceptual framework for improving information retrieval on cultural heritage knowledge graphs. The model is built on the EDM and RDF Schema and introduces weighted semantic relationships between resources. It encodes weights as contextual metadata on edges and uses category-based weighting, external linked data sources (DBpedia, Freebase, etc. ), and optimized graph traversal to improve the relevance and inclusivity of search results. By assigning relative relevance to each graph edge based on the similarity of shared metadata categories, the proposed method increases the accuracy of query results, while improving their coverage to include semantically similar entities, allowing non-domain expert users, educators, and underrepresented communities to browse and discover new information. This work is in line with efforts to create an inclusive digital public sphere in communication studies by building on the idea of enhancing active semantic and semiotic forms of participation rather than limiting users to passive and non-inclusive forms of access. The paper is theoretical in nature, providing a proof of concept and evaluating model characteristics; however, it also briefly describes the future evaluation strategy and use cases beyond the cultural heritage context.
