Abstract

Climate change presents a real threat to global ecosystems and economic activities, marked by rising global temperatures, extreme weather, and sea-level rise. With 2023 recorded as the hottest year since 1850, the urgency for corporate sustainability has intensified. This study investigates the relationship between carbon emission intensity (CI) and corporate financial performance, measured by Return on Assets (ROA) and Tobin’s Q, while examining the moderating role of Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) participation. Using panel data of 2,514 listed companies across 13 Asia-Pacific countries from 2016 to 2023, we employ a fixed-effects regression model with robust standard errors and control for firm size, leverage, growth, and year-sector-country fixed effects. Our findings indicate that higher carbon emissions negatively affect both profitability and market valuation. Although SBTi participation is positively associated with Tobin’s Q, its moderating effect on the emissions-performance relationship is not statistically significant. Subgroup analyses reveal that the negative effects of emissions are more pronounced in developing countries and non-carbon-intensive sectors, where SBTi sends a stronger market signal. The study contributes to the ESG-finance nexus by highlighting the importance of institutional and sectoral contexts. Limitations include the absence of Scope 3 data and long term SBTi tracking, which future research should address using dynamic panel models.

Abstract

The dynamics of the developing workplace and intense industrial competition require every organization to be continuously adaptive, innovative, and to encourage employee initiative. This condition affirms the crucial role of employees in proactively adjusting their jobs, known as job crafting, to achieve alignment between the individual and the organization. However, a research gap exists in previous studies regarding the relationship among job crafting, work engagement, and innovative behavior, where the reported findings remain contradictory. Therefore, this study aims to re-examine and thoroughly analyze the influence of job crafting on employee innovative behavior, and to assess the mediating role of work engagement in this relationship. This quantitative research utilized a survey method on the population of employees of PT POS Indonesia Surakarta Residency. Sampling was conducted using the cluster sampling method, and the collected sample comprised 104 respondents. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires with a Likert scale. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) Partial Least Squares (PLS) via SmartPLS. The research results indicate that: (1) job crafting has a positive and significant effect on employee innovative behavior, (2) job crafting has a positive and significant effect on work engagement, (3) work engagement has a positive and significant effect on innovative work behavior, and (4) job crafting has a positive and significant effect on employee innovative work behavior as mediated by work engagement. These findings provide practical implications for the company to strengthen the role of supervisors as facilitators and providers of positive feedback, creating a conducive and open work environment to enhance employee engagement and encourage innovation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Disclosure on firm value, as measured by Tobin’s Q, and to examine the moderating role of firm size. The research utilizes secondary data from companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the period 2020–2023. The analytical methods employed are multiple linear regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results reveal that Social Disclosure, Environmental and Governance dimensions do not show significant effects. Moreover, firm size does not significantly moderate the relationship between ESG dimensions and firm size. These findings indicate that the effectiveness of ESG disclosure in enhancing firm value depends on the type of ESG information disclosed and company characteristics. This study provides insights for companies and stakeholders to improve ESG practices in a more strategic and impactful way.

Abstract

Companies seeking long-term growth and development must understand three main elements: corporate governance, capital structure, and financial structure. This study aims to examine the effect of corporate governance on leverage, using internal financing as a moderator and firm size as a control variable. This study was conducted over a five-year period in the manufacturing industry listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Purposive sampling was used to select 84 out of 344 companies, utilizing secondary data obtained from Bloomberg Terminal and each company’s financial statements. Data testing employed panel data regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with a standard error white cross-section (period cluster) approach. Empirical data show that overall corporate governance can affect leverage. Furthermore, the variables AC, MO, IO can directly affect leverage after IF variable is included. In the MRA test, IF variable can moderate and weaken the influence of AC on leverage, and IF is also able to moderate and strengthen the influence of BOD on leverage.

Abstract

The transportation sector has undergone various phases of development, from conventional systems to services now accessible through mobile and digital platforms. Digital innovation has led to the emergence of online transportation services that offer greater ease of access, time efficiency, and broader accessibility for the wider community. Gojek, as one of the major players in Indonesia’s online transportation ecosystem, provides a variety of integrated application-based services, including mobility, food delivery, and other digital utilities. Amid intensifying competition in this industry and the growing adoption of online services, implementing strategic marketing initiatives has become essential for companies to attract consumers and maintain their loyalty, encouraging repeat purchases and thereby increasing sales volume. This study examines the influence of brand ambassadors and price discounts on the purchasing decisions of users of Gojek’s online transportation services, with purchase intention acting as an intervening variable. This study addresses inconsistencies in previous research on the impact of brand ambassadors on purchase intention, with some studies reporting significant positive effects while others report different findings. In addition, research on price discounts in online transportation services remains relatively limited. This finding consistently produced positive and significant findings across several of the variables examined. However, one relationship between variables was negative but not statistically significant. This result provides an opportunity for future research to further investigate the underlying factors. Moreover, the findings of this study are expected to support the development of more effective marketing strategies for companies in the online transportation service industry and enhance understanding of the factors that influence consumer purchasing decisions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effects of profitability, firm growth, dividend policy, Loan-to-Deposit Ratio (LDR), and institutional ownership on firm value in conventional banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2020–2024 period. Firm value is proxied by Price to Book Value (PBV). This research uses a quantitative approach, drawing on secondary data from companies' annual financial reports and Bloomberg. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, yielding 14 conventional banks and a total of 64 observations over five years. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression in SPSS. The results show that profitability and dividend policy have a positive and significant effect on firm value. Meanwhile, firm growth does not have a significant effect on firm value. Conversely, the Loan-to-Deposit Ratio (LDR) and institutional ownership have a negative and significant effect on firm value. These findings indicate that investors appreciate banks with strong earnings performance and consistent dividend distributions. Conversely, a high LDR and excessive institutional ownership tend to be perceived as increased risk, potentially decreasing firm value. This study has implications for bank management to optimise financial performance and maintain a balanced risk profile, and for investors to be more discerning in assessing companies' prospects.
