Abstract

Educational developments in the 21st century call for the integration of computational thinking into learning to develop students’ logical, systematic, and problem-solving skills. However, mathematics instruction on two-dimensional (2D) shapes still tends to be oriented toward a procedural approach, so students’ computational thinking skills have not developed optimally. This study aims to analyze the use of Bebras as a learning tool to enhance students’ computational thinking skills in the context of two-dimensional shapes. The study employs a quantitative approach with a pretest–posttest design. The research subjects consisted of 32 upper-grade elementary school students. Data collection techniques included tests, observations, and student response questionnaires. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis to determine changes in computational thinking skills across the indicators of problem decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithm design. The results indicate that the use of Bebras has a positive impact on improving students’ computational thinking skills. The students’ average score increased from 61.4 on the pretest to 84.2 on the posttest. Improvements were observed across all computational thinking indicators, with the highest increase in the pattern recognition aspect. In addition, the results of the observations showed an increase in student engagement and learning activity, while the questionnaire results indicated that the majority of students responded positively to the use of Bebras in mathematics instruction. Students found the lessons to be more engaging, interactive, and helpful in gaining a deeper understanding of two-dimensional geometric concepts. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that Bebras is effective as a mathematics learning tool for improving computational thinking skills in two-dimensional plane figures. The integration of Bebras into mathematics instruction has the potential to become a 21st-century learning innovation that supports the development of students’ higher-order thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of geometric concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the leadership style of the madrasah principal from a psychological perspective on teacher performance. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method through observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The results show that the principal applies an authoritarian and centralized leadership style characterized by centralized decision-making, strict supervision, and strong discipline enforcement for teachers in both academic and non-academic activities. Teachers are required to comply with all established policies, such as punctuality, completeness of teaching administration, and active participation in school activities. Violations of rules are sanctioned with warnings and written reprimands. This leadership style has an impact on improving teacher discipline and performance, but it also limits participation and communication opportunities. Therefore, it can be concluded that the principal’s leadership style is fairly effective in improving teacher performance, although it needs to be balanced with a more communicative and humanistic approach.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of the Curriculum of Love in the perspective of the Qur'an and to analyze its relevance to elementary education in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI). Using a library research approach with the content analysis method, this study examines Qur'anic verses containing values of love and compassion, namely rahmah, mawaddah, ihsan, and ukhuwwah, and contextualizes them with contemporary Islamic curriculum theories and elementary education. The findings indicate that the Qur'an provides a profoundly strong theological foundation for the concept of the Curriculum of Love, whose relevance to elementary education at MI can be analyzed through four main dimensions: developmental-psychological, juridical-normative, pedagogical-professional, and institutional-cultural. This study concludes that the Qur'an-based Curriculum of Love is not merely a normative concept, but an educational framework that has been scientifically proven effective and is juridically aligned with the goals of Indonesia's national education system.

Abstract

The low interest of students in learning to write posters is the basis of the problem in this study. Therefore, an appropriate strategy is needed to increase student interest in writing posters. One of them is by using application-based learning media that does not require costs such as Microsoft Publisher. This study aims to describe the increase in interest in writing posters in junior high school students in Padang City using the Microsoft Publisher application. The method used in this study is collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR). Data were collected using observation, questionnaires and interviews. The collected data were then analyzed to see the increase in student interest in learning to write posters using Microsoft Publisher learning media. The results of the study showed a significant increase in student interest in poster writing skills using Microsoft Publisher learning media. Additional features in Microsoft Publisher are an attraction for students to write posters. Students are helped to develop creative ideas with the help of features in Microsoft Publisher. Learning to write posters using Microsoft Publisher learning media can help students develop creative ideas in writing, especially posters.

Abstract

Strengthening students' environmentally conscious character within the madrasah (Islamic school) environment is implemented as part of the Adiwiyata program. This program aims to foster a sense of responsibility among the school community regarding environmental protection and management; consequently, it requires careful planning, a structured process for character reinforcement, and an analysis of supporting and inhibiting factors. This study employs a descriptive qualitative research method, with data collected through documentation, observation, and interviews. Data analysis was conducted using triangulation. The results indicate that: (1) activity planning involves reviewing the madrasah's vision and mission and designing environmentally oriented programs; (2) the process of strengthening environmentally conscious character is carried out by integrating environmental education into the curriculum, as well as through role modeling, habituation, and student discipline; and (3) supporting factors include stakeholder backing and well-structured activity programs, while inhibiting factors include the need for broader community support and a lack of adequate funding.
