Abstract

This study explores the potential of corn cobs as an alternative raw material for environmentally friendly tissue paper production. Corn cobs are rich in cellulose but contain lignin, which must be removed through a delignification process. In this research, soda delignification was applied with varied durations (30, 60, and 90 minutes), combined with the use of dextrin as a binding agent at concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15%. The resulting tissue paper was evaluated based on Indonesian National Standards (SNI), focusing on tensile strength, water absorbency, sheet integrity, and grammage. The results showed that a delignification time of 60–90 minutes combined with 10–15% dextrin produced the best quality tissue paper. The sample treated for 60 minutes with 15% dextrin exhibited the highest tensile strength (400 N/m), while the sample treated for 90 minutes with 5% dextrin achieved the highest water absorbency (114 mm/10 minutes). These findings indicate that corn cob waste holds significant potential as a sustainable raw material for tissue paper production, supporting green manufacturing principles and agricultural waste valorization.

Abstract

Adequate drug availability is a crucial component of healthcare services at Community Health Centers. Drug shortages can disrupt services and reduce patient trust, while overstocking risks expiration and financial loss. The National Formulary (Fornas) serves as a reference for selected drugs to ensure treatment quality. However, its implementation in health facilities still faces challenges. This research aimed to analyze the conformity of drug availability with the National Formulary and the percentage of drug availability level at Y Community Health Center in 2024. The study applied a descriptive method with a retrospective approach. The population included all drugs available from January to December 2024, with a total of 94 types, using total sampling technique. Data were collected from drug stock cards and monthly drug usage reports (LPLPO). Data analysis was performed by comparing the drug list with the National Formulary and calculating drug availability levels based on stock coverage time. The results showed that the conformity rate of drug availability with the National Formulary was 98.94%. Meanwhile, the percentage of drug availability level was categorized as 36.56% insufficient, 24.73% safe, and 38.71% excessive. It is concluded that drug availability at Y Community Health Center has not met the standard indicator of 100% conformity with the National Formulary and 100% safe availability level. This condition indicates inefficiency in drug management planning, which can disrupt rational drug use. Improvements in drug planning and monitoring are recommended.

Abstract

Queueing problems at service facilities often lead to long waiting times during peak hours. At the Bank Jateng service counter located at Univet, which serves both students and surrounding residents, queue congestion frequently occurs at the beginning of the month and during certain service hours. This study aims to analyze the queueing system at the Bank Jateng Univet Office using a single-channel, single-phase (M/M/1) queueing model. The analysis was conducted using WinQSB software based on primary data collected through direct observation during operational hours and interviews with bank staff. The results show that the average customer arrival rate (λ) was 23 customers per hour, while the service rate (μ) was 26 customers per hour. The average number of customers in the system (Ls) was 11 people, with an average queue length (Lq) of 10 people. The average time spent in the system (Ws) was 0.5 hours. The service facility utilization rate (ρ) reached 88.46%, indicating a high workload level. Although the system operates under stable conditions, service capacity improvements are recommended to reduce waiting times during peak periods.

Abstract

The Global Positioning System (GPS) relies on highly precise atomic clocks in satellites and ground stations to determine global time and position accurately. Relativistic effects, including gravitational fields and satellite orbital motion, induce frequency shifts in these clocks, necessitating corrections for accurate navigation. This study developed a novel approach to integrate general coordinates into GPS, emphasizing implementation simplicity. We investigated the application of special relativity to calculate time and frequency shifts in GPS satellites. Our analysis estimated a daily relativistic correction of approximately 21.6 microseconds, with a positional imprecision of 6.48 km per day if uncorrected. By employing a general time-space coordinate system, we calculated position4 and velocity-4 vectors, accounting for special relativistic effects on GPS time and frequency. The proposed method simplifies relativistic corrections while enhancing their conceptual clarity. Results demonstrate improved precision and efficiency in GPS positioning through the integration of general coordinates with a streamlined approach. This research offers valuable insights for international engineering communities, scholars, and practitioners, advancing the understanding of relativity’s impact on GPS satellite operations.
