Abstract

Environmental issues are becoming more complex, yet integrating environmental education into the school curriculum remains challenging. Many schools struggle to implement sustainable practices due to limited resources and a lack of awareness among stakeholders. This study analyzes the implementation of the eco-environment concept at Bintang Madani Qur'an Nature Elementary School, focusing on the integration of environmental programs in the curriculum and school activities, challenges faced, and the solutions applied. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the school has implemented eco-environmental principles by engaging in greening initiatives, managing waste effectively, and utilizing environmentally friendly energy programs. The program's challenges include limited funds and facilities, resource constraints, limited understanding of the green school concept, and inconsistencies in program implementation. To address these challenges, the school, in cooperation with external institutions, provides training for teachers and students, involves the community in sustainability programs, and strengthens institutional management. This study has implications for the development of environmental education theory and practice based on local and religious values. It is the basis for formulating more contextual and applicable environmental education policies at the regional and national levels.

Abstract

Literary works are often considered mere entertainment. In fact, these works can be used as educational messages, especially related to the phenomenon of transformation—tending towards decadence―of students' morals and characters amidst changing times. Educational values have shifted. Inappropriate attitudes towards teachers in the past have become commonplace today for various academic and theoretical reasons. These values are reflected in the poem Qum li al-Mu‘allimi Waffihi al-Tabjīlā by Ahmed Shawky. This poem emphasizes the importance of respect for teachers as symbols of wisdom and sources of knowledge. This research aims to reveal the meaning of Islamic education values in the poem through Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic approach. The main focus of the research is the idea of Islamic education, and the poem is the material object. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a semiotic analysis of the three main elements in Peirce’s theory: icons, indexes, and symbols. This analysis is used to interpret the representation of the values of faith, worship, and morals in the poem. The results show that the values of Islamic education in this poem are knowledge is an important part of faith; respecting teachers is part of worship, even the law is obligatory as obligatory as worshiping Allah; and learning must be based on good ethics. This study implies that respect for teachers is more important than knowledge itself. Because noble morals are a sign of the blessing of knowledge and student success.

Abstract

Islamic Education (PAI) plays a strategic role in shaping students’ character and morals, especially amid technological advancement and globalization. However, PAI teachers face complex challenges in teaching Generation Z students who are digital natives, critical thinkers, independent learners, and prefer interactive learning. This study aims to analyze the challenges faced by PAI teachers and the innovative strategies applied in addressing Generation Z students at NU Sunan Ampel Vocational School, Poncokusumo. This quali¬ta-tive research employed observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques and descriptive analysis as a data analysis technique. The findings reveal key challenges, including students’ low interest in conventional methods, exposure to radical and liberal religious content, limited technology integration, and students’ critical attitudes toward religious discourse. To address these challenges, teachers implemented innovative strategies such as interactive digital media, project-based learning, and integration of Islamic values in counseling. These strategies significantly improved students’ partici¬pation, comprehension, and application of religious values in daily life. The study recommends enhancing teachers’ digital competencies and school policy support to realize a more adaptive and relevant PAI learning model for Generation Z.

Abstract

In the era of digital transformation, Islamic educational institutions, particularly madrasahs, face significant challenges in maintaining education quality while integrating digital technologies. A key issue lies in the gap between the current state of digital readiness and the expected standards of digital education management. This study aims to develop a model of quality management for digital-based education in Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) in Parepare City, Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach with grounded theory methodology, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis from selected MTs actively implementing digital programs. The findings reveal that although madrasahs have initiated various digital innovations—such as Android-based exams, online learning platforms, website utilization, and digital communication tools—implementation remains uneven due to limited infrastructure and technical capabilities. Despite these challenges, there is a strong institutional commitment to adapt. The proposed management model offers a strategic framework for integrating technology into educational processes and institutional management. The study has practical implications for improving policy, resource planning, and teacher training in the digitalization of Islamic education. It also provides a theoretical contribution to the field of education quality management in the context of digital madrasah transformation.

Abstract

The relationship between ethics and scientific knowledge has significant consequences for education and community development in the 21st century. Rapid technological advances and globalization have resulted in value abrasion (the erosion of religious and national cultural values). This study starts from the idea that rapidly developing science without a moral basis risks causing value disorientation and misuse of science. The purpose of this study is to analyze the conceptual relationship between morality and science, the challenges of integrating moral values in the scientific process, and the ethical implications of modern technological innovations, such as artificial intelligence and biotechnology. This type of research is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with inclusion criteria: scientific journals that discuss ‘the relationship between morality and science’ and ‘challenges and implications in the modern era’, published in 2015-2024, indexed by Google Scholar, and indexed by the Science and Technology Index (SINTA). The results show that separating science and morality can cause a humanitarian crisis, but combining the two can be the basis for sustainable, civilized progress. Therefore, it is necessary to recontextualize education and scientific practices based on universal ethical values. This research has implications for the importance of building a broad scientific paradigm that not only prioritizes profit and truth but also has moral responsibility.
