Abstract

The increasing use of social media influencers in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) marketing has reshaped consumer purchasing behavior, particularly impulse buying. Unlike planned purchases, impulse buying is driven by spontaneous emotional responses and situational stimuli. This study aims to explore how social media influencers influence impulse buying behavior of FMCG products from a qualitative perspective. Using a qualitative research design, this study adopts a descriptive approach to understand consumers’ subjective experiences when exposed to influencer content. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with consumers who have purchased FMCG products impulsively after exposure to influencer recommendations on social media. The findings reveal that influencer credibility, emotional appeal, and persuasive storytelling play a significant role in triggering impulse buying. Influencers are perceived as trusted references whose recommendations reduce cognitive evaluation and encourage spontaneous purchasing decisions. This study contributes to consumer behavior and influencer marketing literature by providing contextual insights into the psychological and relational mechanisms underlying impulse buying in FMCG contexts. Practically, the findings offer guidance for marketers in designing ethical and effective influencer strategies that consider consumer emotional responses.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an in-depth analysis of consumer satisfaction and purchase interest among Shopee users in Bangun Purba District. It explores how digital marketing strategies, service quality, and platform features influence consumer behavior in a localized context. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed to capture the subjective experiences of consumers. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews and participant observations with Shopee users from diverse demographic backgrounds. The analysis utilized Stuart Hall’s Reception Theory to categorize consumer interpretations and thematic analysis to identify key drivers of satisfaction and purchase intention. The results indicate that consumer satisfaction in Bangun Purba District is driven by interactive platform design, real-time engagement through features like Shopee Live, and effective promotional strategies. While the majority of users exhibit a Dominant-Hegemonic reading—readily accepting marketing messages due to informative interfaces—variations in education and experience lead to Negotiated and Oppositional stances. Furthermore, live streaming and video marketing significantly trigger impulsive buying behavior by creating a sense of urgency and exclusivity. This study is limited to a specific geographic area (Bangun Purba District). Theoretically, it enriches the literature on e-commerce by demonstrating how localized socio-cultural factors mediate digital reception. Practically, it suggests that e-commerce platforms and MSMEs must prioritize "visual trust" and culturally resonant communication over price-centric strategies. This research fills an empirical gap by providing a localized qualitative perspective on e-commerce satisfaction in a rural-urban transition area, offering nuanced insights that quantitative metrics often overlook.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of work discipline, compensation, and leadership on turnover intention among employees of PT. Sumber Alam Makmur Sentosa (PT SAMS), a palm oil plantation company in Rokan Hulu, Riau. The study was motivated by increasing employee mobility and indications of sustained turnover pressure within the company over the past five years. A quantitative approach was employed using a structured questionnaire distributed to 87 employees selected through simple random sampling from a total population of 111 workers. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression after passing validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests. The results indicate that partially only leadership significantly influences turnover intention, while work discipline and compensation do not show significant effects. Simultaneously, the three independent variables do not significantly explain turnover intention. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.058) demonstrates that the model has low explanatory power, suggesting that turnover intention is influenced by other psychological and contextual factors beyond discipline and compensation. These findings imply that improving leadership quality, particularly in terms of communication, responsiveness, and perceived fairness, is more critical for employee retention than relying solely on disciplinary enforcement or compensation adjustments. The study contributes to human resource management literature by highlighting the contextual nature of turnover intention in plantation-based organizations.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of profitability and firm size on financial performance in manufacturing companies within the food and beverage sub-sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2020–2024 period. The research adopts a quantitative approach using secondary data derived from annual financial statements. From a population of sixteen companies, eight firms were selected through purposive sampling, resulting in 40 firm-year observations. Profitability is proxied by Net Profit Margin (NPM), firm size is measured by total assets, and financial performance is proxied by Return on Assets (ROA). Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression after passing classical assumption tests, including normality, heteroscedasticity, multicollinearity, and autocorrelation tests. The results indicate that profitability has a positive and significant effect on financial performance. Firm size also demonstrates a positive and significant influence on financial performance. Simultaneously, profitability and firm size significantly explain variations in ROA, with an adjusted R² value of 0.428, indicating moderate explanatory power. These findings support signalling theory, suggesting that profitability and firm size function as important signals reflecting operational efficiency and financial stability. The study contributes empirical evidence regarding the determinants of financial performance in Indonesia’s food and beverage manufacturing sub-sector and provides practical implications for corporate management and investors.

Abstract

This study examines the direct and indirect relationships between work motivation, work discipline, and work productivity among oil palm farmers in Tapung Jaya Village. In smallholder agricultural systems, productivity is not only influenced by technical capacity but also by psychological and behavioral factors. This research applies a quantitative explanatory design using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Data were collected from 89 oil palm farmers selected from a population of 735 farmers using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error. Measurement model evaluation confirmed satisfactory validity and reliability. The structural model indicates that work motivation has a significant positive effect on work productivity (β = 0.532; p = 0.001). However, work motivation does not significantly affect work discipline (β = 0.155; p = 0.516), and work discipline does not significantly affect work productivity (β = 0.256; p = 0.363). Furthermore, work discipline does not mediate the relationship between work motivation and productivity (indirect β = 0.040; p = 0.654). These findings suggest that motivation functions as the primary determinant of productivity in decentralized farming contexts, while discipline does not operate as an intervening mechanism. The study contributes to contextualized organizational behavior literature by demonstrating that mediation models commonly validated in formal employment settings may not automatically apply to smallholder agricultural systems. Practically, productivity enhancement strategies should prioritize strengthening farmers’ motivational drivers rather than focusing solely on compliance-based discipline interventions.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of working capital and sales on net profit in agricultural sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2020–2024 period. The study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from the financial statements of agricultural sector companies. The sample consists of seven companies selected through purposive sampling, resulting in 35 firm-year observations. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS software. The results show that working capital has a positive and significant effect on net profit, indicating that effective management of current assets and current liabilities contributes to improving company profitability. In contrast, sales do not have a significant effect on net profit, suggesting that increased sales do not necessarily lead to higher profitability due to operational costs and other financial factors. However, the simultaneous test indicates that working capital and sales together significantly influence net profit. The coefficient of determination shows that the independent variables explain a substantial portion of the variation in net profit. These findings highlight the importance of efficient working capital management in supporting the financial performance of agricultural companies. The study provides managerial implications for improving financial management practices and contributes to the literature on corporate financial performance in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

The agricultural sector plays an essential role in supporting food security and improving rural community welfare in Indonesia. However, agricultural productivity in many rural areas remains relatively low due to limited human resource capacity, inadequate adoption of agricultural technology, and insufficient technical guidance for farmers. This study aims to analyze the influence of training and mentoring on the productivity of rice farmers in Rambah Muda Village, Rambah Hilir District, Rokan Hulu Regency. The research employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The population consisted of 120 farmers, while the sample comprised 50 respondents determined using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale and supported by observation and informal interviews. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS software. The results show that training has a positive and significant effect on farmers’ productivity (t = 4.742; p < 0.05), while mentoring also has a positive and significant effect (t = 2.579; p < 0.05). Simultaneously, training and mentoring significantly influence farmers’ productivity (F = 29.874; p < 0.05). The coefficient of determination indicates that 82.9% of farmers’ productivity can be explained by the variables of training and mentoring. These findings suggest that capacity-building programs through structured training and continuous mentoring play a strategic role in improving farmers’ productivity and supporting sustainable food security at the local level (Dessler, 2020; Mardikanto, 2018; FAO, 2021). Therefore, agricultural development policies should emphasize integrated farmer empowerment programs that combine knowledge transfer with field-based mentoring to enhance agricultural productivity and rural welfare.

Abstract

Timor-Leste is one of the youngest nations in Southeast Asia and continues to face significant economic and managerial challenges despite substantial development progress since independence in 2002. Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have emerged as a strategic sector for employment generation, poverty reduction, and economic diversification. However, the development of MSMEs in Timor-Leste remains constrained by limited managerial capabilities, inadequate access to finance, weak infrastructure, low levels of innovation, and insufficient institutional support. This study aims to systematically review the existing literature on MSME development and management challenges in Timor-Leste. Using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) approach, literature from international journals, government reports, development agency publications, and institutional databases published between 2010 and 2025 were analyzed. The findings indicate that management competency, entrepreneurial education, financial inclusion, digital transformation, and government policy effectiveness are critical determinants of MSME performance. The review further identifies significant research gaps regarding digital entrepreneurship, sustainable business practices, and innovation management within Timorese enterprises. The study contributes to management literature by synthesizing existing evidence and proposing strategic recommendations for policymakers, academics, and practitioners to strengthen the MSME ecosystem in Timor-Leste.
