Abstract

The Cold War was a global conflict that emerged after World War II and involved two major powers, the United States and the Soviet Union. This conflict did not escalate into a large-scale open war but was manifested through ideological, political, economic, and military rivalry, as well as competition for influence in various regions of the world. This article aims to analyze the background of the Cold War, the forms of conflict that arose, and its impacts on the international political order and developing countries. The study employs the historical method with a descriptive-analytical approach through a literature review of relevant academic sources. The findings indicate that the Cold War not only shaped a bipolar pattern of international relations but also influenced regional political dynamics through the emergence of proxy conflicts and the formation of various military alliances. The end of the Cold War in the early 1990s marked the beginning of a new phase in international relations, characterized by shifts in the global power configuration and transformations in patterns of interstate interaction.

Abstract

The French Revolution was one of the most influential events in European and modern world history. It not only ended absolute monarchy in France but also gave rise to new ideas about popular sovereignty, human rights, and the principle of equality before the law. This article aims to examine the background of the French Revolution, the social, political, and economic conditions that underpinned it, the dynamics of the Consulate and Napoleonic Empire, and the revolution's impact on the European order. This research uses a literature review method with a historical-analytical approach. The results show that the French Revolution was the result of structural inequality, a state financial crisis, and the influence of Enlightenment thought. While bringing advances in the legal system and modern government, the revolution also gave rise to political violence and instability. The conclusion of this study confirms that the French Revolution marked the beginning of modern Europe, albeit at a significant social and humanitarian cost.

Abstract

The development of social media has changed many aspects of students' lives, including how they obtain information, communicate, and make decisions about shopping. The constant emergence of digital content has led students to increasingly follow various trends, product advertisements, and lifestyles emerging online. This study aims to examine how social media influences students' shopping habits and identify factors that make them more likely to overspend. This study used a literature review method with a descriptive qualitative approach. The data were obtained from studying various relevant scientific sources, such as books, articles from domestic and international journals, and previous research accessed through Google Scholar, SINTA, DOAJ, and Garuda. The analysis was conducted by identifying, categorizing, understanding, and combining various findings regarding social media use and students' shopping attitudes. This study shows that social media plays a significant role in shaping excessive shopping habits. This occurs due to several factors, such as the frequency of digital platform use, the influence of famous users or content creators, popular trends, and the fear of missed opportunities (FOMO) effect. This situation leads students to purchase items, typically driven by personal desires, a desired self-image, and a desire for social acceptance. This study found that social media plays a significant role in changing the way students purchase items and influencing their views on current needs and lifestyles.

Abstract

ABSTRACT   The COVID-19 pandemic has become a major global event that has changed many aspects of people's lives, including social, economic, educational, and religious aspects. This study aims to explore the changes that occurred during the pandemic and their impact on people's lives. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach, collecting data from various sources such as books, scientific journals, reports from official institutions, and other relevant sources. The study shows that the pandemic has changed the way people interact socially, as the use of digital technology has become more frequent and intense. The pandemic has led to a decline in economic activity and an increase in the number of unemployed people, but it has also accelerated the shift towards a digital economy. In education, direct learning has shifted to online learning systems, which has presented several challenges, such as differences in access to technology and a decline in the quality of learning interactions. Meanwhile, in religious life, there have been changes in the way worship and religious activities are carried out using digital media, but this has not diminished the spiritual values held by the community. This study shows that the COVID-19 pandemic has acted as a trigger for social change, accelerating people's ability to adapt to technological developments and forming new lifestyles that are likely to persist after the pandemic ends.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the dialogue approach as an instrument for resolving the Aceh conflict from 1976 to 2002, and to identify factors that hinder the achievement of sustainable peace. The armed conflict between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) has lasted for a very long time, leaving a profoundly traumatic impact on all levels of Acehnese society. On the one hand, the people yearn for a peaceful and swift resolution to the conflict. On the other hand, anxiety over the possibility of retaliation, as has repeatedly occurred in the past, continues to haunt their lives. The novelty of this study lies in the descriptive content analysis approach combined with five integrative theoretical frameworks: Galtung's Positive Peace Theory, Rational Choice Theory, the concept of Asymmetric Autonomy, the Trust Deficit Theory, and Local Identity Theory. This approach yields a more comprehensive understanding of why each offered dialogue instrument often ends up being merely symbolic without producing real peace. Future handling of the Aceh conflict needs to be oriented towards honest and objective dialogue, inspired by a sincere moral commitment from both parties, in order to achieve a just and dignified resolution. The people of Aceh have reached a point of exhaustion from the various forms of suffering they have endured. Therefore, peace can only be achieved if all parties to the conflict are willing to sit together within the framework of a constructive and just political compromise.

Abstract

This article aims to examine how public health is influenced by socio-cultural determinants that develop within a community. Public health is not only determined by biological factors and health services alone, but is also greatly influenced by social, economic, educational, environmental, and cultural values held by individuals and community groups. These socio-cultural determinants shape mindsets, behaviors, and lifestyle habits, which ultimately have a direct impact on public health, both in terms of disease prevention and health care. In this context, understanding socio-cultural factors is crucial in efforts to improve the effectiveness of more holistic and sustainable public health programs. The research method used is library research with a qualitative descriptive approach. According to Zed (2021), a library study is a data collection method conducted through the review of various written sources such as books, scientific journals, research articles, and academic documents relevant to the focus of the study. The data obtained is then systematically analyzed to illustrate the relationship between socio-cultural determinants and public health conditions. The results of the study indicate that (1) social determinants such as education level, economic status, access to health services, and environmental conditions have a significant influence on public health behavior; (2) Cultural factors such as traditional beliefs, local values, and social norms contribute to shaping people's health-seeking behavior; and (3) the interaction between social and cultural factors can either strengthen or hinder the success of government-run health programs. However, the implementation of public health policies still faces various challenges, such as low health literacy, strong cultural influences that do not support clean and healthy living behaviors, and unequal access to health services between regions. Therefore, a more adaptive, participatory, and contextual socio-cultural approach is needed in the planning and implementation of public health programs. The novelty of this article lies in the study that not only highlights social determinants as a structural factor, but also emphasizes the role of culture as a value system that dynamically influences public health behavior, as well as the importance of integrating socio-cultural approaches in public health interventions in Indonesia.
