Had been known that the climate in Semarang on 2002-2011, there is some  elements that has been changed include the increase of air temperature average- the average was 0.10C every year and the humidity increase up to 1.6% every year. These condition was marked by the shortening of the rainy season and the dry season was getting longer. Working area of Puskesmas Bandarharjo lies in the coast which has high air temperature. Climate change will affect to the development of microorganism that cause some diseases, one of them is diarrhea. The purpose of this study was determine the relation between climatic variation with the cases of diarrhea in working area of Puskesmas Bandarharjo Semarang. This study was cross sectional study. The analysis was using rank spearman. The descriptive result showed that the average of diarrhea since 2011-2015 is 167 cases; rainfall is 180.27 mm/month; air temperature is 28.400C; humidity is 76.13%. Statistical analysis show that there is positive correlation between rainfall variability with the incidence of diarrhea ( p = 0.0001 ; r = 0.664 ) , there is a negative correlation between variations in air temperature with the incidence of diarrhea ( p = 0.018 ; r = - 0.304 ) , there is a correlation among the positive variation of the humidity with the incidence of diarrhea ( p = 0.0001 ; r = 0.554 ) . From the results of this study concluded that there is a correlation between climatic variations in the incidence of diarrhea in Puskesmas Bandarharjo Semarang.

Abstract

The increased number of laundry industries in urban areal inflicted increase amount of detergent usage. Laundry’s liquid waste contains high phosphate and COD concentration that causing the water pollution. One of methods to reduce phosphate and COD is using constructed subsurface flow wetlands with Cyperus rotundus plant. The aim of this experiment is to determine the efectivity of retention time along 2, 4, 6, and 8 days to decreasing of phosphate and COD. The type of research is quasi experiment research with nonrandomized prestest posttest design, with amount of 48 samples. The samples were tested on Health Laboratory of Central Java Province. The results showed that the persentation to reduce phosphate with retention time of 2, 4, 6 and 8 days in a row are 76,06%, 82,24%, 64,39% dan 70,41%. The persentation to reduce COD with retention time of 2, 4, 6, and 8 days in a row are 88,84%, 94,79%, 83,98% dan 84,52%. The result of One Way Anova test showed that significance value of phosphate and COD in a row are (p-value) = 0,224 (p>0,05) dan (p-value) = 0,001 (p<0,05). The most effective of retention time to reduce phosphate and COD is 4 days. It was concluded that COD was appropriate quality standards, while phosphate was not appropriate quality standards. The further experiments needed to do with the variation in plant weight and number of plants.

Abstract

The contribution of air pollution in urban areas around 87% comes from transportation activities. Pulogadung Bus Station in East Jakarta is one of the potential sites in pollution emissions of SO2 gas. Street vendors are the population most at risk for contamination of vehicle exhaust gases. The purpose of this research was analyze the level of non-carcinogenic health risks of exposure to SO2 against street vendors at Pulogadung Bus Station due to transportation activities. This research used observational research with approach Environmental Health Risk Assessment. The population in this research was 140 street vendors at Pulogadung Bus Station with a sample of 60 street vendors. SO2 measurements performed by pararosanilin method using a spectrophotometer. The results showed the average concentration of SO2 at Pulogadung Bus Station was 133,78 ug/m3 which means it is still well below the standards set by the Governor Decree No. 551 of 2001. The average weight of respondents 58 kg, the average daily exposure time 13 hours/day, the average frequency of exposure 329 days/year and the average duration of exposure for 15 years. The average intake of SO2 real time is 0.01461 mg/kg/day and intake life time is 0.02412 mg/kg/day. The average RQ in real time exposure is 0.5619 mg/kg/day and the life time of exposure is 0.9278 mg/kg/day. Characteristics of non-carcinogenic health risks of exposure to SO2 on street vendors at Pulogadung Bus Station in East Jakarta indicate that as many as 13 street vendors (21.67%) exposure in real time and 19 street vendors (31.67%) in the life time risk exposure resulting from exposure to SO2. The conclusion of this study is street vendors in Pulogadung Bus Station have categories yet non carcinogenic health risk by exposure to SO2.
