Abstract

The development of digital technology has increased sales activities and generated large amounts of transaction data. However, transaction data is often only used as an archive and has not been optimally utilized to support business decision-making. This study aims to apply data mining techniques using the Apriori algorithm to discover consumer purchasing patterns based on mackerel fish sales transaction data. The research method used is a quantitative method with a data mining approach. The data used consists of 15 mackerel fish sales transactions. The research stages include data cleaning, data transformation, itemset formation, frequent itemset searching, and association rule formation based on support and confidence values. This study uses a minimum support value of 30% and a minimum confidence value of 50%. The results show that the Apriori algorithm successfully identifies relationships between items in sales transactions. Based on the frequent itemset formation process, a 2-itemset combination was obtained, namely Jumbo and Small-sized mackerel fish, with a support value of 33.33%. The association rule results show that customers who purchase Jumbo-sized mackerel fish tend to purchase Small-sized mackerel fish with a confidence value of 55.56%. Likewise, purchasing Small-sized mackerel fish is also associated with purchasing Jumbo-sized mackerel fish with a confidence value of 55.56%.

Abstract

The JPL 405A level crossing in Asemrowo, Surabaya is a Category B crossing traversed by 40 train trips per day and recorded 906 traffic violations during 2021–2025, despite only two fatal crashes. This gap between high violation frequency and low accident count indicates a latent risk that may escalate into fatal incidents. This study aims to evaluate the safety and traffic performance of JPL 405A and assess the effectiveness of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based Early Warning System (EWS) as a mitigation measure. Methods include a 12-hour traffic volume survey, effective capacity calculation using PKJI 2023 with gate-closure correction, black spot identification through the Equivalent Accident Number (EAN) and Upper Confidence Limit (UCL), EAN–HAZOP risk assessment enriched with a Violation Behavior Index (IPP), and two-scenario microsimulation using VISSIM software. Results show Degree of Saturation values of 0.882 and 0.884 (LOS E) for the North and West approaches; EAN = 12 exceeds UCL = 9.705, confirming black spot status; Hazard Index reaches 4,325,360, approximately 5.8 times the regulatory threshold of 750,000; and the peak HAZOP Risk Score is 25 (Extreme Risk) for gate-running behavior. IoT EWS simulation reduced the Risk Score from 25 to 5 (Medium Risk), increased the gate-open ratio from 0.846 to 0.857, and reduced maximum queue length by 29 m (North) and 50 m (West) during peak hour. IoT EWS implementation is recommended as a medium-term priority, with flyover or underpass construction as a permanent long-term solution.

Abstract

The increasing global energy demand and dependence on fossil fuels have driven the development of renewable alternatives from agricultural waste. Corn cobs and coconut shells are abundant lignocellulosic biomass wastes in Indonesia that remain underutilized as biobriquette raw materials, and previous studies generally optimized only one or two process parameters separately. This study aims to determine the optimal combination of process parameters for producing high-quality biobriquettes from corn cobs and coconut shells that meet the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 01-6235-2000). An experimental approach applied the Taguchi Orthogonal Array L9(3⁴) integrated with Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) to simultaneously optimize four factors, namely shell to cob ratio, tapioca adhesive concentration, carbonization temperature, and particle size, against five quality characteristics: calorific value, moisture content, ash content, volatile matter, and fixed carbon. The optimal combination was a shell to cob ratio of 75:25, adhesive concentration of 5%, carbonization temperature of 500°C, and particle size of 60 mesh, producing the highest Grey Relational Grade of 0.8891, with raw material ratio as the most dominant factor. The confirmation experiment produced biobriquettes with a calorific value of 6,759 cal/g and other characteristics fully satisfying SNI 01-6235-2000, with a prediction error of 7.99%. These findings confirm that the Taguchi-GRA approach is effective for simultaneous multi-parameter, multi-response optimization of agricultural waste-based biobriquettes.

Abstract

Welding is an essential process in the manufacturing industry, particularly in metal fabrication. Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) is widely applied because of its efficiency and ability to produce high-quality welds. However, inappropriate welding parameters may increase the occurrence of weld defects, especially in the root penetration area of V-groove butt joints. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between root gap and welding voltage variations and weld quality in the GMAW process, as well as to identify the best welding parameter combination among the tested conditions. This research employed a quantitative descriptive approach using an experimental design. S355J2C+N steel plates with V-groove butt joints were used as the test material. The welding parameters consisted of two root gap variations (2 mm and 3 mm) and three welding voltage levels (17 V, 18 V, and 19 V). Weld quality was evaluated using Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), including Visual Testing (VT) and Penetrant Testing (PT). The Fisher Exact Test indicated that neither root gap variation nor welding voltage variation had a significant relationship with the Visual Testing and Penetrant Testing results (p > 0.05). Based on the descriptive analysis, the combination of a 2 mm root gap and 18 V welding voltage produced the best weld quality among the tested specimens, with no discontinuities detected during Visual Testing and only one acceptable porosity indication identified during Penetrant Testing. These findings indicate that this parameter combination performed best under the experimental conditions of this study.

Abstract

The increase in population and domestic activities in residential areas has led to a growing volume of domestic wastewater, which has the potential to pollute the environment if not properly treated. This study aims to design an effective, economical, and environmentally friendly community-scale Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to reduce pollutant concentrations before wastewater is discharged into receiving water bodies. The main parameters analyzed include Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), pH, and oil and grease. The research method consisted of field surveys, wastewater flow rate calculations, domestic wastewater characterization, and the design of treatment units comprising an equalization tank, sedimentation tank, anaerobic-aerobic biofilter, and chlorination tank. The design results indicate that the proposed WWTP is capable of reducing BOD by up to 85%, COD by 80%, and TSS by 90%, thereby complying with the domestic wastewater quality standards stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Number 68 of 2016. The proposed WWTP system is expected to provide a sustainable solution for domestic wastewater management in densely populated residential areas.

Abstract

The crosspiece (spider arm) is a critical component of a front-loading washing machine that connects the drum and shaft while supporting dynamic loads during washing and spinning. Continuous exposure to centrifugal forces, unbalanced loads, and cyclic stresses may cause fatigue failure. This study analyzes the structural performance and fatigue behavior of an ADC12 aluminum alloy crosspiece through numerical simulation and experimental testing. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was used to evaluate stress distribution, strain, deformation, and safety factors under spinning conditions, while fatigue analysis estimated component service life. Hardness testing was also conducted after aging and chemical treatments to assess changes in material properties. The results showed a maximum Von Mises stress of 72.40 MPa at the hub-arm junction, with maximum strain and deformation of 56.50 × 10⁻⁶ and 3.58 × 10⁻³ mm, respectively. The minimum safety factor was 3.87, indicating safe structural performance. Fatigue analysis predicted a service life of approximately 5 × 10⁶ cycles, with the crosspiece arm as the most critical region. The highest hardness, 158 HRB, was obtained after 70 hours of aging combined with chemical treatment. Overall, the design meets structural safety requirements but remains susceptible to fatigue failure at the hub-arm junction.

Abstract

The reliability of the electrical power transmission system greatly determines the continuity and quality of power distribution. This study aims to analyze the reliability level of the 150 kV transmission system through a contingency study (N-1) using the Performance Index (PI MVA) method and voltage profile evaluation. The theoretical study is based on the concepts of power flow, thermal loading limits of lines, electrical power system safety criteria, and the performance index method as an indicator of the critical level of a line. The research method used is a descriptive quantitative method with simulation using PowerWorld Simulator software. Data were obtained from system parameters, line loading data, and simulation results under normal and contingency conditions. The results show that most buses have voltage profiles within the standard range of 0.95–1.05 pu. PI MVA calculations indicate that most lines have PI values < 1 (safe), but some lines, such as TBNGA–PNGYA and GIS BNTALA–TBNGA, have PI > 1, indicating overload conditions. Overall, the system remains stable, but attention is needed on lines with the highest indices to improve system reliability.

Abstract

The ventilation system is a critical factor in underground mining operations, ensuring the availability of fresh air and the dilution of hazardous gases for workers. This study will be conducted at PT Bukit Asam Tbk’s Ombilin Mining Unit (UPO) and will focus on analyzing fan requirements to optimize the airflow system. The issues addressed in this study include the imbalance between the supplied air volume and the size of the working area, as well as the potential for methane (CH₄) and carbon monoxide (CO) accumulation. The research methodology involves direct field measurements of ventilation parameters- such as air velocity, airway cross-sectional area, humidity, and gas concentration levels. The collected data will be processed mathematically to calculate total fresh air requirements based on the number of workers, machinery, and occupational health standards. The study aims to provide technical recommendations regarding the appropriate specifications and placement of fans (both main and auxiliary) to create a safe and productive working environment in compliance with applicable mining safety regulations.

Abstract

Food waste is a global environmental issue with wide-ranging impacts on the food supply chain, the burden on final disposal sites (landfills), and greenhouse gas emissions, while the composition of urban waste in Indonesia remains dominated by the organic fraction and its management still relies heavily on landfilling. This literature review examines (1) household-level food waste behavior, covering attitude, norm, meal-planning routine, and socio-demographic factors, as well as city-scale food waste management practices in Singapore, South Korea, Denmark, and Norway; (2) the composition of food waste generated by restaurants, hotels, and street vendors in the City of Bandung; and (3) the effect of composting on methane emission reduction and compost production in the City of Probolinggo through a material flow analysis approach. The synthesis shows that source separation is the primary precondition for successful food waste management at the household, commercial, and city scale alike, although the gap between awareness and actual practice remains a consistent challenge, indicating the need for separated-collection infrastructure, consistent transport chains, and policy incentives to encourage sustainable behavioral change.
