Abstract

Science learning at the MTs level still often faces the problem of low student learning outcomes because the learning process tends to take place conventionally, is less interactive, and has not fully encouraged active student involvement. This condition is also found in grade VIII students of MTs Darul Ulum, where most of the students have not reached the completion of learning in science subjects. This study aims to analyze the application of quartet card media in improving the science learning outcomes of grade VIII MTs Darul Ulum students, describe the application process, and identify students' responses to the use of the media. The research uses the Classroom Action Research approach which is carried out in two cycles, with stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects amounted to 22 students in grade VIII. The research instruments included learning outcome tests, observation sheets, structured interviews, and documentation. The results showed that student learning completeness increased from 18 percent in pre-action to 40 percent in cycle I and 86 percent in cycle II. In addition, students show a positive response in the form of increased enthusiasm, cooperation, and activeness during learning. Thus, quartet card media has proven to be effective in improving science learning outcomes while improving the quality of the learning process in a more active, fun, and meaningful way

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning activity of students in science learning at MTs Darul Hikam which is shown by the dominance of the use of conventional methods centered on teachers, so that students are less involved in asking questions, discussing, answering questions, and expressing opinions. This research aims to increase student learning activity through the application of the Jigsaw-type Cooperative Learning model in science learning. The method used is Classroom Action Research with a two-cycle design, and each cycle includes the stages of planning, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 25 students of class VIII C MTs Darul Hikam, while the data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires, then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed that students' learning activity gradually increased from 38.83 percent in the first cycle of the first meeting to 54.67 percent in the second meeting, then increased again to 80.3 percent in the second cycle of the first meeting, and reached 91.83 percent in the second meeting. In conclusion, the application of the Jigsaw model is effective in increasing students' learning activity in science learning. The novelty of this research lies in the focus on measuring multidimensional learning activity in the context of madrasah tsanawiyah, while the implications show that the Jigsaw model is feasible to be applied as an innovative strategy to create more participatory, collaborative, and meaningful science learning

Abstract

This study aims to examine the economic and environmental determinants of coconut farmers’ income in Simeulue Regency by analysing land area, selling price, labour, and damaged trees as independent variables, with farmers’ income as the dependent variable. This study employs a quantitative method based on multiple linear regression analysis of primary data collected through questionnaires and interviews with 97 coconut farmers selected using the Slovin formula, supplemented by secondary data from relevant institutions. The results indicate that all variables simultaneously influence farmers’ income; however, when analysed individually, land area and labour have a positive and significant effect, the selling price shows a positive effect, and damaged trees have a negative but non-significant impact on income levels. These findings imply that owning larger landholdings and utilising labour efficiently can help increase farmers’ income, whereas pest-damaged trees remain a major challenge for boosting productivity. Therefore, efforts such as improving land management, optimising labour use, maintaining price stability, and implementing sustainable pest control are crucial for improving the welfare of coconut farmers in Simeulue Regency.

Abstract

The reliability of electric vehicle charging connectors depends on correct seal installation, since the seal protects the interface from dust and moisture. This study developed an IoT-enabled cyber-physical assembly system integrating fiber-optic and photoelectric sensors, a programmable logic controller, pneumatic actuation, a Raspberry Pi edge gateway, and a human-machine interface. The system was evaluated on an industrial production line using the same connector model, machine, operating procedure, and inspection criteria as the baseline. The baseline rejection rate, drawn from routine production records before implementation, was 19.18%. After calibration, 600 consecutive connectors were assembled during a continuous five-hour validation run, with manual inspection by experienced quality personnel serving as the reference standard. The post-implementation rejection rate fell to 2.80%, an 85.41% relative reduction (16.38 percentage points), yielding a production yield of 97.17%. The detection system achieved 99.50% accuracy, 88.89% precision, 94.12% recall, 99.66% specificity, and a 91.43% F1-score. Average cycle time was 30 seconds per unit, with a repeatability error of ±0.10 mm across 30 repeated press-depth measurements. These results indicate improved defect prevention, assembly consistency, and traceability under the evaluated conditions, with remaining defects mostly outside the seal-sensing scope.

Abstract

Student engagement is a crucial factor in academic success, as it reflects students’ behavioral, emotional, and cognitive involvement in the learning process. However, academic demands often lead to stress, anxiety, and burnout, which may reduce students’ engagement. One psychological factor that has the potential to enhance student engagement is self-compassion, defined as the ability to treat oneself with kindness, recognize failure as part of the shared human experience, and maintain balanced awareness of personal difficulties. This study aims to systematically review the role of self-compassion in student engagement among university students. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach was employed following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Data were collected from the Scopus and Taylor & Francis databases using the keywords “self-compassion,” “student engagement,” and “higher education.” Of the 46 articles initially identified, 18 met the inclusion criteria and were included in the analysis. The findings indicate that self-compassion positively contributes to psychological well-being, emotion regulation, resilience, and academic motivation while reducing burnout, anxiety, and fear of failure. Furthermore, self-compassion was found to function as both a mediator and a moderator in the relationship between various psychological factors and student engagement. These findings suggest that self-compassion serves as an important psychological resource that supports students’ academic involvement. Therefore, integrating self-compassion development into counseling services, character-building programs, and technology-based interventions may represent an effective strategy for enhancing student engagement in higher education.
